Doctor Web, Ltd., a Russian developer of IT-security solutions, announces a release of a fixed weekly virus database update – drw44449.vdb (drw433an.vdb) .
The update has been re-released in order to fix errors while detecting Trojan.WMALoader .
The fixed update is available for download on all update servers of Doctor Web, Ltd. and will be automatically downloaded to all machines protected by Dr.Web solutions.

On September 19 users of "Dr.Web for Unix mail servers. Anti-virus&Anti-spam" experienced a crash of the main module of the program (drweb-maild) after a subsequent update of the vaderetro anti-spam plugin developed by GOTO Software . The developers of the anti-spam fixed the incorrect updating so the corrected version was available in the Dr.Web updating area on 11.00 GMT.

Doctor Web has discovered a new version of an extortion Trojan (Trojan.Encoder.20) with new encryption and key generation mechanisms. Every user whose data has been compromised by the malware can download a free decryption utility from Doctor Web.

Doctor Web – the Russian developer of IT security tools branded Dr.Web – releases an updated GUI-scanner 4.44.5 for Dr.Web for Windows.
The follwing improvements have been done to the new version:
Curing algorithms applied to active rootkits have been upgraded;
