Online sports betting picks forum, discuss nfl football, mlb baseball, nba and college basketball Fri, 09 Jan 2009 13:30:48 +0100 Tennessee traveled to Baltimore on Oct. 5, 2008 and won 13-10 in a defensive struggle with an 80 yard TD drive in the final minutes of the contest. That 80 yard drive started with 5:57 on the clock at the Tenn. 20 yard line, and after 2 plays with 3rd and 10 facing the Titans, a 15 yard penalty by Baltimore's Terrell Suggs for unnecessary roughness on K. Collins gave the Titans a 1st and 10 at the Tenn 35 yard line. Many say the call was questionable, but nevertheless it allowed Tenn. to continue with 9 more plays to the Balt. 11 yard line, where Collins found A. Crumpler for an 11 yard TD and the winning score. Tennessee never led in that game until that TD drive, and with only 1:56 remaining the game was out of reach as J. Flacco was intercepted by N. Harper two plays later.
Baltimore led in first downs 22-14, in total yards 285-210 and rushing yards 132-47. Tenn. held a very slight edge of 163-153 in passing yards. Baltimore seemed to have the game well in hand, but that final drive sealed their fate.
Baltimore finished 3rd in the NFL in points allowed (15.3/game) and was second in overall defense (3rd vs the run and 2nd vs the pass). They led the NFL with 34 takeaways, and have not allowed a 100 yard rushing game to any running back in 35 consecutive games.
The Tennessee Titan's defense ranked 7th overall in the NFL (6th vs the rush and 9th vs the pass) and allowed just 14.6 pts/game (2nd in the NFL) and produced 31 takeaways.
One player you can watch for is Ed Reed of the Ravins. In the past 7 games he has accumulated 10 interceptions and 3 defensive TDs. He has produced 2 ints in each of the last 3 consecutive games and has 12 interception returns for TDs in his career. What can be said for him? Well, his coach, John Harbaugh summed it up like this " he's maybe the best player in the game." That is quite an objective complement coming from an NFL coach.
Tennessee will get defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch back for this game, after he was inactive for 6 games with abdominal surgery. Albert Haynesworth, defensive tackle that did not play in the last two games of the Tenn. season, should also be available. He leads the team with 8.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. Titan's center Kevin Mawae will be out again, and defensive lineman Dave Ball, who missed the last game of the season, will be out with back problems. He's a good sack man and he'll be missed.
I have a tendency to feel that this game may mirror the game of Oct. 5th. C. Carr and M. Griffin are both very good kickoff, and punt return men. If they continue to be just that, and can give Tennessee the edge in field position, I feel the Titans will win convincingly. On that questionable call against Baltimore, I think it was not the deciding factor in the game. I believe that Tennessee would have scored anyway, just as they did all year long when they really needed it.
Whatever your play in this game "good luck"

Fri, 09 Jan 2009 05:30:47 +0100 What is it with this club and injuries every year. I check injury reports daily, and the clip joint has been full for years. Every week, every year, injuries! Baron Davis was healthy 1 year, last year, and he signs with the clippers, lol. That kid livingston from peoria, that shattered his leg, sad. Kaman for 3 years, and many more from the 90's. I believe it all starts with who they draft, owner donald sterling pissed off someone upstairs, i am convinced of that much!! :thefinger

Fri, 09 Jan 2009 01:01:51 +0100 Looks like USC vs Texas '06 Championship Game again but two different teams
All the hype was USC they just made mistakes and let Texas come back and
beat them 41-38. Looks like if Gators try too hard they might just get beat off QB Bradford
constant way to find WRs open. Bradford is a way better QB. If the Sooners
play conservative they win, and possibly blow out the Florida Gators. If QB Tim Tevo
can take off time and let his offense control the clock they might win. Everyones talking
about Defense! Come on,this isn't the only good defense the Sooners have played all season.
Wish Texas would have been in it, but they're not. But the Championship needs to go
to the Big 12, to show people that the SEC is not the best. Alabama is way over rated
and I think so is Florida. Just hope Florida don't get bumbed out when they're losing 28 - 0.
Hope they can get some points on the board.

Thu, 08 Jan 2009 22:11:06 +0100 BCS National Championship Game
Florida Gators vs. Oklahoma Sooners
We we are finally here. Those who read my columns know it's been a very fun and more importantly very profitable season. I've been on fire during bowl season losing my smaller games (Texas, Ball St., etc.) but dominating my big games ( Utah and USC , etc.). This falls into my top 5 play. We have two teams coming into this game that are strikingly similar. Both coaches are from Ohio and have won a national title in their second season with their schools. Both QB's have Heisman trophy's in their trophy cases and both teams can score and score at will. Talk about a defensive coordiantors nightmare in this one. This game features two teams that never have faced each other so they are very unfamiliar with the offensive game plans. Both teams also average over 45 points a game with Oklahoma really turning up the firepower late in the season scoring 316 points in it's past 5 games! Oklahoma has a problem playing defense as well allowing 21 or more points the past 8 games, and although they scored 60 points in the past 5 games they've allowed 4 td's or more in 3 of them. On the other side of the ball Florida is no stranger to scoring themselves putting up 40 or more in 8 games and over 50 5 times. And remember that was against a tough SEC defensive minded conference. To hear more stats and trends call 1-888-850-8211. Speaking of defense this team DOES know how to play defense. They are a top 10 defense nationally having just one team score over 21 points all season.
Now with that said we look at the Quarterback matchups. Oklahoma QB and Heisman trophy winner Sam Bradford led the country in touchdowns with 48 and had just six interceptions. The lack of mistakes may have been attributed to his tremendous protection. To hear more about his protection call a free recorded message at 1-888-850-8211 and hear just how amazing that stat is. Tom Tebow is on the other sideline with a Heisman of his own and a top 3 finish this year. Some have called him the best leader in college football and he seems to at times single handedly will his teams to victory, Tebow will run and pass on you all day. Florida can adapt and run or pass when needed and star WR and possibly the most dynamic player in all of college football Percy Harvin will be in for the Gators tonght as well. Harvin has had 4 weeks to recover from a balky ankle that has given him problems all season and said he is healthier now than he has been all year. On the injury front and a story that somehow has gotten buried in the news in the Sooners loss of RB DeMarco Murray. Murray was unquestionably the second best offensive threat the Sooners had and he will not suit up for this game. To hear more injury news and information as well as another key inury call 1-888-850-8211 to hear a free recorded message. Oklahoma still has leading rusher Chris Brown , but he is not the open field threat that Murray was.
With all this said the whole nation is on Florida. It's being hit at over a 70% clip and we've seen some big public plays go down hard this bowl season. Just ask Alabama and Texas. I think this one is too easy to not take Florida. I am not one of those players who look at line movements and get scared off. This line opened at 3 and I jumped on it but would like it at 7 even 10. Let's not overthink things here. Both teams play offense with the best of them but just one team plays defense. It's that simple. If you need more info here are a few tidbits ... and to hear more tidbits, weather, injurys and trends call 1-888-850-8211 so heres a few nuggest for you. Heisman trophy winners are 2-5 in National Title games. The big time big 12 offenses that go so heavily hyped were all shut down in their bowl games. (Texas, TTech, and Okie St.). Florida has much more speed and speed teams against bad secondaries are scary. Oklahoma has lost their last 4 bowl games. And for you stat heads ... Florida is 15-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, they are also 17-5 ATS in their last 22 games on grass, and 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games overall. So the play is the FLORIDA GATORS.
Thu, 08 Jan 2009 19:10:15 +0100 Best Bets (0-0)(even)
Strong Plays (1-1)(-0.20)
Regular Plays (7-3)(+3.70)
Overall (8-4)(+3.50)
Played three small plays last night and won two of three. No complaints from me, I will take that seven days a week. Getting a little confidence going, so I hope my good luck continues and we all need some good luck when it comes to gambling.
Oregon St +21 vs Arizona St (best bet)
.Might as well jump in with my first best bet of the season. There is no doubt who the better team is, hence the 21 point line, but I feel Oregon State plays the type of basketball that leads to games that are more on the low end when it comes to scoring. I dont think their style of play will allow for a blowout. I really dont see AZ State winning by more than 15-16 points and might even be closer than that.
Stanford +6 ½ vs Washington (best bet)
Best bet number two of the season. I really feel like Stanford is the better team here and the only thing Washington has an advantage in is home court and that is not worth 6 ½ points. Very realistic chance of an outright win here. I wont get greedy and play the moneyline though. Greed kills. As long as they cover I will be has happy as you can be.
WARNING!! The Pac-10 has always been my jinx conference. No matter how much I love a game I have not had a ton of success in this conference. This is a new year though and maybe things will change for me.
Oregon +10 vs Arizona (strong play)
.There I go again
.playing with fire and staying in the Pac-10. Always scary betting early on as you just dont know a ton about teams. Simply put I just dont think Zona is ten points better than the Ducks. This just smells like a close game to me and I am going to follow my gut.
Boise St -3 ½ vs San Jose St (strong play)
..Much like last night where we have two pretty equal teams and I love to play the home team with a line of 4 or less. You will see me do that a lot this year. Home court should be able to push Boise to a 5-10 point win.
Rest of these are (regular plays) just for one unit. No write-ups on these as I am just playing some hunches.
St Louis +15 vs Xavier
Hawaii +6 vs Idaho
Detroit +5 ½ vs Valparaiso
That is it for Thursday. Small card for Friday
..not sure if I will play or not. It is very rare that I play on Saturday afternoons in college hoops. I work all day Saturday and just dont have the time needed. I like to come home and see what happened in the day games and then place a few for Saturday night.
Good Luck Everybody!!

Last Night 2-2
Season 18-23
As bad as things have been lately it kills me that so much of it was due to the one day. A 0-5 day isa heartbreaker. That being said it made me reevaluate the system because there was obviously a flaw, and that will pay dividends for the future.
