The President of the Republic publicly expressed its satisfaction with the decision of the Court of Appeal to refuse a request for annulment of presidential pardons decreed on May 20, 2008. The Court of Appeal refused the request of Mrs Fernanda Borges and a group of others to declare invalid the presidential decree that pardoned some of the penalties to a few dozen prisoners in Becora.

On 1 September, the PNTL started to execute the eviction order that was issued by the Ministry of Justice for the land at Aspol. Prior to any camp movement, MSS has explained to the residents of the camp that there are a number of areas of government land that IDPs cannot return to, even if they were living there prior to April 2006, as these have been set aside for future government buildings, in particular: the land in front of Mercado Lama, the ex-UIR compound in Fatuhada, and Aspol.

Members of East Timor's National Parliament were furious over the results of Alfredo Reinado Alves' autopsy being leaked recently. The autopsy, which was carried out by an Australian forensic laboratory, found that Reinado was shot at close range. According to parliamentarians, only the East Timor's Attorney-General's Office had the authority to release the report.

The autopsy filed by Dr. Muhammad Nurul Islam into the death of Leopoldino Mendonca Exposto. The manner of death is "Homocide" caused by a gunshot injury to the head, supposedly entering through the back of the head and also fired at high-velocity from a close range.
