It is highly recommended to clean up any hard drive, including one for your Zune. Just like operating and using a lot of software in a personal computer can clog your machine, your Zune software can cause the same problem. Clean and cache out with a program using your computer or simply follow the steps below.

  • Click on Start
  • My Computer
  • Right click on your C: drive
  • Choose properties
You should see the capacity of your hard disk stats there, just like the image below:

  • Hit "Disk Cleanup" button
You can then delete unnecessary files in your hard disk

Check this new Halo-Zune. Microsoft has released a new brown version of the Halo-themed Zune player for military service members. Microsoft Zune and Microsoft’s U.S. Federal business joined together to develop a special Zune – Halo 3 Military Edition, which will be available exclusively at military retail stores in August. The new version of the Zune – Halo 3 Edition player will be packaged in a collectible Halo 3 box, and will come pre-loaded with artwork, trailers, and music from all three Halo games.

Microsoft is going to release special edition for game fans, Halo Zune. The 30GB customized black device comes pre-loaded with a collection of Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3 content, including videos, soundtracks, trailers and artwork. Release date is in June, but it seems that GameStop / EBGames have Halo 3 Zune available for pre-order right now, exclusively for their customers.

Microsoft seems to release pink color Zune player in the late spring. Fashion and design of the player is one of their promotion strategies. They are also planning to release red Zune player around the summer. I guess pink to be the image of flowers, spring, and the heat and hot summer represent red color. They think customers are responsive to new colors and textures of Zune. Technologies and functions of the player are rather unique in Zune, but for an advertising purpose, they seem to be sensitive to its colors. Would you buy one if it just looks good? Possibly some do, I guess.
Microsoft has released firmware 1.3 for its Zune media player. The new firmware corrects a skipping problem with content downloaded from the Zune Marketplace. Changes have also been made to make Zune more reliable in the area of device syncing/detection. Finally, Microsoft has made changes to the way the FM tuner functions when a Zune is placed in sleep mode.
Microsoft has been fairly successful with Zune project, and they are very committed to expanding its $100 million marketing through various concerts and social events.

With Zune's wireless technology, they seem to want to establish a strong social networking. But the next hot thing is the phone feature. iPhone is obviously to re-capture all the attentions of music player fans. We will see how Microsoft will counter Apple with their marketing strategy.
Microsoft's portable media player remote can also be transformed into an Xbox 360 controller. You can control your xbox 360 video inside.
Check the video from Zune Insider below.

The newest rumor is about Zune Phone. Its launch is yet unknow. Here are some little information on Zune Phone.

The Zune cell phone will have connectivity to sync up with the Xbox 360 to stream media content through a wireless connection. This sounds pretty neat, but it is not certain how practical that can be. Transferring movies from the Xbox to the mobile media player does extend its use. Another obvious battle against iPhone of Apple. But again, Microsoft is very serious about Zune marketing.
Microsoft is planning some market research in Europe first to see if Zune player will be well received, and if any changes to software and marketing need to be made.

No official announcement on a Zune release date has been made yet at this point but the rumor already has spread and many believe it could be around Christmas time.
There is a free convertor, called ZuneIEPlugin, which allows you to install an Internet Explorer plugin so that you can save Youtube, GoogleVideo, and SoapBox videos to your videos folders. You can view them on your Zune player.

Orange Zune is out. The color seems rather odd for an MP3 player. It doesn't seem too great in my opinion, but some people may like the color.

Microsoft has released limited number of colors for Zune. I think many like black. White is good also, but why they picked orange?
Microsoft is adding Vista support in a 22MB update, also claiming to fix bugs, improve the installation process, and hopefully help keep the loathing of Zune to a minimum.

Microsoft claimed 9% market share of the portable media devices sold since the Zune launch. The launch was obviously good for Microsoft.

Depending on how they can offer various services for Zune, especially music downloading and other Zune accessories, it will be a matter of time that Zune will grab 20-30% of the MP3 player market in the next 6 months.
Those who are in Bay area could get Zune player today. You can grab your Zune player at your closest Best Buy. Lucky folks! For the rest, wait till tomorrow.
The launch of the Official Zune sites - Zune.net and Zune-Arts.net

Both are awesome looking sites! Lots of pictures with Zune and great promotional graphics to attract the consumers. Even just the impressions I got brought a thought that Zune could really "kick" iPod.

All the accessories are shown with prices and detailed descriptions at Zune.net. You can zoom in pictures for a better view. I just liked all the pictures they have provided on the site.

It seems that Microsoft got plans to spur subscriptions by offering a 14-day trial subscription to its Zune Pass. Similar to already existing music download sites like Napster or URGE, Microsoft lets Zune owners download an unlimited number of songs while their subscription remains active, but they are going to delete the songs afterwards.

This free trial is another Microsoft's strategy for its Zune. Accoring to some popular poll, 58% of current iPod users said they were very interested in picking up a Zune player over iPod. Regardless of what critics on Zune say, the time will only tell if Zune can really compete with iPod.
A DJ Wi-Fi feature lets you do DJ for up to four other people with Zune via the Wi-Fi. It seems that the DJ feature was removed, and many people are suspecting there may be a Wi-Fi battery issue in the culprit.

It doesn't seem so good such a bad news to be spread before Zune's launch, but we hope people out there are still anticipating its launch in November 14th.
There are ways to get your Zune as quickly as possible if you are one of those who just CAN NOT wait for it too long.

It seems that many online stores and retail stores are promoting Zune already. The release date, however, is still the same, November 14th.

Just like Xbox 360, Microsoft is again targeting the consumer in the right season. Get yours before Christmas!

Microsoft and Walmart are going to work together to promote Zune player. This can be a huge boost for Zune's promotion as Microsoft begins the sale campaign in November.
Zune may be available very soon at Walmart. Better check at your local Walmart before it's too late.
Though we are not certain on the pricing and Zune's availability, Microsoft has officialy launched Zune today.

A consumer technology analyst Rob Enderle said "There is a window of opportunity. The fear is that once Zune comes out, there will be two camps: Apple and Microsoft. So now is the time to do something before Microsoft gets Zune fully cooked."

Apple seems to reveal its new iPod next week, a new iPod with a bigger screen for watching movies?
According to the documents filed with the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), it seems that Toshiba, a Japanese hardware manufacture is making the Zune device. The Zune product name was Toshiba 1089 Portable Media Player according to the document, which was confirmed by a Microsoft representative.
