Sat, 11 Oct 2008 16:55:00 +0200 Nest House is designed for the Neo-rural exhibition by Droog Design way back in 2005. It was built using simple metal and cable structures, and completed with natural materials such as leaves and branches. It can be put up from a tree and can be used as an observation point or as an essential habitat where one can spend the night. The concept and the idea behind the construction of this Nest House is quite interesting and makes a point: Housing which is a basic necessity is limited to once resources or how much one can afford. Birds settle into a place and use the nearest resources to make their nests, and the best part is they wont be paying any rent either. And learning from them, this Nest House was built.

And when you have to design for a designer, it comes with several requirements: a study with a view of the car; a living/ dining space where the treasured industrial products will be displayed; and a completely separated guest room and bed room for sleeping. And apart from these there were a few more, each room had to be distinct while also connecting them together at the same time.

An artist, known as 'bottle Banksy', would take the used milk bottles from doorsteps and then return them after having etched elaborate pictures. Later the identity of this artist was known, meet the Milk Bottle Banksy: Charlotte Hughes-Martin. She would buy the bottles from local shops, where they were sold containing orange juice and then would work on them in her leisure time. The ex-lecturer, who works from a studio in a former glass factory, would decorate the used bottles before randomly returning them to the doorsteps. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are some more of her artwork:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is the gallery of complete artwork.Other Posts: Barefoot Sneakers.
