Mon, 18 Feb 2008 14:47:24 +0100 This morning’s highlight was an email in my Inbox from Play Asia, saying that Gyakuten Saiban 4, a.k.a. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney has shipped!
To me, the Ace Attorney series is, by itself, more than enough reason to buy a Nintendo DS. I just can’t praise these games enough, with their quirky humor and old-school point [...]
Sun, 25 Nov 2007 03:46:11 +0100 If you look at the post below this one, the date will say (as of now) “7 months ago”, which can be a bit worrying. But, indeed, something has just changed around here, and this blog is not dead, so a new post is in order.
What’s new? Well, you have probably noticed the new logo, [...]
Mon, 23 Apr 2007 20:06:01 +0200 According to World of Spectrum (also seen on Slashdot), the Sinclair ZX Spectrum was released exactly 25 years ago.
I don’t need to tell you how important this little black rubber-keyed beast was to me, during my late childhood and early teens. It was my first “real” computer (technically, it was my father’s, but…), and not [...]
Mon, 23 Apr 2007 16:26:21 +0200 For the last few days, the only cartridge inside my Nintendo DS has been this game: Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, by Infinite Interactive, authors of the Warlords and Warlords Battlecry series.
From everything I’ve seen, this game has had very little promotion, and has been relatively hard to find. But most reviews have been [...]
Wed, 04 Apr 2007 12:12:22 +0200 From IGN:
After rumours that a Wii version of Resident Evil 4 was appearing on the release schedules of Japanese retailers, the latest issue of Famitsu has confirmed the tittle-tattle and gives a few details about the Wii installment.
Imaginatively titled Bio Hazard 4: Wii Edition, this updated version features new Wiimote-specific controls. These include using the [...]
Fri, 05 Jan 2007 14:30:10 +0100 Have you thought about how great it would be?
And Capcom could produce it in an instant. They’d just have to:
- use all the content from the GameCube version
- add all the extra content from the PS2 version, updated to have GC-like graphics and lighting (otherwise, the extras would look visibly worse than the rest of [...]
Fri, 22 Dec 2006 18:01:25 +0100 There’s not a lot to say about the recent class action suit against Nintendo.
What the news media are reporting is that the wrist straps are “faulty”, which, during play, caused them to break, which in turn made the wiimotes “fly out of the user’s hands”, breaking TVs and possibly simply injuring people.
In reality, this is [...]
Thu, 21 Dec 2006 11:54:16 +0100 Since I bought my Wii, a site I’ve visited regularly is The Virtual Console Archive, which has news and reviews related — you guessed it — to the VC.
However, in one of the last posts, there’s so much ignorance that I’m not even sure it’s a joke or not. I believe it isn’t, however. The [...]
Wed, 13 Dec 2006 23:28:08 +0100 Well, as my first post, I’d like to point out something I just found out about.
Rake in Grass has just launched an expansion pack for their great game, Jets’n'Guns!!
More of a “ok, the game’s as it should’ve been now” than a “hey, new stuff!” package, the so-called Gold Edition brings new features (well, duh ^_^’) [...]
Tue, 12 Dec 2006 18:38:32 +0100 NOTE: the following is translated and adapted from a post of mine on the Nintendo DS - Portugal forum.
I have it at home, since yesterday.
I’ve been playing with it for several hours, now. Unfortunately, my brother (who is the one who bought it for me; I wasn’t in the country on release day) was only [...]
Sat, 02 Dec 2006 14:36:47 +0100 If you’ve arrived here through the front page, you’ve already seen the redirection page, I believe. Any individual post, however, is transparently redirected, with no warning message. And, of course, if you use the RSS feed, you won’t even see a change.
Anyway, this blog’s new address is www.thegamesofmylife.com. Please, update your bookmarks. If you have [...]
Tue, 21 Nov 2006 21:32:42 +0100 Sorry about the recent lack of posts. I’ll try to post more in the future.
I’ve been playing mostly Nintendo DS games, these days. My PC is too old to play any recent PC game (I’d love to play Medieval: Total War 2. :(), so there’s nothing new there. If it wasn’t for the [...]
Fri, 20 Oct 2006 15:13:16 +0200 (originally posted in The Tlog)
Well, I’ve had it for a couple of days now. As far as I know, it hasn’t yet been released in Portugal, but I ordered it from Amazon.co.uk.
If you’ve used Opera Mobile version 8.x, you have an idea of what to expect, as the browser (while it has the “Opera” brand, [...]
Thu, 10 Aug 2006 09:38:48 +0200
Rumors of a portable Nintendo GameCube console, or at least a portable which plays GC disks, have been seen on gaming news sites for the last few days. The cause is that, apparently, Nintendo has got IBM to shrink their Broadway chip recently.
Now, I doubt these rumors are true, for several reasons. First, it would [...]
Fri, 04 Aug 2006 11:38:50 +0200 While most developers and producers (including big ones like EA and Ubisoft) have said that they are fully behing the Wii, a few developers (”lazy”? naaah) have said that it is “underpowered” for the games they are developing for consoles like the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Gamers, in forums - especially younger ones - [...]
Wed, 03 May 2006 14:48:29 +0200 Older people tend to note how kids, today, have no sense of how much harder things were in the early days. But it can also happen in the opposite direction: if all you’ve ever known was something “bad”, you will probably consider it “normal”, and be satisfied with it.
For instance, if you were born under [...]
Mon, 17 Apr 2006 17:31:08 +0200 Star Control 2 is still one of the best games ever, and probably unsurpassed in its genre (although it doesn’t really belong to a single genre). Now, a guy from Toys from Bob, the company founded by the two Star Control creators, wants them to do a new Star Control (a real one, not the [...]
Tue, 04 Apr 2006 19:31:41 +0200 A couple of days ago, I bought Chessmaster 10th Edition, as it was ridiculously cheap. Great game, the best tutorials ever, incredible graphics, and all that. But one feature caught my attention: several chess sets needed to be unlocked! “You need to win 25 rated games to unlock this set”, and so on.
This is common [...]
Tue, 28 Mar 2006 13:49:26 +0200 I found a thread on GameSpot with incredible screens from PC games announced for 2006. Go there and drool…

Wed, 22 Mar 2006 09:13:49 +0100 Now this looks interesting…
As you may remember, the first Medieval: Total War is one of the “Games of my Life”, and, IMO, one of the best strategy games of all time. A second version of it (it’s Creative Assembly’s first sequel ever) should be really amazing.
Here is the MTW2 official page, with lots [...]
Mon, 20 Mar 2006 16:32:41 +0100 Yes, the first one (released outside Japan) for the GBA. I’m completely addicted to it, right now.
It’s virtually the same game as Path of Radiance, only with different characters, plot and world - and, of course, no 3D graphics, though I still think they’re great for a GBA strategy game. Of course, in [...]
Wed, 22 Feb 2006 10:32:34 +0100 IGN has a Top 10 Worst Controllers list. Yes, it includes the Power Glove.

Tue, 14 Feb 2006 17:33:31 +0100 For the last few weeks, I haven’t had almost any time for gaming, unfortunately. That’s why there’s not much new stuff here, and on the Revolution blog.
This weekend, though, I finally had some time, and divided my time between 3 games:
Jets ‘n’ Guns (PC)
Advance Wars (GBA)
Disciples 2 (PC)
So, 2 strategy games, and a [...]
Tue, 31 Jan 2006 23:16:13 +0100 It’s right here. They missed some important ones, in my opinion… but it’s still a good article.
(no Videopac controller? Heresy!)

Thu, 19 Jan 2006 15:27:53 +0100 Source: Nintendorks.
The most amazing thing is that I can well believe it. In the 80s, they had the NES; later, with the GB, GBC, GBA and now the DS, they still sell more consoles than anyone else.
And they always make a profit, unlike Sony and MS, which usually sell their consoles below cost.
