Wed, 01 Oct 2008 06:00:00 +0200 Sometimes, a dream home is not the one that lasts forever – it is the home that allows homeowners to change with their needs, wants and even the rest of the neighborhood. Such was the case with this Calgary home, built in 1960 as a 1,300-square-foot bungalow with three bedrooms, but that was taken to a new level by Channel Custom Builders. The company revamped the space to create a 2,100-square-foot home, complete with a basement apartment for older children or house guests, a workout room and a full lounge area. A luxury kitchen befits a couple with a bit more time on their hands, as does the spa-like bathroom that is the epitome of tranquility. About the BuilderChannel Custom Builders has been “Bringing GRAND PLANS to Life” for many discerning customers since 1991. With a focus on major renovation design & construction a full range of services are provided, from planning/pricing, product selection/design detailing & scheduling/lifestyle logistics to hands-on project management & after-sales service/warranty protection. Channel’s reputation for innovative design, construction quality & personalized customer service has become well-known and as “Renovator of the Year” in both 1999 & 2001, we are grateful to our peers in the industry for this acknowledgment. But enough about us … how can we help bring YOUR Grand Plans to life? Call or visit the website today for a private Show Home tour & project assessment or a complementary in-home consultation. Mon, 01 Sep 2008 06:00:00 +0200 When building a home from the ground up, it’s not necessarily simple to envision what may go inside. Staring into the deep hole of the foundation, the last thing on most homeowners’ minds is the placement of the bathtub or the type of flooring that will eventually lie underfoot. Fortunately, when Superior Construction took hold of this Toronto property, they had their plans firmly in mind. Demolishing a small home that previously stood on the land, they created a structure that would easily adhere to many families’ idea of a dream home. Ebony Kitchen & Bath was called in to create the beautiful custom-built kitchen and bathrooms for which the company is known. These luxurious areas are the most important for resale value, and Ebony’s exacting touches on the four bathrooms and large kitchen area undoubtedly contributed to its quick sale. About the BuilderEbony Kitchen & Bath is a small company dedicated to providing lasting bathroom and kitchen fixtures that will please you throughout your lifetime, at an affordable price. Fri, 01 Aug 2008 06:00:00 +0200 The great debate in real estate often comes down to the “can I live with it?” question. Buyers look at a home that may not be set out the way they’d dreamed, but they can envision “living with it” for the time being – at least, until they can afford to change it. This is the way this North Vancouver family has approached their home, a beautiful space enveloped by trees and with enough room to fit them comfortably for a few years. Working through one space at a time, the family has slowly been approaching their ideal, but still needed more from the main floor. Now they sought to create the entertaining space they’d always desired, calling in CCI Renovations to add a modern touch to their kitchen, great room and partial dining room. Carried out over five months, the work didn’t change the square footage, but did reinterpret the space to create more room, as well as About the BuilderCCI Renovations is a full service construction company with over 60 years of combined experience in the construction industry. Tue, 01 Jul 2008 06:00:00 +0200 As the years pass by, the homes that were built in the 1950s to accommodate the baby boom start to feel darker and cramped. At least, that’s how these Etobicoke, Ontario homeowners felt about their space when they called in Carick Home Improvements to help them make a change. The home had a lot of room – 2500 square feet, to be exact – but quartered-off areas made it feel smaller, and the layout was inconvenient for entertaining. The exterior of the home was in need of a refresh as well, something more in line with the homeowners’ desire for a French Country look. Collaborating with the homeowners, the designers at Carick worked with a $300,000 budget and completed the project over six months, deciding that walls would need to come down on the first floor to open up the space and create an eat-in kitchen that connected to a casually elegant dining area. Upstairs renovations (not pictured in this article) included enlarging the bedrooms and redoing the bathroom entirely, and the exterior of the home got an entirely new look. About the BuilderCarick Home Improvements is a second generation, family-owned, home renovation and remodeling contractor. Established in 1975, the company celebrates over 30 years of delivering quality craftsmanship, technical expertise and sterling customer service, combined with a flair for developing creative solutions that allows them to meet clients’ needs on time and on budget. Thu, 12 Jun 2008 06:00:00 +0200 When the house you’ve loved for years suddenly starts to feel too small for your needs, one of the most innovative ways to turn it back into a home is to create more room right where you are. Creating a second-storey (or third or fourth) becomes an easy task when you get companies like Modular Group involved. Modular Group has helped make this solution come to life for dozens of homes across the Greater Toronto Area, leaving families with a quick and easy solution, a better resale value on their home, and most importantly, more space. The Modular system carries pre-designed structures, giving homeowners options of 36 exterior walls, roof styles and domers, like picking and choosing the pieces of your own home. The process works wonderfully for mid-century homes that weren’t built with the area that homes now require, and also offer the opportunity to refresh the exterior and interior. Modular can move rooms around and restructure the home in its entirety, including the foundation. About the BuilderModular has developed a revolutionary concept using sophisticated computer software and building techniques. In just days, a second storey addition or new home, custom designed to your needs, can be built. All structural building parts are designed and built in a climate controlled environment. This enables us to have a high quality level and build all year round without leaving your house vulnerable to weather conditions. There is minimal noise, dust and no mess. Tue, 01 Apr 2008 06:00:00 +0200 When the owners of this late 19th-century home felt like their space was getting too cramped for their family’s needs, they called Bryant Renovations to help them open it up. An underutilized attic and chopped-up main floor were their main concerns. Bryant Renovations’ designer suggested removing the walls, while retaining the home’s heritage features. The budget for this renovation was $200,000, with the project being done in two parts, starting with the main floor in 2006, and finishing with the third floor in the winter of 2008. About the RenovatorsBryant Renovations provides you with superior construction and design expertise and creates a positive building experience with you. We gain your confidence and develop a co-operative relationship among the team members at all stages of the project. Bryant Renovations is a company with a great history and a contemporary outlook. |
