The Turbo Diesel Register. Dodge diesel owners, you have found the number one resource for Dodge Cummins trucks! Sun, 23 Nov 2008 15:17:17 +0100 I know this has been beat to death and I have searched and found out almost everything I think I will need to do the mod on my 1999 2500.
I ordered a set of Sport Headlights from Importvision, a wiring harness from Suvlights and think I can do the job with all the information I got from my searches.
I have one final problem that I can't seem to get a clear answer for. Can I use a Brite Box from Geno's after I do the install? Do I need anything else with the Brite Box? Is the Brite Box worth the money or will I have enough light with just the new headlights? I know a lot of this is opinions and it is old stuff, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just did the starter mod with the kit supplied by Larry Buck at Foster Truck (http://www.fostertruck.com). What a great kit for the money; my starter is working "better" than new. I could not believe how much better the replacement parts were. The job is very easy and the instructions are very clear.
This forum has saved me a lot of money over the years.
Sun, 23 Nov 2008 15:06:33 +0100 I'm keeping my 01' and with 175k I need to do some more steering work. Although it doesn't steer bad I want to get rid of some of the noise and get it in tip top shape.
I'm looking to install the MAXX LINKS SWAY BAR LINKS ('00-'02 DODGE) 4 X 4 I noticed mine look rotten! Is there any trick to this install or is it as easy as it looks? Looks like an unbolt and bolt but is that right?
Thanks
Sun, 23 Nov 2008 14:50:31 +0100 I am a big fan of traditional realist art, like that showcased at the Art Renewal Center online. Given the constant venom directed toward Iran and Iranians in the media, I thought it might be refreshing for forum regulars to see some work by one of those Iranian madmen, Iman Maleki. One of his paintings is shown in the first thumbnail below.
When you look at Maleki's gallery, keep in mind these are PAINTINGS. He paints in the traditional style of the masters, with incredible depth and detail. Take the time to visit the Art Renewal center online, and you will come away refreshed with a renewed appreciation for beauty and artistic talent - guaranteed.

Sun, 23 Nov 2008 14:00:16 +0100 *Subject:* Letter from Grandad
Guess you heard that 68% of "the youth vote" went to Obama. My granddaughter called this morning to tell me she was one of them. I replied with this e-mail:
The election of Obama comes down to this. Your grandmother and I, your mother and other productive wage-earning taxpayers will have their taxes increased and that means less income. Less income means we will have to cut back on basic purchases, gifts and handouts. That includes firing the Hispanic lady who cleans our house twice a month. She just lost her job. We can't afford her anymore. What is the economic effect of Obama's election on you personally? Over the years, your grandmother and I have given you thousands of dollars in food, housing, cash, clothing, gifts, etc., etc. By your vote, you have chosen another family over ours for help. So in the future, if you need assistance with your rent, money for gas, tires for your car, someone to bring you lunch, etc....call 202-456-1111. That's the telephone number for the Office of the President of the United States. I'm sure Mr. Obama will be happy to send a check from his personal or business accounts or cash he found in an envelope taped to his front door.
It's like this. Those who vote for the president should consider what the impact of an election will be on the nation as a whole and not just be concerned with what they can get for themselves (welfare, etc.). What Obama voters don't seem to realize is that the government's money comes from taxes collected from taxpaying families. Raising taxes on productive people means they will have less money to spend on their families.
Congratulations on your choice. For future reference, you might attempt to add up all you've received from us, your mom, and others and compare it to what you expect to get over the next four years from Mr. Obama.
To congratulate Mr. Obama and to make sure you're on the list for handouts, write to:
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW Washington , DC 20500
Love you Kid , but call the number listed above when you need help.

Sun, 23 Nov 2008 13:05:24 +0100 America, land of the free.
I find it incredible that an American citizen can be found to have "no standing" when wishing to verify his President is an American citizen as required by the Constitution, yet any bozo can have "standing" to have a business forced to cater to his homosexuality.
The inmates are running the asylum.

*EHarmony Settles Dispute Over Gay Matches *
A settlement Wednesday between eHarmony Inc. and the New Jersey attorney general requires the online heterosexual dating service to also cater to homosexuals, raising questions about whether other services that target a niche clientele could be forced to expand their business models.
The settlement stemmed from a complaint, filed with the New Jersey attorney general's office by a gay match seeker in 2005, that eHarmony had violated his rights under the state's discrimination law by not offering a same-sex dating service. In 2007, the attorney general found probable cause that eHarmony had violated the state's Law Against Discrimination.

sponsored bySteve Collins has denied any knowledge of the sign seeking bets on Obama's assassination, authorities say.
By JOHN RICHARDSON, Staff Writer
November 22, 2008
The owner of a Standish general store will not face any charges from local police or the Maine Attorney General's Office for a sign posted in the store earlier this month that asked customers to bet on the timing of an assassination of President-elect Barack Obama, county and state officials said Friday.
Oak Hill General Store owner Steve Collins denied any knowledge of the sign when a Cumberland County sheriff's deputy arrived to investigate a report of it on Nov. 7, Cumberland County Sheriff Mark Dion said Friday. The sign itself was nowhere to be found at that time, he said.
And, even if the sign had not been removed, posting it was not necessarily a crime, Dion said. ''It doesn't appear that it was constituting a criminal threat or a terrorizing incident,'' he said.
The sign invited customers to participate in an ''Osama Obama Shotgun Pool'' and wager $1 on the date of Obama's assassination, according to two journalists for The Associated Press who saw it while checking out a tip of its existence. At the bottom, the sign read: ''Let's hope someone wins.''
*A description of the sign was included in an Associated Press national roundup of post-election incidents, many of them racially tinged, decrying the election of the nation's first black president. That story appeared Nov. 16, and has led to national attention and angry e-mails to town officials.*
Dion attributed the sign to Collins in a statement to a Portland Press Herald reporter that was included in the AP story on Nov. 16. ''Whatever the intent of his expression was, we never located the evidence of it,'' Dion said at the time.
Dion had also suggested to Press Herald writers that Collins acknowledged the sign. But on Friday, Dion said those statements were based on body language and behavior, and that Collins did not accept responsibility.
''I think we have the liberty to connect a few dots here. It's unlikely somebody would walk in from the street and post the sign in the store,'' he said. ''At (the) least it's an expression that he provided space for in his store.''
Collins could not be reached Friday. He told his landlord last weekend that he was going hunting and the store has been closed all week, something customers said is not unusual at this time of year. He has yet to talk publicly about the incident, and it's unclear how much he knows about the flap created by the sign.
*State lawmakers from the Standish area plan to introduce a legislative resolution condemning it and other post-election incidents around the state. The Standish Town Council, faced with angry e-mails from around the country, passed a resolution Thursday calling the alleged activity at the store reprehensible. And Friday evening, Gov. John Baldacci and other state and local leaders addressed the incident at an anti-hate rally at the University of Southern Maine campus in Portland.*
The controversy began Friday, Nov. 7, when an unidentified man who described himself as a customer of the store called the Associated Press office in Portland to say he'd seen the sign. Reporter Jerry Harkavy and photographer Bob Bukaty went to the store that afternoon and saw the sign as described by the caller, Harkavy said.
A man behind the counter, the only other person in the store, kicked the journalists out when he found out who they were, Harkavy said. They did not get a photograph, although Harkavy wrote down a description of the sign.
*Harkavy and Bukaty went to nearby Standish Town Hall to see if town officials had heard about the shotgun pool. The journalists described the sign to Town Manager Gordon Billington. He called the state Attorney General's Office and gave a written statement to the sheriff's department. Assistant Attorney General Thomas Harnett said he called the U.S. Secret Service to tell them about the sign and left it to police to investigate.*
Within an hour, Harkavy said, a sheriff's deputy went to...
the store and spoke to Collins, the owner. The deputy's written report says Collins was uncooperative and acted ''like he did not know what I was talking about,'' according to Dion, who declined to release the investigative report.
Harkavy, meanwhile, wrote a short story about the sign that same afternoon and filed it with editors in New York, he said. Part of his description ultimately was included in the national story published last Sunday. Harkavy's original story never moved on the wire.
Harnett, the assistant attorney general, said his office would take no action without a formal report from the police investigation.
The Secret Service office in Portland did not return a phone call Friday seeking information about that agency's response.
I love it. The reporters went to the cops and wrote out a statement about the sign. With all the anti Bush crap i have seen over the years No reporter ever went to the cops about it. Hey CF you jealous? Looks like somebody eles is in love with the O man!
Whatever happened to reporters not giving up there sources?
Sun, 23 Nov 2008 08:35:38 +0100 I just noticed a new thing the truck is doing, and it only does it for the first couple minutes after it's started up after sitting more than 12 hours. The headlights will dim when I give it some gas and the voltmeter will drop to about 10 or so volts for just a second until the engine returns to idle. This only happens when the engine is dead cold and I didn't give it a minute or two to warm up. After the truck has been running for about 3 minutes the problem goes away. Never happens with a warm engine that's been sitting for a couple hours...just dead cold.
Is this the grid heater warming the intake air on a dead cold engine? Should I let the truck run for a minute before driving? Just first time diesel owner operator error...or an indication that this could be an electrical problem and requiring a trip to the dealer?
No CELs or anything else out of the ordinary...
Sun, 23 Nov 2008 06:59:27 +0100 I read somewhere that the upper levels will exceed the capabilities of my stock turbo. What does that mean? Also in the adjustable options it is not recommended to run Rail pressure on level 3 or 4 for extended periods. What is considered an "extended period of time"? Timing level 3 is for aftermarket injectors. What happens if I run this setting with stock injectors?
Thanks,
Drew

Sun, 23 Nov 2008 05:21:19 +0100 Could someone please let me in on the secret magic used to get into the EVIC console? I can't figure out how to pop it apart:confused: I want to get a 12v power source from there and for the life of me I can't find any tabs or screws etc and I don't want to break that plastic housing.

Sun, 23 Nov 2008 04:49:02 +0100 My t-case let loose last week, would pop out of gear then back in, sounded and felt pretty bad. Snap ring was ok, so I decided to replace the whole t-case. The only one I could find in the area (eastern NV) with the right spline count (29) was from a 24v with no speedo sensor hole. It bolted in fine, just now I am trying to decide if I want to keep this t-case, and figure out how to put the speed sensor on the rear axle. So, does anyone know the easiest way to do this? I do have rear wheel abs, I don't know if that makes a difference.
Or maybe it would be easier/better to rebuild the old one. Haven't had time to take it apart and see what the problem is.
Sun, 23 Nov 2008 03:02:21 +0100 if you put this on a stock truck what will you get
or do you need a box to run a elbow
