Like the Motorola Z8, the Z10 features that trick kick-slider. But, with a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, onboard video editing software, and higher-quality materials, the Motorola Z10 has more to be desired. Of course, there aren't any indications that Motorola is planning to bring this desirable slider to its largest market in the US, but here's to hoping.
I just want to end by saying that Motorola needs to get off their duffs and flood the market with as many reviews of this thing as possible. The UIQ3-powered Motorola Z10 has considerable promise, but nobody will know about it if Moto doesn't blitz the media-space. Especially if Motorola hopes to get out of the major rut they seem to be so comfortable with.. In other words, where's my review unit, Moto?

Sat, 28 Jun 2008 12:08:00 +0200 Sciphone i68 is More iPhone than HiPhone The Cect HiPhone is the most popular iPhone clone brand right now but a pretender has just arrived that might be able to successfully challenge its dominance. For one thing, the SciPhone model i68 is pretty damn close hardware-wise to what the iPhone looks like. The photo you see above is no ordinary rendering; that is actually what the phone looks like. For a more realistic view, you can watch the video after the break. Specs of the Sciphone (pronounced Sky Phone) include a quadband GSM connectivity, 3.2-inch touch screen with both finger and stylus input, 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth (!!), Fm tuner and a G-Sensor for flick navigation. The demo video below shows only a changing of wallpapers when the Sciphone is flicked but it should also be able to change track by flicking. (Via PMP Today.) Thu, 26 Jun 2008 23:03:00 +0200 Motorola ROKR E8 unboxing and hands-on Motorola handed out the ROKR E8 at the 2008 Motorola Holiday Gift Guide Preview. If you follow SlashGear or Phone Magazine, you’re probably already know everything there is to know about the MOTOROKR E8. However, for those living under a rock over the past months, well read on.
Motorola has made it very easy for users to switch the ROKR E8 from talk to music with ONE touch. The ROKR E8 features one of the best implementation of haptics feedback technology on the market. And by haptics, I don’t mean pseudo feedback or where the entire screen vibrates when you press or select a particular area. The slight vibration really tricks your brain into thinking that there’s a ‘real’ button there!
Other key features of the ROKR E8 include Crystal Talk technology, 2-megapixel camera, 2GB of onboard memory, and FastScroll navigation wheel allows for scrolling through songs, contact and image gallery with the slide of a thumb. As I alluded to this feature earlier, ROKR E8 include ModeShift Technology that transforms the handset from phone to music player imaging with a touch of a button. ROKR E8 will be available on T-Mobile. The price and availability was not disclosed at the time of me writing this article. So stay tune for more details. Make sure to check back in a couple of days for a full review. Unboxing and Quick Look video (Via SlashGear.) Thu, 26 Jun 2008 23:03:00 +0200
Some of the AT&T Samsung A227 features include: 65k STN main display, MMS messaging, WAP browser, Alarm clock, Speakerphone & a 500 name phonebook. So, like I said earlier, the AT&T Samsung A227 is a very basic handset. If all you need is a phone with very few extras, you may want to check into this one - otherwise, pay a little cash and buy something nice. (Via MyCellPhoneBlog.com.) Thu, 26 Jun 2008 23:03:00 +0200
It’s sensitive to mention an automobile because of the current fuel price. So this time i don’t want to talk about the luxury Lamborghini car, but the Asus Lamborghini ZX1 mobile phone instead. Introduced first during the last CeBIT, the technical specificatio of Lamborghini ZX1 has been leaked. It will run on Windows Mobil 6.1 and works on quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge network. It also supports 3.6Mb/s HSDPA 3G network, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, as well as 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi. And you may wonder if the phone support GPS, and yess it does support it. Other features include 2.8in LCD display, 3MP built-in camera, and Audio/Video player. (Via TRENDY GADGET.) Thu, 26 Jun 2008 23:02:00 +0200 Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 hands-on, sorta ![]() So here's the scene. We're at the Digital Experience show, trying to get our hands on a powered-up Sony Xperia X1. Sure, we found a unit that wasn't powered up, but that does you -- and us -- no good. Sony told us to come back in 15 minutes, so we grabbed some press kits, made a round of booths, and came back. Sure enough, when we came back the X1 was powered up, but the nice booth lady tried to tell us that things weren't working just right and the unit was stuck on the config screen. After some jiggering, we determined the little X1 was just stuck on the touch screen calibration, and we were cruising through menus within minutes. It's pretty clear this unit wasn't ready for primetime -- you'll even see some HTC test apps in the below gallery -- but we were impressed by the screen's resolution and brightness. Windows Mobile 6.1 showed it face often in the UI, but the phone app and general utilities were looking good. Overall, the X1 is a pleasure to behold -- it's one sexy device. That said, we'll have to wait how Sony Ericsson's user interface shapes up and just look at the pretty pictures in the gallery until mid-September. You can find the gallery over here at Engadget Classic. (Via Engadget Mobile.) Thu, 26 Jun 2008 23:01:00 +0200 Samsung intros the snoozefest J800 Luxe and L700 cellphones It looks like the folks at Samsung are keeping the fires burning with a batch of new handsets announced at the Singapore Telecommunications Exhibition. First on the block is the 3G, J800 Luxe slider, a mid-range phone with a 2.2-inch 176 x 200 display, two megapixel camera, FM tuner, A2DP support, and a slot for microSD cards. The electronics-maker is also offering the L700, a fairly unexciting candybar with a 2.1-inch screen, HSDPA, a choice of colors (pink, silver, and gold), and pretty much all the other features listed for the previous phone. The most interesting offering from this set is the Symbian-based L870 that we've seen previously, which the company claims is still on target for its August release. No word on pricing or release dates for the two new models, however. (Via Engadget Mobile.) Thu, 26 Jun 2008 22:59:00 +0200 RoverPC X7 (Via Just Another Mobile Phone Blog.) Mon, 23 Jun 2008 17:34:00 +0200 Motorola announces MOTOZINE ZN5 Hints of Motorola's new MOTOZINE series of devices have gone back as far as last year, but today marks the first time that Moto's officially spilled any beans on the goods. The headlining feature on the first model, the ZN5 candybar, lies on the backside: a 5-megapixel sensor courtesy of a partnership with Kodak, featuring autofocus, a xenon flash, image stitching, and on-device integration with Kodak Gallery. Otherwise, you get WiFi (score), Motorola's so-called 'ModeShift' technology for morphing the keypad depending on device mode (a la the E8), and a run-of-the-mill quadband GSM radio with EDGE. China's the first country to get the hookup starting next month, but Moto expects to take the ZN5 on a world tour over the course of the remainder of the year. (Via Engadget.) What you see here is the re-designed, and shockingly pleasing, Casio G'zOne Boulder. The Black version is definitely a mean-looking handset, but we have to give it up to the Orange-colored variant. Talk about a handset that does ruggedness in style. And, cosmetic updates aren't the only changes in store for Verizon subscribers looking for the military-spec shock, dust, and water resistance. The Casio G'zOne Boulder offers a 1.3 megapixel camera (up from VGA resolution on the G'zOne Type-S), push-to-talk on the EVDO Rev. A network, and a slimmer profile. If spelunking and canyoneering were our cup of tea, we'd be all over the Casio G'zOne Boulder in Orange. That is, once it launches in the not-too-distant future. (Via IntoMobile.) Sat, 21 Jun 2008 21:35:00 +0200 FCC Reveals Sony Ericsson TM506 ![]() The folks at the FCC has graciously released images of the first T-Mobile branded Sony Ericsson handset since the T610, in the form of the TM506. This clamshell handset shares many same functions as the recently unveiled Z780a, with changes to its style such as a neon green metallic finish around the inside of the clamshell, a metallic finish for the keypad, and soft-touch paint with black gloss on the front flip. Features include a camera of unknown resolution (I would say 1.3 megapixels is the bare minimum), tri-band GSM/EDGE/HSDPA support, A-GPS navigation, a MemoryStick M2 memory card slot, Bluetooth connectivity, a QVGA display and audio and video playback. No idea on when it will be available though. (Via UberGizmo, the Gadgets News Blog.) |
