There are times in everybody’s life when they could really use a friend or someone to talk to.

I myself have had many of those times, and haven’t always had someone to talk to within my circle of family and friends. Social networking on the internet has solved a lot of this problem for me and others like me online, since it is very easy to find like minded people having similar experiences on various social networking websites and message boards. One message board that is helping connect people online who need a shoulder to type to is the Get Past It Forum, found at www.GetPastIt.com. I first found out about the Get Past It message board in 2005. The concept of the forum was of personal interest to me, because I have had to get past many problems in my life. I was drawn to this forum again recently after my mother passed away. This was a very tough time in my life, and I found myself once again reading the posts at the Get Past It Forum; which is why I decided to write this week's Forum Find post about the site.

On the GetPastIt.com homepage you will find the following message:

Our goal is to provide you with all the resources you need to get past any struggle you are dealing with. We plan to be the most comprehensive online self-help and support group site on the net. Sign-up for your free membership and join the rapid growing community!

There are currently over 16,000 members of the Get Past it Forum, helping each other through life one message at a time. This message board is a good place if you have a personal problem, need to vent, want to “spill your guts”, or get other people’s advice on a variety of topics.

You will find the main topics of the message board are:

Addiction
Alternative Lifestyles
Disorders and Conditions
Family Issues
Men's Lounge
Mental Health
Professional Help
Relationships
School
Self Improvement
Singles and Dating
Trouble with the Law
Women's Lounge

And there are other interesting topics such as:

New Member Introductions
Poll Of The Week
Need a Laugh?
Confessions
Vent!

One of the best thing about this message board is the fact that it has so many sub topics to post to as well, which gives you a complete resource for whatever problem you might be facing at any time in your life.

You can find sub topics such as:

Avoid Traffic Tickets
Parenting Style
Words of Wisdom
Workaholics
Break-Ups
Single Life
Fatherhood
Ask a Female
Sleep Issues
Phobias
Anger Management
Gay, Lesbian, and Bi issues.

And much, much more!

There are a lot of messages on this message board from over the years that a person could read and learn from without having to join the forum as a registered member. Being a registered member however does give you a nice profile such as mine here which has a journal, private messaging, and more. This makes the site feel a bit more like a social networking community rather than a forum, and the colors of the site are very soothing. The whole atmosphere of GetPastIt.com has a nice feel to it and this makes it a bit easier to share your problems and seek advice. Brian, the owner of the site is very helpful to all of the members, and he has done a fantastic job with the site in general. The look and feel, the extensive selection of topics to discuss, and the full member profile makes for a good user experience.

Although there are many members to this forum, some topics have very little posts in them though they have a lot of people viewing them.

It seems as though people are shy to discuss certain topics, or may be a bit embarrassed to ask for help in getting past certain problems. (If you are looking for help with a certain problem and are too shy to post on Get Past It, you might want to take a look at eHow.com.) You will also find that there are dedicated members of the Get Past It Forum that are eager to help others in the world to get past the problems they are facing in their life.

I give GetPastIt.com a thumbs up for a site well done, and two thumbs up for making a difference in the world using the internet!

This is one of my favorite message boards to surf online and I hope it becomes one of yours too. Stay well until the next post and thank you so much for reading!

Ning

I've been social networking on the internet since 1997 when I used AOL instant messenger to connect with locals upon moving to New York.

When I returned home to California a year later, I started using Yahoo! Messenger to keep in touch with friends and family, and make some new friends as well. Over the years I've joined many online communities, message boards, and other social networking sites on many different topics, and funneled all of that activity to my page on MySpace. Now, I keep up with my family and friends on MySpace, and discuss topics of interest with online acquaintances on Yahoo! and all the other social networking sites that I've stayed with over the years such as iVillage, Google, and Tribe. Recently, I began to blog here on Blogger as a way to voice my opinions about the topics that I am most passionate about. As my blogs have evolved this past month, they have begun to receive the attention of readers worldwide, and I have made a big effort to enhance my blogs and make them their best.

In order to take things to the next level for my social network and blogging voice I signed up with a website called Ning - and I think that Ning is the next big thing!

Ning is a website that allows you to create your OWN social networking website on any topic that interests you. You can add forums, groups, photos, videos, RSS feeds, third party widgets and more to your site on Ning, and visitors can become a member of your online community for free. There is no cost to set up a social network on Ning, and you can upgrade your membership to a paid membership to get additional features for your social networking site. The templates provided by Ning are very professional and easy to customize. For example, the most recent community that I created on Ning is a community for world travelers called "The Experienced Traveler" and can be found at http://experiencedtraveler.ning.com. I was able to add an image to the header of my choosing, and coordinate the website colors to match as you can see below:

Ning also creates a community badge for each social networking site that you make for members to display on their own websites, blogs, and pages.

You can customize your community badge to coordinate with your site and also add a custom image as well. There are three types of badges that a member can use such as the badges below:

View my page on The Experienced Traveler

Visit The Experienced Traveler

Visit The Experienced Traveler

Ning is very easy to use and has a similar design function to Blogger.

You can select the page elements of your liking to add to your social networking site, and can arrange them on the page the way that you like as well. What I like best about Ning, is that you can add third party widgets to your site such as Google Gadgets and site tools. You can create a truly valuable resource with a Ning social site! Plus when you sign up for an online community with Ning, you can use your Ning ID to sign up for all social networking communities created on Ning. Plus, you can make announcements and post updates on your community in the Latest Activity section, including announcements of the newest members and more. These announcements and posts are even available as an RSS feed so that you can syndicate your community's news across the internet.

Ning is catching on in a big way with some 'small' communities boasting thousands of members!

You can find social networking communities on a wide variety of topics, and the best are usually found on the homepage under Ning Spotlight. I created a community for each of the blogs that I have, so feel free to join any that are of an interest to you.

Photobucket Here on the Online Socialite blog I strive to showcase socialites who have achieved celebrity status.

In this post I plan to showcase an international celebrity who has become a socialite thru his personal charisma and captivating life. Prince Henry of Wales (commonly known as Prince Harry) is third in line to the British Throne and the younger son of The Prince of Wales and his first wife Diana, Princess of Wales. As a ‘royal celebrity’, Prince Harry is widely recognized for his role as a young prince and all aspects of his life attract a high degree of media attention. Having grown up in front of the eyes of the world, many people worldwide keep tabs on the different aspects of his life. His biography on the Prince of Wales website even lists his birth weight! (here) The world has consistently followed the life of Prince Harry and older brother Prince William - especially through the loss of their mother Princess Diana in 1997. Prince Harry has been called ”The People’s Prince”, as he shares many of the same charitable endeavors as his mother, who was referred to as “The People’s Princess”. Prince Harry's charity work includes working on issues important to his mother like the ones listed here, charities supported by his father which are listed here, and raising awareness for issues close to his own heart such as the needs of young orphans. Prince Harry's attractive features and good looks have turned him into an object of affection and eye candy for many Prince Harry fans around the world, while his personal life has become the object of much media scrutiny. “The People’s Prince” is a “paparazzi magnet” and can be found on celebrity websites such as Celebrity Gossip, Hello Magazine, A Socialite’s Life, and Star Pulse. Prince Harry doesn't seem to be afraid to be genuine despite the huge amount of personal attention and criticism that he is subjected to as a high profile person. Also, despite what AskMen.com calls a “mischievous, outgoing personality and party-boy reputation”, Prince Harry has managed to transform his public image by maintaining his focus on his royal duties and participating in the War on Terrorism. In the article How to Be a Socialite ( here) you will find that a socialite is someone with "Know How, Location, The Look, and Attitude". This combination of characteristics is definitely found in The Prince of The People, which is why I felt he was worthy of this post!

This is what I found on Prince Harry from the AskMen.com website:

Harry was born into one of the most famous families on the planet, and to one of the world's most admired mums. His full title is His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales, and while he largely spent his formative years in the shadow of his older brother, Prince William, Harry has asserted his individuality and carved out his own niche in the world. In 2006 he was appointed as a Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Navy and joined the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry of the British Army as Troop Commander Wales.

Harry has made several headlines in the past few years thanks to a series of controversies that include his admission to smoking marijuana (which could be considered noble in light of President Clinton's denial), his Nazi-inspired costume that he wore to a ball in January 2005, his inebriated altercations with the paparazzi, and his assertion that he'd leave the British Army if he were denied his right to go fight in Iraq.

This YouTube video of Prince Harry was made during his service in Afghanistan, which was a highly controversial issue.

Photobucket

This is how that situation unfolded in the headlines...

12/29/06 Prince Harry Off to Iraq
02/22/07 Prince Harry Off to War
05/17/07 Prince Harry Will Not Go to Iraq
02/28/08 Prince Harry On Afghan Front Lines
02/29/08 Publicity Ends Prince Harry's Military Tour in Afghanistan
02/29/08 Prince Harry Ordered Home from Afghanistan
02/29/08 Prince Harry Returns to UK from Afghanistan
03/03/08 Prince Harry to have 18-month break from fighting and boil-in-the-bag food
03/01/08 Prince Harry Not Happy After Return

03/02/08 Prince Harry Declares “I’m No Hero”
03/04/08 The Prince Harry Solution
03/10/08 Australian Magazine Apologizes to Prince Harry

Prince Harry has been the subject of rumors and controversy his whole life.

You can be sure anything Prince Harry does is going to be considered newsworthy. Lately, you can find articles on Prince Harry reading magazines (here), what’s going on at his ‘favorite bar’ (here), who he is spending Easter with (here), how he fell on a photographer (here), and how he was ‘dumped’ by on again off again girlfriend Chelsy Davy for “having TXT with another girl” (here). The latest Prince Harry buzz is that he plans to bike across Africa with brother Prince William for charity (article here), and he has been calling his on again girlfriend Chelsy Davy pet names such as ‘wifey’ (that article is here). Having the world watch his every move is something that Prince Harry has had happen his whole life.

Here is a video from YouTube from Prince Harry’s 21st Birthday:

In 2007, a magazine cover calling Prince Harry 'The Pin-Up Prince' had many Brits unhappy.

Prince Harry is such a high profile person that even the people who talk about him make the news! Just a few weeks ago ABCs Chris Cuomo caused a wave of criticism when he referred to The Peoples Prince as ‘expendable’ (article), and the journalist who leaked the info about Prince Harry being in Afghanistan (Matt Drudge) has been labeled as a “megalomaniac who endangered Prince Harry’s life” (that article is here). Prince Harry is earning new respect for his recent activities, while the media continues to go back and forth discussing ”how the American media saved Prince Harry” versus why the UK media agreed not to run the story. All in all, Prince Harry fans are still keeping tabs on his single or not status, making videos of Prince Harry on YouTube, and collecting pictures like the ones below:

You can read more about Prince Henry of Wales, The People’s Prince, at The Royal Family Website.

Plus you can also visit the Prince Henry of Wales Wikipedia Page here , the Prince Harry Profile on The Prince of Wales Website here or discuss Prince Harry and other members of Royal Families here.

You can also find ‘I Love Prince Harry’ T-shirts and more on Amazon:

We have as of yet to witness the future of the great Prince Harry, and I wish him the best in his journeys.

Whether it’s on the front lines in Afghanistan, or the front lines of a media frenzy, I hope to see great things from him real soon. Prince Harry has the potential to lead many to greatness through shining example. The world is listening to his words and watching his actions. We are all listening to his message of compassion and watching Prince Harry carry out the legacy of his mother Princess Diana, which is to be what he calls “fun-loving, generous, down-to-earth, (and) entirely genuine.”

Digital Inspiration
Originally uploaded by life_changes
Hello there how are things? I hope that all is going well with you!

Thank you for visiting the Online Socialite blog and reading this weeks post called Blog Envy. For this post I had the hard task of choosing a blog to follow up the awesome blogs that I have posted about already, Post Secrets and Lesbiatopia. I am an avid web surfer and constantly add new blogs to my bookmarks as I go. There are plenty of blogs that I consider to be favorites, but one blog that I truly do have a certain level of envy for is a blog called Digital Inspirations which can be found at Labnol.org. This is a blog that I envy for its high level of readership, active message board, and clean layout. The number one reason that I envy this blog however, is because of its content. The blog owner is an engineer from India named Amit Agarwal, and he is a very knowledgeable person who has given his all when it comes to this blog. The result is a highly informative technology blog with a large readership and fan following.

The topic of this blog is computers, software, emerging technology and the internet in general.

I found this site when I was searching for a way to add translations to my blogs. (That article is here.) While I was there I also found an article on How to Connect a Laptop to A TV and How to Read a PDF on Your iPod or Mobile Phone. I found out how to add the print feature to this blog and more, plus I joined the Digital Inspiration Message Board here as well.

There are so many tech resources here for anybody on the internet its crazy!

When I am trouble shooting a problem for my blogs now I head over to that blog and run a search through the articles. I will admit that the archives are not set up in categories, but the most recent posts are linked on the left of the blog, and like I mentioned you can run a search at the top of the blog and it will search through all the articles on the Digital Inspiration blog for the keywords you select. Plus you can always ask questions and get answers on the Digital Inspiration Message Boards here.

You will also find a whole section of ‘Labnol Videos’ with various video tutorials and such that Amit has posted to YouTube, such as the following video on How to Create a Photo Collage in Picasa:

The Digital Inspirations Blog has received a lot of online attention, and is truly worthy of this weeks Blog Envy blog post!

Digital Inspiration blog averages more than 1.4 million hits per month and has been quoted in mainstream publications including The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, CNet, Wired, CNN Money, Guardian, Financial Times, CBC, Wired, ITWire, MSNBC, BoingBoing, BBC, Mercury News, Sydney Morning Herald, and others.

The site is read by computers hobbyists, students, technology professionals, journalists, not-so-tech-savvy mom and dads, entrepreneurs, early adapters and decision makers.

Digital Inspiration won the Best Technology Blog award at Indibloggies 2006. It is also included in the prestigious "Blogs of Note" list compiled by the Blogger team at Google.

A survey by Business World magazine puts Digital Inspiration blog in the list of most popular blogs and online youth hangouts. The site is also mentioned as one of the top 20 blogs at Microsoft BlogStars. – Digital Inspiration About Us

All this attention is because Digital Inspirations has truly relevant content to internet users worldwide.

Many of the common issues that internet users face are covered somewhere in this online technology guide, and you will find that the message boards will bring you the answers you seek as well. The readers of the Digital Inspiration blog also seem to be very involved in the forum and keep the author on his toes with their comments. I for one really appreciate the work that Amit does, and with over 20,000 readers I can see that a lot of others do as well! You can read an interview with Amit Agarwal here, who has been called India's first professional blogger. I encourage you to take a look at Labnol.org for your tech related needs online and be sure to join the message board as well.

Thank you very much for reading this weeks Online Socialite Blog Envy blog post and stay well until the next time!

AskMen.com
Originally uploaded by life_changes
Last week for my Community Review I posted an article about iVillage for women – this week I decided to even things out and find a forum for men.

Now I have to say that I have been on the internet since about 1997, and I have a great deal of online experience. When I decided to post a Forum Find for men, I realized that there were no message boards that instantly came to mind. You might think that because I am a woman I might not be in touch with the likes of a man, however I am a lesbian woman, and with this comes an appreciation of women that helps me to relate to a man’s plight somewhat. Since I’m a female I’ve never signed up as a member at any male website that I have surfed through, but as a lesbian I have enjoyed the articles and photos of them when passing through. That being said the first site that came to mind was Maxim Magazine Online. My wife and I are fans of the magazine and I wondered if they had a message board on their website. Well I spent a lot of time on the photo blog (*wink) but I didn’t find a message board.

Photobucket

So what I did was run a search for ‘message boards for men’ on Google and the results were slim pickins!

There were a few forums that caught my attention, one being Men Essentials which is a men’s skin care website with a message board full of men's topics to discuss. However, the message board for men that I chose to write about for this weeks Forum Find is at AskMen.com. AskMen.com is a free online magazine with premium content for men with a whopping 5 million readers per month! The topics you can read about at the men's portal include Dating & Love, Entertainment, Health & Sports, Gaming, Cars, and more. AskMen.com is brought to us by IGN Entertainment gaming and entertainment enthusiasts.

The AskMen.com message board is an active forum with thousands of posts within the following topics:

-Current Events / Politics
-Career, Power & Money
-Health, Sports, Fitness
-Love & Relationships
-Fashion & Entertainment
-The General Forum
-The Men's Issues Forum

This is what it says about the AskMen.com Message Boards on Wikipedia:

AskMen.com’s message boards launched on August 9, 2001, and thus far boast over 35,000 members. With over 3 million posts, the most popular topics on the boards include Men's Issues, Current Events/Politics, Love & Relationships.

On top of the popularity of the message boards at AskMen.com, the look and feel of the site is very clean and appealing.

It's no wonder the site is so popular with features such as micro sites like Run Fatboy Run, the Top 99 Women list, and the Ultimate Pickup Guide. There are also daily features such as the Joke of the Day and Gadget of the Day, plus more. The website is easy to surf and interact with, and the message boards seem to be on topic.

I give AskMen.com a thumbs up as a website, and a thumbs up for their message board as well - that's two thumbs up!

You can visit the site to access the boards, sign up for their newsletter, or read any of the channels, blogs, microsites, and more that you will find at AskMen.com.

I hope that you enjoyed reading this weeks Forum Find post, and I look forward to next weeks post, Blog Envy. Thank you for visiting Online Socialite and stay well until the next time!

Photobucket If you look up the term 'socialite' on Wikipedia, you will find that it is someone with the "ability to dominate the social scene and use personal charisma to achieve prominence."

This week I am going to showcase a socialite who has used her personal charisma to achieve prominence on a global level - Angelina Jolie. You can read a biography about her on Wikipedia here where you will learn about her career as an American film actress and Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency. Since her screen debut in 1982 (alongside her father, actor John Voight) Angelina Jolie has become one of the best known actresses in Hollywood - and one of the highest paid. Her personal life has gained worldwide media attention, and she uses her celebrity status to bring awareness to the plight of refugees through the UNHCR.

Angelina Jolie is a talented performer, one of the worlds most beautiful women, and a dedicated activist.

She is popular with people all around the world and is also listed on Wikipedia's Spanish site here. Her personal charisma draws in interest with the masses. People all over the world want to know what is going on with the famous American actress.

Photobucket

From wild-child Hollywood brat to, Academy Award winner, to respected U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, actress Angelina Jolie underwent a series of metamorphic transformations over the course of her career. An exceedingly beautiful, strikingly talented performer, Jolie broke on to the scene in the mid-1990s, quickly gaining a reputation for both her on-screen work as well as her outrageous off-camera antics. Interestingly enough, however, within a decade, Jolie shed her reckless image and successfully managed to re-invent herself – not only as an artist, but also as a celebrity humanitarian of the highest order. - Yahoo! Movies

Using her celebrity status for humanitarian issues has won over the hearts of many worldwide.

People everywhere keep tabs on her career, humanitarian efforts, and personal life. The public has followed Angelina through her rocky relationship with her father, her widely known exploration with her sexual orientation, a couple of marriages that ended in divorce, and her publicly covered family life. They cheered when she won three Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and an Academy Award for her performances. In the UK, people are reading about her tattoos and this site has a photo showcase of all of the Angelina Jolie tattoos. Angelina prefers to channel the attention that she draws into her efforts to help the refugees. She wrote this article as a correspondent from Chad to bring attention to the refugees in Darfur; plus she recently made a trip to Iraq to aid the refugees there despite reported pregnancy rumors.

Much of the media attention is focused on her relationship with actor Brad Pitt.

Photobucket

The pair has been romantically linked since 2000, and the chemistry between the two was on display when they co-starred in the hit movie “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”. Brad Pitt was still married to actress Jennifer Aniston at the time, which stirred controversy, especially when the ad campaign for the movie unveiled ‘mock family photos’ showing Brad and Angelina sharing intimate family moments. Now in 2008, Brad and Angelina have real family photos to share of their three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, as well as a with biological daughter, Shiloh.

Photobucket

Angelina is also sporting a new baby bump, with a welcomed new addition to the Jolie-Pitt family.

X17 and China Daily report that Angelina is carrying twins, and that the couple plan on growing their brood to 7-9 children. Regardless of the size of her family, Angelina Jolie still manages time to build awareness for her key cause and stay active socially. In 2007 she joined the Council on Foreign Relations telling Esquire Magazine "When I die, do I want to be remembered as an actress? No." she tells the magazine. "I recently had a column published in a newspaper and at the end it didn't say I was an actress. It said that I was a UN Goodwill Ambassador – that's all. And I was really proud."

Her movies, her tattoos, her relationships, her humanitarian efforts – the world can’t seem to get enough of Angelina Jolie.

Whether its to sing her praises or criticize her actions, the world is talking about Angelina Jolie. Below are some websites where you can find more on this celebrity socialite:

Plus here is a video from YouTube that showcases some of the best Angelina Jolie photos available online…

I am a big fan of Angelina Jolie, and wish her the best of luck with all that she strives to achieve.

I have seen many of her movies and I think that she is a great actress. My favorite of all her movies is “Mr and Mrs Smith” but others like “Gia”, “Original Sin”, and “Gone in 60 Seconds” are favorites too! I put together a widget with some of the movies that she appears in, Angelina Jolie fan apparel, photos and more that you can find below.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my favorite global socialite. Thank you for visiting and I’ll see you next time here on the Online Socialite Blog. Take care!

Lesbiatopia Screen Shot
Originally uploaded by life_changes
The Lesbiatopia blog is a blog for lesbians that I totally envy because of their popularity and flair.

Lesbiatopia is a blog that offers “a humorous and personal commentary on life, love, sex and society from the minds of modern-day lesbians”. They’ve recently been nominated for “The Bloggies” under the category of ‘Best GLBT Blog’, competing against other blogs such as PerezHilton.com. The winners will be announced in March but you know who my vote went to – Lesbiatopia! Lesbiatopia has also been nominated by The Lesbian Lifestyle for the title of Lesbian Blog of the Year for 2007. Voting begins on February 18th and you can read more about that here.

Something else I like about Lesbiatopia is the fact that the writers are not afraid to discuss the issues that modern day lesbians face.

If you don’t already know I am a lesbian and have a blog called Lesbian Mommy where I post my adventures as a lesbian mom. Because my Lesbian Mommy blog caters to lesbians with children, I try to keep the content PG, but the writers at Lesbiatopia are not afraid to go PG13 when it comes to exploring the issues of the lesbian community. You will likely find articles on any topics that lesbians face, from gay rights to dating and sex to coverage of the latest episodes of The L-Word.

Recently I had the honor of becoming the newest member of the Lesbiatopia staff of writers as their Lesbian Parenting Guru.

For my first post I wrote an article titled “How I Became a Lesbian Mom” that you can read here. I hope you’ll take some time to visit Lesbiatopia and let me know what you think about my first article for them. I am honored to be a part of the Lesbiatopia blog. I feel like I am part of something important because they are providing ‘inside information’ on the lesbian lifestyle for the new generation. I know that the editors (Lesberita and Paula the Surf Mom) put their all into Lesbiatopia and have brought the blog to where it is today. Plus the other writers put together timely and insightful posts on topics that lesbians really want to read about!

Recently there was a bit of controversy surrounding the blog when well known website Digg.com banned the blog from using their service because they considered some of the articles to be ‘adult content’.

Lesbiatopia’s official position as given by editor in chief Lesberita is that the ban by the site was an inappropriate action to take. This is what she had to say about it in this article:

Being a lesbian has nothing to do with pornography, and as much as the straight heterosexual world would like to think that it does, the two are actually very different. Lesbian sex is not a product of entertainment for the straight hetero world, and our choice to include in-depth articles regarding lesbian sex is 1) not for the purpose of providing pornographic material and 2) is certainly not for the pleasure and excitement of straight men.

We have offered a category called "Sex" because we feel sex education in the lesbian community is not only lacking, but it's so privy to silence that young lesbian women looking for answers to many of their sex-related questions, have no where to go. We want to be that resource that provides answers to questions about safe and healthy sex education.

Such a graceful and honest reply!

I give the Lesbiatopia blog two thumbs up for creativity, relevance, and passion, and I am looking forward to watching them grow even more in the future.

You can help support the Lesbiatopia blog by visiting the webstore The Monkeys Uncle on Café Press. Plus you can add Lesbiatopia as a friend on your MySpace page as well. Their MySpace page is here.

I hope that you enjoyed this post, and that you will take some time to visit the Lesbiatopia blog and show some support. Thank you for reading and I’ll be seeing you online!

Yahoo! Music
Originally uploaded by life_changes
Launch.com is a website that you may know as Yahoo! Music.

I have been a fan of Launch.com for years, and when it became Yahoo! Music I was excited to find that my Yahoo! account once again allowed me access to must visit web features. The interesting thing that I want to bring to your attention in this post is the fact that this website not only offers the latest music videos and radio stations online, but they also provide access to message boards where you can discuss music with other fans.

When you visit an artist’s page at Yahoo! Music, you will find a link that says ‘Message Boards’ which will take you to discussions about that specific artist.

My favorite artists usually have message boards where you can discuss their music such as Mary j. Blige and The Pussycat Dolls. Sometimes you will find that there are no message boards for a particular artist which can be a bummer. That’s okay though because Yahoo! Music makes up for it with plenty of other features. You can watch videos and listen to radio stations such as the T.G.I.F station or music stations based on genre such as one of my favorites the 70s Soul station. Plus you can learn details about each artist and add their music to your own personal station and playlists.

The discussion boards aren’t highly visible on the site, but they are an added bonus to the music you will find here.

The boards are easy to use because your user information is your Yahoo! member info. The profile you use for Yahoo! is linked on the Launch.com message boards, plus your playlists and personal stations as well. Even though the artist discussions are a bit buried, getting involved in them is simple and fun! You can also be sure that the people you are having conversations with are people that are genuinely interested in discussing that specific musical artist.

I think the Yahoo! Music message boards are an awesome find, and if you haven’t given the website a visit yet you should take the time to do so.

You will find that you’ll have access to the newest music and can customize your experience by rating music and artists as you listen. You’ll have access to Pepsi Exclusive videos and artist interviews mixed in with the video stream, and the radio stations are diverse to include children’s music and comedy bits and such. Since I work from home, listening to music online or watching videos on my computer screen is something that helps me to keep from getting bored in front of my computer.

I like to play videos on one half of my screen while I write my articles like this…

I wear my headphones to keep it quiet when the kids are sleeping, because I like to listen to all different kinds of music while I work. I hope to see you on the message boards sometime; they are a good forum find for any music fan.

Have a great rest of your week and I will see you next week here at the Online Socialite blog.

Take care!

Photobucket Perez Hilton is a celebrity blogger from Miami who now lives in Los Angeles.

You can read more about him on Wikipedia here. You will find that he is a very popular person online and fast becoming a celebrity socialite. his website, PerezHilton.com, is one of the top ranked blogs and most highly visited websites online. The topic of Perez Hilton’s blog is celebrity gossip, and he is very passionate about blogging celebrity photos and breaking news from Hollywood. He has called himself the “Queen of Media”, but was referred to as the Queen of Mean by Rolling Stone. Many celebrities that he blogs about are not at all amused with his commentary of their photos, etc. He has also received a lot of negative attention for his use of images belonging to websites and agencies such as x17online, who employs a team of celebrity photographers. Plus he is under fire for outing gay celebrities against their wishes, sometimes forcing them to come out of the closet.

Nevertheless, Perez Hilton has managed to maintain his internet celebrity status and is in demand as a socialite as well.

Perez is extremely passionate about his blog and spends a good portion of his day blogging about celebrities such as Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. This “bloggerazzi” has become a popular culture icon much like the celebrities he writes about on his blog. Because he is openly gay, he has become someone that others in the gay community are keeping their eye on as a highly visible gay role model. Perez Hilton has a huge voice online and is someone that the people seem to like a lot.

He is also a big earner.

PhotobucketRolling Stone mentions that Vh1 had a 112% increase in ratings for a certain demographic when they aired the first episode of Perez Hilton’s show, "What Perez Sez". Perez earns top rates for ad space on his blog, and earns for his social appearances as well. Because of his existence, bloggers around the world have been inspired to reach new heights with their blogs. PerezHilton.com is listed as #5 in the article Profiles of Blogs That Make Money, and if you visit this website and enter www.perezhilton.com, you will see what the calculation is on how much Perez Hilton’s blog is worth, which right now is over $5 million. Like I said… the people love Perez!

If you love Perez Hilton too, Perez Hilton Official Merchandise is available thru Amazon:

His take on himself is, "I'm not a celebrity. These days, a celebrity is someone who is famous just for being famous. It's got negative connotations. I'm an entertainer, I'm a worker, I'm a busy bee, dripping honey everywhere." - Rolling Stone

You can find everything about Perez Hilton at Mahalo.com here, including a timeline of TV appearances and more interesting facts on Perez.

Plus you can always visit his blog at PerezHilton.com I hope you enjoyed this celebrity showcase of the celebrity blogger, and I am wishing Perez Hilton continued success as a blogger and socialite. Thank you for reading and take care until next time!

MySpace Home
Originally uploaded by life_changes

If you read my Community Review on Yahoo!, you’ll find that Yahoo! is most noted as a web directory, although it has developed a huge online community.

The opposite is true with MySpace.com, the largest social networking community online, which is fast-growing into a web directory. Since joining the website in 2005, I have watched the membership grow, and can see how MySpace is developing into a web directory thru the addition of many features over time. Millions of people visit MySpace each day not only to connect with other people, but also to access the features that the site offers.

The community features currently offered by MySpace include:

MySpace Blogs
MySpace Chat Rooms
MySpace Classifieds
MySpace Events
MySpace Forums
MySpace Groups
MySpace Impact
MySpace Jobs
MySpace News
MySpace Polls
MySpace Weather

These are standard community features, although MySpace does take these features to the next level like only MySpace can.

It appears to me that MySpace chooses to add features to its site that will be popular with its users, rather than only focusing on traditional community building features. The MySpace development team remains innovative with each feature that they add to their site. For example the latest addition to the MySpace website is ‘MySpace Celebrity’, which is a link into everything Celebrity on MySpace. You won’t find a celebrity link on Yahoo!.

Although MySpace doesn’t have as many features as Yahoo!, the features that it does offer are more in line with popular culture in the new millennium. With a younger member base than Yahoo!, you can understand why the three main categories other than Community features are Entertainment, Mobile, and Schools Features.

In the entertainment section you can find the following features:

MySpace Books
MySpace Celebrity
MySpace Comedy
MySpace Downloads
MySpace Filmmakers
MySpace Horoscopes
MySpace Latino
MySpace Movies
MySpace Music
MySpace Music Videos
MySpace Sports
MySpace TV

In the mobile section you can find the following features:

MySpace Mobile
MySpace Ringtones
MySpace Text Alerts
MySpace Mobile Games

And in the schools section you can find the following features:

Find Classmates
Grade My Professor

MySpace is also following in Yahoo!’s footsteps in becoming a web directory by introducing MySpace sites specifically tailored to different countries around the world.

These sites include:

MySpace Australia
MySpace Brazil
MySpace Canada (in English)
MySpace Canada (in French)
MySpace China (in Chinese)
MySpace Denmark
MySpace Finland
MySpace France
MySpace Germany
MySpace Ireland
MySpace Italy
MySpace Japan
MySpace Latin America (in Spanish)
MySpace Mexico
MySpace Netherlands
MySpace New Zealand
MySpace Spain
and MySpace UK

I definitely endorse MySpace as a social networking community, however, I suggest you keep your eye on this site as one of the major web directories of the future.

Like Yahoo!, MySpace has an internet presence that has the possibility of standing the test of time. Although a buzzword initially, both of these site names have become pop culture icons for their generation, and have the brand recognition to propel them to bigger and better things. Keep your eyes on this site in the future... MySpace is showing social networking sites everywhere how it’s done!
