A blog about various things in life. Thu, 25 Dec 2008 04:02:09 +0100 Verdict: Google Chrome is a surefire winner in the browser market. The Good: Small, fast, secure with a clean, intuitive interface. The Bad: Not enough customization options available in terms of themes, addons, and extensions. Google released their web browser not so long ago into a market already dominated by the likes of Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. However, coming from a search and web giant, this browser definetely has the power to gain a solid foot hold. Google released this browser with the intent to improve the average user’s everyday web experience, fixing things that their engineers felt that other browsers felt... While this is big news in itself that Viz is embracing the internet as a new distribution means, the more interesting quirk is the fact that they will be streaming episodes that have aired in Japan with only one week after their air date. Now this is a huge step forward for anime companies as a whole, who often have large delay times between Japanese airing and DVD release and... It will be another 52 episode run, however the quirk this time is that they will stick faithfully with the manga rather than diverging halfway through. As a fan, I am sort of dismayed since this creates a disparity between the original series and this new one. I think some people are going to completely ignore one in favour of the other, especially since the same studio is making it. But I suppose milking such a massive cash cow is just too irrestible... In fact, it isn’t only restricted to anime, the setting is also used in video games such as Final Fantasy and even some Hollywood movies. For others who don’t know what steampunk is, it basically is a world where technology from the Industrial Revolution (19th Century) and Victorian-England styling meet and combine smoothly with science-fiction or fantasy elements such as futuristic technologies and devices. Basically, I am a massive fan of steampunk. Some great examples of steampunk is Last Exile and Full Metal Alchemists. The reason why I love steampunk so... Cheering for our athletes just to see them fall short of a medal and even be eliminated in the first or second round of their sport. It is something I’ve seen time and time again. After watching them lose several times to other countries like the USA and Australia, I can only come to one conclusion, we need to overhaul our system for supporting athlete. Unlike those in USA, Australia and many other countries in the world, the government of Canada does little to support our athletes.Nations like USA provide... I just got word today from Anime News Network that Black Lagoon has been green-lit for a third season. That means more gun fights, blood, swearing and over-the-top action sequences, stories and crime bosses for just about everything! However there haven’t been any details about when it will be released and if it is going to be licensed for distribution in North America. Also, it is not yet known if animation studio Madhouse and director Sunao Katabuchi will be returning to bring this series to TV once again. Fans can only Wed, 25 Jun 2008 01:43:10 +0200 Well the new Guitar Hero: On Tour game for DS is now available. It is the latest installment in the popular Guitar Hero franchise that brings the fun of the game to a mobile platform allowing you to jam with friends wherever you are. While it seems a bit lame, I’ve tried it and it is as much fun as playing the console version. Although I miss the feeling of holding the guitar controller, the DS version proves to still proves to provide the same level of fun. Stores like Futureshop are selling the Guitar Hero and Nintendo DS bundle for a... Basically, I will discuss funny headlines that I have come across from time to time. As the first of this series, you get two funny headlines in one. The first headline reads “12 people injured in wedding in Chechnya when angry guest throws hand grenade.” I stumbled across this while watching my local TV news channel at around midnight. So why was I laughing at people getting injured? Well the fact that a guest had a hand...
