Syd Parrot is the newest member of our family! He is a 1 yr old Quaker who has already captured my heart! So far he's been pretty quiet. We drove a little over an hour to get him and all the way home, he bobbed his head while Michael whistled to him. Didn't make a sound! Here is a picture of him puffing up his feathers. He does that when he's happy or when we blow raspberries. OMG he's adorable as heck! I just love his cute little cheekas!
He does a little chattering kinda under his breath like he's trying to whisper. He likes to sit on my shoulder and whenever I say "tickle tickle" and give a little rub he makes a little "t-t-t-t" sound. He gives kisses, and I could swear he's trying to say "kisses" but it's in that whispering chatter voice, not loud at all. He must be practicing. ;) His previous owner says he can talk a little, but so far he's been remarkably quiet. I guess he's waiting to impress us with those skills until he gets to know us better. He sure loves being the center of attention though. Wed, 17 Sep 2008 02:35:17 +0200 Mon, 15 Sep 2008 23:50:54 +0200 Richard Wright, founding member and keyboardist for the legendary Pink Floyd, died earlier today after losing a battle with cancer.
"No one can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and my friend." Gilmour writes, "He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognised (sic) Pink Floyd sound... Like Rick, I don't find it easy to express my feelings in words, but I loved him and will miss him enormously." Mon, 15 Sep 2008 20:38:12 +0200 Don't even get me started about the Don's attempts to thwart interest away from the recall petition with his now infamous un-drag strip, and his ridiculously ironic campaign to end government corruption (want a good chuckle? Drive by his headquarters on the corner of Saginaw and 5th)... but word on the street is that Flint's deadbeat mayor has actually hired people to gather petition signatures and then throw them away!

Found it in some message board that was linking to the Cowbell More poster, which I guess has such wide appeal because it's like a frakkin meme sandwhich. A meme of a meme of a meme. It's so packed full of meme-meme-ity-goodness, even Richard Dawkins would be stupefied. Let this go on record. According to my hotlinking stats, that image is by far the most popular piece of artwork posted on this site to date and it was created using an online-poster-maker-generator. *sad trombone plays here* I still think it's funny. Glad they do too! Wed, 20 Aug 2008 18:54:53 +0200
The sign reads: Welcome to Circle Drive Neighborhood Association Working together for a Better Neighborhood Mayor Don Williamson This sign was posted in a quaint grassy field in a quiet little neighborhood on Flint's south side. Go ahead and do a search for the triangle patch of grass between Circle, Dell and Omega on this here Murder Map to get an idea of where it's at in proximity to all the craziness going on. That is one of two signs in the local vicinity, which seems to raise a good question. Where are the rest of the Don's happy little neighborhood signs? Historical Anatomies on the Web is a neat reference site that gives Internet users access to some very impressive high quality images from important anatomical atlases. The project emphasizes only the images from the collection, not the entire books. Many of them are quite beautiful. Tue, 19 Aug 2008 17:34:05 +0200 Kawaiiiiiiii! Flint's 2008 Murder Map via Flint Expats Williamson, in his abundance of insight and knowledge, tried to assure the citizens of Flint that the wise thing to do for our budget was shut down the city jail (the same jail he claimed would be "open forever"). How can we layoff yet more policemen in light of the recent burst in crime? But hey, at least we have newly paved roads, right? Thanks Don the Con. *scratches head* Sat, 16 Aug 2008 21:00:39 +0200 Fri, 15 Aug 2008 15:40:33 +0200 Fri, 15 Aug 2008 04:37:59 +0200
(Click Image to go to Studio Spooky. You won't regret it.) This evening, Michael and I went to the meeting initiating the recall of Mayor Don Williamson a.k.a. The Con. I do believe there is hope yet for the city of Flint. The people here do care and want things to turn in another direction. Please stop this asshole before he attempts to run an embarrassing campaign for governor in 2010 and humiliates us even more than Michael Moore did in the 80's. We couldn't ask for a worse mayor, and yet somehow, he was re-elected, winning by a mere 500-something votes in 2007... Oh yeah, there's -----> Thu, 14 Aug 2008 02:22:17 +0200
Why does PBwiki do this? Sometimes it's on every image on my page too. Half the time the images don't show up at all, and when they do, half the time they have this silly stamp on them. Anyone have an answer or a guess? Wed, 13 Aug 2008 16:21:28 +0200 Happy Left-Hander's Day! I'm a lefty, my father is a lefty, and so is my grandfather. I kinda hoped one of my daughters would be left-handed also, but as it turns out, there was only a 20% chance of that happening since their dad is right-handed. Neither of them are southpaws. Hey, did you know know that the term southpaw comes from baseball? Yeah, evidently, parks were often built with the homeplate in the western corner of the field so when a left-handed pitcher was facing the batter, his throwing arm would be closest to the south.
Some other interesting factoids about us lefties:
