So... let's put it to bed - the 2008 Christmas Special continues to generate discussion across the web and blogosphere. With Den of Geek's recent summary of the commentaries on the Doctor Who Complete Series 4 DVD, we've learned a lot this week. So what about The Next Doctor? • The phrase "cache of info-stamps" is said (not revealed by whom). • There's a character called Aubrey Fairchild*, (the name of the Prime Minister in early drafts of The Stolen Earth) who...

The Den of Geek's in-depth perusal of the Doctor Who Complete Series 4 DVD revealed some interesting facts about The Sarah Jane Adventures... So brace your self for revelations about Two Doctors-esque tall Sontarans, computers voiced by the Doctor and Catherine Tate trying to get in on the act: • The production team couldn't find an actor short enough for Kaagh in The Last Sontaran so they had to make a new costume - thereby upping the cost of the episode. • The actor who played...

This is what you want from your newspaper - revelations that advances in Time Travel are just around the corner! I scour the web for this sort of stuff regularly, and its particularly good to see the subject handled to well - packaged so that experts and newcomers alike can enjoy the subject matter. Earlier this week South Wales researcher Rhianne Attwood looked into the science behind Doctor Who to shed light on how close time travel really is. “It’s a really good way to...

(THIS ARTICLE MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!) Velile Tshabalala is the name of the the striking looking lady who plays The Next Doctor's companion in the forthcoming Christmas special. She recently spoke to local publication West Sussex Today about her character, Rosita, and her previous roles which include CBBC sitcom Kerching! and the BBC3 comedy series Tittybangbang. Since it was revealed that The Next Doctor sees David Tennant's Tenth Doctor meet David Morrissey's Nth Doctor, speculation has been...

David Tennant's second Shakespearean turn for his contract with the Royal Shakespeare Company has proved to be a critical success, with plaudits rained on Love's Labours Lost. The production runs in tandem with Tennant's sold-out staging of Hamlet, with both productions playing in repertoire at the RSC's Courtyard Theatre until 15 November.  It tells the tale of  four lords who take a vow of sexual abstinence and live to regret it. Razia Iqbal is the BBC arts correspondent, who...

Den of Geek's lengthy perusal of the Doctor Who Series 4 DVD Boxset which will be released shortly has revealed more than David Tennant referring (seriously or not) to Steven Moffat as his "new boss". Oh yes, there's the revelation that RTD loves the Paul McGann TV Movie (to an extent as this contradicts a statement elsewhere...) and that Harriet Jones really, really, REALLY, OK(?) died in The Stolen Earth. • On the Paul McGann TV Movie, RTD says, ".. so not what I...

Apparently, monsters wear makeup too... 25-year-old Helen Rowe, of St John’s, Worcester has worked for Millennium FX for more than four years and in that time has helped create some of the scariest aliens seen in Doctor Who. Helen was lucky enough to meet Neill Gorton at a trade fair back in 2004, and found herself as part of his monster workshop after graduating - a logical progression for an interest in makeup and costume that runs back to seeing the music video for Michael...

So - it's all around the web by now, but if you don't know - David Tennant calls Steven Moffatt his "new boss" in the commentary between the two on the forthcoming Doctor Who Series 4 boxset release. And of course the reaction is - why would he use that term if he was leaving? According to Den of Geek: • David Tennant refers to Steven Moffat as his "new boss", and their discussion indicates that they are already working together. • The Grand Moff prefers...

So, we get this rumour once a year, and however lovely and nostalically nice it might seem, let's face it, it is unlikely to happen. Sky TV of all places reckon that Tom - the legendary and iconic Fourth Doctor - is making a return to the show in the next full series of Doctor Who, in 2010. Apparently the BBC and Tom's agency have declined to comment on the rumour - although we can only take Sky's word for it that they've even been asked. Such a return would make the return of Paul McGann...

In promotion of the Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale, Russell T Davies and Benjamin Cook are working a small circuit of major booksellers over the next few days... The Birmingham/Manchester dates look a little ambitious for one days work, but whatever the venue, make sure you start queing early - a quick look at the weather forecast suggests your might need some woolies and a mac if the queue gets too long... LONDON: Wednesday 8th October Waterstone’s Piccadilly at 6pm Store number:...

Mark Gatiss is behind a new BBC Four drama that looks set to chill you to your very bones... Scripted by Gatiss and produced by Tiger Aspect, Crooked House tells the story of a house and its curse, a damning that exists due to its construction from the wood of old gallows... Julian Rhind-Tutt (Green Wing) is expected to appear, although the majority of casting is not known... although with a broadcast scheduled for the Christmas period, I don't expect to wait too long for the news. Gatiss...

This is a good one, found via The Gallifreyan Embassy. Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale - the new book from Russell T Davies co-authored by Benjamin Cook (well known to DWM readers) and basically a collection of email correspondence about the production of Doctor Who - has its own website, where you can read short biographies of the Davies and Cook, as well as find out who has given the book a review, etc. It gets better, however. A quick hop over to www.thewriterstale.co.uk reveals a button...

More promotion for his book the The Writer's Tale has brought Russell T Davies into the Independent this weekend. Lucky Benjamin Cook gets to stay out of the firing line... There's little that's actually new in the interview, although there are a few insights from Russell that I haven't seen before, such as a recollection from his time at the BBC in the Children's department: "When you work in children's television everyone says to you, 'Oh, you'll never work in adult drama.' When I...

According to David Semple writing on Den of Geek, "Nothing ages quicker than something which is bang up to date" - and he  has a strong argument. Comparing Michael Grade's appearance on Room 101 (where the former BBC Boss declared that Doctor Who was "stuck in a timewarp") with an accompanying clip from the BBC talk back show Did You See? paints a clearer picture. But what is striking, watching it now, is how hopelessly old-fashioned Did You See? appears –...

Kasterborous favourite Nicola Bryant is currently on tour in a production of Daphne Du Maurier's classic thriller Don't Look Now which takes her to Worthing's Connaught Theatre on October 21-25. Doctor Who fans of Nicola - and there are many - will be able to catch up with the actress at the stage door where she will be happy to sign DVDs "It's such a quintessentially British show but the lovely thing, the amazing thing, is that the people who are making the show and starring in the...
