The Executive Office for Immigration Review published a final rule regarding Section 212(c) relief for aliens with certain criminal convictions before April 1,1997.

On August 6, 2002, the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) was signed into law. The CSPA amends the Immigration and Nationality Act (Act) by permitting certain aliens to retain classification as a “child” under the Act, even if he or she has reached the age of 21.
