Thoughts about science, fiction and science fiction Wed, 07 Jan 2009 13:54:36 +0100 As I wrote before, David Tennant will cease to be Docror Who after this year’s season. The next Doctor will be the youngest one in the show’s history - Matt Smith, at the age of 26.
Matt will start his carreer as the Last of the Time Lords in 2010, in the 5th season of [...]
Tue, 30 Dec 2008 17:14:09 +0100 If I would be to define a good science fiction movie, I would start with a negation: it’s nothing like The Day The Earth Stood Still or any such Hollywood monstruosities. It’s not even remotely like Star Wars or Star Trek, or even like Stargate - these are really entertaining and fun to watch, [...]
Wed, 17 Dec 2008 08:27:47 +0100 Leading up to the events of “X-Men,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” tells the story of Wolverine’s epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.
Mon, 15 Dec 2008 11:08:06 +0100 Dune is one of the greatest science fiction epic novels of all time. My opinion is that such a vast and complicated creation simply cannot be transposed to film - David Lynch has tried and failed, John Harrison was closer, but his version was not perfect as well…
Peter Berg, director of such movies as Hancock [...]
Mon, 15 Dec 2008 10:27:00 +0100 That was the question I found myself asking after I saw the latest Hollywood “science fiction” flick called “The Day The Earth Stood Still”.
This movie is the best example of how a good and valuable movie is remade into a stupid and valueless product!
This movie had no moral, no action, no plot, no nothing! It [...]
Thu, 27 Nov 2008 15:24:02 +0100 Thu, 27 Nov 2008 15:18:30 +0100 Still in the age of prequels…
The trailer of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, the first of a series of pre-X-Men movies, will be first shown to the public on the 12th of December, right before “The Day The Earth Stood Still” with Keanu Reeves.
Let’s hope the new X-Men movie will be less of a disappointment than X3…

Fri, 21 Nov 2008 10:52:34 +0100 A movie’s value cannot be calculated in revenue dollars. A good example for this fact is that Donnie Darko (a huge fiasco as far as revenues are concerned) has become a cult movie, and its director, Richard Kelly, a cult cinematographer.
Many have become fans of the Donnie Darko movie, but not even the greatest fans [...]
