Bose just announced a new in-dash infotainment system that also includes a GPS navigation system. Nothing seems to extravagant for this media system but when Bose do stuff they seem to do it right.

It looks engineers at Bose spend some time fine tuning the user interface with the Media System:

Here’s the new kid on the GPS market — Map-Star. Powered by Samsung’s 400MHz S3C2440 processor, this navigation system runs on Windows CE 4.2 OS and Odyssey navigation software. To compete with other big boys, the device comes with an integrated SiRF Star III GPS receiver chipset, along with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display and multi-language voice guidance (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Korean). Maps of U.S and Canada, as well as over 1.5 million of POIs are already pre-loaded.

Planned to hit the store later this month, Map-Star GPS Navigation also doubles as a multimedia player with the ability to playback media files stored inside SD card slot.

Asus just release two of its new MyPal series PDA Phone, the A686 and A696 models. Powered by a 416Mhz Intel XScale processor, the cell phone features a 3.5-inch anti-glare touchscreen LCD display with 65K colors and 240×320 resolution, a 256MB Flash ROM, a 64MB SDROM, a SD card slot for additional storage, and an integrated microphone and speaker. Measures 117 x 70.8 x 15.7mm and weighs 165 grams, it supports wide-range of connectivity options, including WiFI, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, USB 1.1, and SIR.

Runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Edition OS, MyPal A696 PDA Phone also comes with a built-in GPS functionalities for satellite navigation purpose. Together with the A686 model, the two GPS PDAs are advertised as “Ultra Slim GPS PDA Sparkles with High Quality Feel” by the company.

Asus is a bit GPS happy these days. They seem to be embedding it in everything. Their new release is the Asus P735 which is the 3G version of P535, currently being tested and expected to be launched in March 2007. P735 will not have a keyboard and its design will be very similar with that of P535.

DeLorme just presented their latest handheld satellite navigation device, GPS PN-20 model. Priced at $370, the device comes with a 75MB internal flash memory and a SD card slot for additional storage. Only the world base map is pre-loaded, however, users can download other maps from the comany site, which include Topo USA maps, USGS 7.5 minute Quad-Maps, DOQQ aerial imagery, Sat-10 color imagery, and U.S street maps.
