Starless skies
sleepless nights
but I can't escape
to the saftey of the moonlight
and I sit here
waiting for the sun to stop crying its tears
wait for the light to heal broken years
wait for the night to let in the sun
wait for an absolution that may never come
just waiting
in the night of blackened hearts and weakened souls
yet I still can't escape night's deadness and cold
and people get used to darkness ; silent but bold
and I'm left here
waiting
with the tiniest little light in my eyes
as the darkness overcast all of the skies  read more »

sometimes

sometimes when i sit by myself at the dawn

i remember how i used to be so alone

but then you came to change my life

and let me know that my soul is alive

sometimes when my heart beats go higher

and i feel that my passion is put on fire

i ran to the open sea and sleep in a boat

and open your lettres to feel you with each word you wrote

i look at the sky and try to go so far

to see your angel face drawn by each star

sometimes when i feel that the world become so small  read more »

As I've grown older, I've found,

that my body has gotten more round.

As I try it,

another new diet,

I always add another pound.

The latest journey inside Shaun J. Apple's poetry. Shaun takes us through all new work that has never been shared before. Truth, justice, love, politics, and the environment are all themes that run rampet throughout States.

Come join Shaun on his latest journey through the realms of an avant-garde poetry underworld. Where themes such as the search for truth, disease, social justice, spirituality, falling in love, reproduction, politics, growing-up, childhood, space-tech, and the environment are all highlighted, and packaged creatively and imaginatively into a work of art called "States". http://www.scribd.com/doc/3762211/States-Shaun-J-Apple-2009-Experimental...

Why is it alright for black men to father babies and not be a father to them? Why is alright for black women to have multiple babies by different men out of wedlock and complain that there are no decent black men? Why is it alright that black men drive the latest cars with rims and tv's in the headrest and live at home with their mother? Why is it alright that  black women have fantasy requirements on meeting men(i.e. complexion, height, tool size) and when it's doesn't work out time and time again, complain again that there are no decent black men? Why do black men feel it's alright to lay up on women and family and not work?  read more »

14 Nights

it is only for 14 nights,
but emotions been running tight.
as the day slowly turns to night,
i can't bear the loneliness of the night.

i kept awake till the dawn of light,
keeping awake till the time is right,
to pick you up and hug you tight.
hoping that i don't have to go thru this plight,
coz its lonely throughout the 14 nights.  read more »

Cold air came around Thanksgiving
when people are busy preparing.
Precipitation loomed above,
and then the snow filled the air, gently falling.

People grabbed hat, coat and glove
and wiped their cars before they drove.
The snow made the holiday look Christmasy,—
white like feathers of a dove.

November, here we are, and we
have seen the year gradually
fulfill time,— long, lived.
November, here we are and we

have seen the year lived.
Cold air came around Thanksgiving
with easiness and easy drift.
The windows closed, still chill adrift.

The 1st edition of Smithereens In A Moment, by Shaun J. Apple, which is the sequel to the highly creative poetry book, Eons In A Moment (2007). The poems in this book cover various elements / feelings of life, romance, death, war, society, culture, travel, and love, plus the personal reflections of the author. Experimental / Avant-garde poetry and photography that seeks to share insight from interesting lines of emotion wrapped up with chunks of sentiments and sociological points. The main theme of this book is about life coming apart in a moment. Each poem has a photograph accompanying it, giving greater ambiance / feeling to the poem. A place where the poem was composed is given, making the reader aware of the location of the creative place outside of the poet's mind.  read more »

Clumsy Wife!!!

Shihab Ovi

Only people in this house; my clumsy old wife and I.
The money plant in the pot, has gone brown, died.

Her trinkets; her blouse are in the cupboard,
Ageing, they smell foul.
Time has eroded my spine, my once youthful legs
Tremble under my weight.

And my clumsy old wife, she just lies in the garden,
Silent out of sight. Once a week the carer comes,
her hands are cold, lacks warmth.

So what is the destination of the world?
So many cultures are wearing combat boots
and green uniform army suits.
where is the world coming from?
where is it going too?

Babies being born in every nation
under different flags meaning separation.
What is the ultimate goal we are heading for?
Will we ever reach freedoms golden door.

No signs of us getting together,
to make the world a lot better.
Funny things are happening with the weather,
people seen to be getting sadder,
even the children not much better.  read more »

The jury's out to lunch
and soaking up the sun
While they deliberate a cause
They're aware of effect
and the potential you neglect
Caught up in the thrills you love.

You can catch your flight or face
Every surface you defaced
like a fuckin vandal
Or you can live your life benign
Waiting for malignancy to strike.

Either way you fear it,
the uncertainty of words.

Cuz I laugh 'til I can't laugh no more
Til my sides split and my next words are hoarse.
I'm overboard.

Like a candle in the wind
This circumstance is grim
if you think you can change it.
Life dictates what we are
Predicts what's your next bet
and that you'll roll on four.

Either way you fear it,
that voice that will not agree.

Cuz I laugh 'til I don't laugh once more  read more »

My Dog

At the site of his future grave

I told him he was very brave,

I patted his soft furry head

Soon l would put him to his new bed,

I brought up the horrid gun

Knowing it would not be fun,

The first shot I hit him in the right

But my dog wasn't going to give up without a fight,

I saw him fall quickly down

With what appeared to be a frown,

He let out a desperate cry

The pitch beyond high,  read more »

To Nature's old self I cling,
although I should be a new creation
and enjoy the blessings that it brings.

I'm bound as a passive prisoner
wholly contained within my soul,
while personal chains constrict even tighter.

Jacob Marley would have been proud,
as I've forged my own binding links
that strangle the life force, which is continually cast down.

The freedom that I crave
won't be obtained by my own strength,
for only the Cross' power does truly save.

The might of the Living Word
with its reproducing, Dunamis power
enlightens my spirit with Truth that's been heard.

As long as I continue to believe,  read more »

Pushing this flesh into alignment,
guided by The Word most holy and pure,
I'm striving to learn principles
for a sanctified life to endure.

My Lord loves me without hesitation
and allowed a part of Himself to die.
He's calling me homeward without reservation;
by His Spirit, to His side, I'll eventually fly.

Knowing I'm a child of His,
during trying times I find true encouragement.
I'm able to lean on His strength
while in search of heavenly ascent.

Stumbling forward with pained progress,
I've chosen to turn myself towards Thee.
On Your path, lit by spiritual Light, I'm hoping...
That You will still forgive... a sinner like me.  read more »

A pull at the trigger
Swift blow to my head
Will surley leave me
Ungreatfully dead

I trust no one
But only my gun
No one else is there
When it is; im done

I hold it faithfully
it's always there
in the end i find out
i truley dont care

For the people who care
Sorry i had to die
This gun is the only
One who would'nt lie
