1. Server connection from the tray

The possibility to connect/disconnect from the tray has been implemented in the new version. Just right click on SmartHide icon in the tray and select ConnectDisconnectAbort.

“Connect” connects to the server that a user has chosen from the servers list;

“Abort” helps to stop SmartHide operation on connection stage. This feature is available only with the connection from the tray;

“Disconnect” is used to disconnect SmartHide from a server.

2. Server selection from the tray

The software now provides the possibility of a server selection from the tray. Click the SmartHide icon on the tray, choose the menu item Server and click on the desired IP address in the displayed submenu. All following connections will go through the selected server. The possibility of connection management via the menu in the tray makes SmartHide much more user friendly and saves user’s time.

3. Automatic Server Switcher

A new feature of automatic server switch helps to avoid many problems with the automatic server connection. If the option is activated, SmartHide will connect in turn to each server on the list till the successful connection. At the same time the server rollover during the first connection will take place not taking into account the “Reconnect” option status.

4. LiveUpdate

SmartHide can be updated with just a few mouse clicks now. If a new version is available, SmartHide will offer the user to install the update automatically. An easy-to-use LiveUpdate wizard will make the whole process even simpler.

5. Usability in error messages

A lot of work has been done to improve the dialogs usability with error messages. Now, if any error occurs, a user sees a pop-up balloon with the corresponding message. If you click on the balloon you will receive more information about the error and recommendations as to its elimination.

6. Support Form

In case of any connection problems a user can send an e-mail to the support department right from the program. All the necessary diagnostic information is forwarded to the support team immediately which considerably saves user’s time and nerves.

7. Dedicated RAM volume

SmartHide source code has been optimized to save RAM volume on a PC. From now on SmartHide requires much less RAM space.

8. VPN management mechanism

VPN management mechanism has been revised completely. SmartHide runs now much faster and has a more stable operation mode. Due to this fact lots of problems from the previous versions have been successfully eliminated in the new one.

9. Spanish, Italian and French translation

SmartHide has been translated into Spanish, Italian and French.

10. Lots of errors eliminated

Lots of minor errors and bugs causing serious SmartHide operation problems were fixed.

Arovax Company, a leading producer of shareware and freeware software for home users and office workers, has released SmartHide 2.0.74 on December 20, 2007. Now you can hide IP faster.

Some new features have been added to SmartHide to hide IP address automatically. The first feature is called "Autoconnect". It allows to connect to SmartHide server as soon as you switch on your PC. Users will forget about manual actions to hide IP address. This function is available in paid version only.

The second feature is set by default. It's called "Disconnection notification". Previously this feature was included in paid version only. But now we've decided to include it in both versions. Users will notice if SmartHide has been disconnected. They can hide IP address being assured now.

BUT! All SmartHide users are strongly advised to update their copies of SmartHide to the latest one (2.0.74) in order to be able to hide IP address with new features.

One user said: "SmartHide had been disconnected because of no reason. I would like to know abou it when it happens. Could you add some notification about Internet Disconnection?" It is one of many messages that help us improve our software. So, we have added this feature for you. Hide IP address and get notified about Internet disconnection. In order to work with the new server you need to login to your account (http://smarthide.com/members) and update SmartHide to the latest version (v.2.0.56) from the members area. Otherwise, it will not be possible to work with the server.

We have considered many requests from our users who want to hide IP address using different servers all over the world and decided to create a new server for paid accounts only in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (GB), London.

The main change - the opportunity to run software on Vista (x86) platform. Now you can hide IP address easily on Vista (x86). The previous SmartHide versions did not allow to hide IP address on Vista. It showed that IP address was hidden when in reality it wasn’t so. Such occasions happened in Vista when you worked in a user’s account or if UAC (User Account Control) was switched on. The same thing took place in Windows XP if you were using a user’s account instead of an administrator’s one. This factor resulted in a loss of password, login name and settings.

Now you can be sure that you won’t forget to switch to an administrator's account in order to use SmartHide the right way. If you forget about that anyway, a special notification message will appear.

The last but not the least modification has been implemented: SmartHide will be installed on the supported platform only.
