How The Times Are-A-Changing. There was a time when unsolicited email was considered spam. But with Social Networks all the rage now I guess that's no longer considered true. For example, here's a recent email that I received […]

I am by no means an expert on the topic of blogging. But I'm going to share with you some 8 effective ways that I've discovered to get more readers to your blog. It has worked for me and I'm hoping you too can get great results as I have. So without further ado...
Wow! Has it really been six months since moving the old blog from Blogger over to Wordpress? Where does the time go! So I was thinking that it might be a good time to reassess the big move. This was the list of observations that I came up with. Who knows, maybe you can come up with more: 1. I’ve pretty much retained my blog rank [...]

What was that movie called ... oh yeah, "Grumpy Old Man, er Men". While writing this I can’t help but appreciate the curmugeny irony as I hear wisps of Julie Andrews dancing through the mountains to a chorus of “My Favorite Things“. […]

Bill Gates will go down in history as the biggest conundrum in corporate history. How can someone become the world’s riches man by making the crappiest products? Not by being a nice guy that’s for sure. Over the ensuing days you will be reading white-washed accolades about what a great guy Billy is. All I can say is don’t buy into it. […]

This is one of my classic rants about unfairness in the blogosphere. Is it still relevant today as it was then? You tell me... The truth of the matter is there's a disproportionate amount of traffic going to only a privileged few that have eked out their own network hierarchy within the blogosphere. These blogarchy types subscribe to the theory of "More Signal, Less Noise". Meaning -- YOU are the noise...

Of course we would all like to believe that we're above this sort of thing (the shrinks call it denial). So I was wondering ... do you have any blog rivalry stories of your own to share? Come on, tell the truth...

I've been saying for years now the so-called social networks are time wasters and misdirecting everyone away from developing their real blogs. I compare the SN phenomena to bar-hopping. Today's popular hangout will be yesterday's flavour of the month. Sooner or later the barflies are going to wake from their delerium and regret all those years wasted and realize their privacy has been raped and come back to haunt them. Sad but true […]

When is the Right Time to Hit the Publish Button? Most of us want to see more traffic and comments on our blogs. All too often we are left scratching our heads and wondering if we’re just talking to ourselves into a closed microphone … HELLO! Is there anyone out there? Sound familiar?

As you probably already know I’m a self confessed blogaholic. Not that confession has done much for my soul so I thought it might be helpful if I made a list of my symptoms. I’m certain that I’m not the only blogaholic out there so when you read this list be honest and let me know if anything [...]

Much has been said about what it takes to be a successful blogger. But most of these blogs just talk about making money. Not one to mince words I thought I would cut through all the hoopla and sum it up with the following tips...

This is a continuation of my first post entitled “10 Tips for a Successful Blog: Part 1?. It started out as only a few tips which very quickly evolved into much more...
Are you a Stinker Linker? Be honest now. The reason I ask is because links are the lifeblood of the blogosphere. They nourish us and keep us connected to one another. They give us a purpose for blogging and are the very stuff that we need to thrive on. Imagine for a moment an internet without hyperlinks...

This is supposed to be a happy day for us Dads but NOT so much for Blog Bloke this year. You see, two days ago the love of my life left overseas to visit her ailing Mother along with the apple of my eye, my 12 year old daughter. Not only is my daughter missing Father’s Day with the old [...]

Well, it seems that Biz Stone reads Blog Bloke after all. Further to my recent rant about improvements Twitter needs to make, this is what he said in an interview today with ZDNet. Question:  What is the most requested feature? Grouping has consistently been high on the request list and is high on the list of what we are considering. We’ve been [...]
I was reading Mike’s post over at Twenty Steps entitled “How to get traffic to your website for free”. In it he lists 5 great methods: 1. Subscribe to forums related to your subject. Include your website in your auto signature and don’t ever mention your site directly for fear of being branded a spammer; 2. Leave comments [...]

I get a lot of questions about how to make a blog better, so I thought I would look at it from a different angle and tell you what I don’t like about some of the blogs that I see out there. If you think you fit into one or more of the categories, don’t take it personally. Just take it to heart and learn from it. Trust me when I say that we’ve all been there — yours truly included, and I’m still learning every day.
