There are some really great newly released music videos floating around the internet right now, especially the new video for 'Piece of Me' by Britney Spears. Believe it or not, the music video is actually pretty cute - as it pokes fun of her own crazy life as stalked by the paparazzi. This is a song from her latest album "Blackout". Check out the video: (Courtesy of MTV) Madonna and John Mellencamp will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, along with Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five, and The Ventures. It seems like it has taken forever, but this is actually Madonna's first year of eligibility. If you'll remember, her debut single, "Everybody," was released 25 years ago in 1982. The induction ceremony into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will take place on March 10th, 2008 at New York's Waldorf Astoria. Other artists who were nominated this year but did not make the cut are the Beastie Boys (who were also eligible for the first time) and Donna Summer. So, in honor of Madonna getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - Post a comment here to tell us your favorite Madonna song! Mine...."Like A Virgin" - I still know all the words. Amy Winehouse' s mom, Janis Winehouse, is terribly worried about the way the singer's life is heading and so she has written an 'open letter' that pleads with Amy to come home and get well again. Janis is really afraid for her daughter, who constantly fights her drug addiction and alcohol problem, and whose husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is in jail for fixing a trial, and wants the 25-year-old star to get her life back on track. She was recently nominated for 6 Grammy Awards, and people are wondering if she even knows it! You can click here if you want to read the letter. Amy Winehouse was looking to have a very promising career. I am trying very hard to remain a fan, so I do hope she gets help. How many of you are Amy Winehouse fans, too? Post a comment to show your support! So I read on PerezHilton.com that Michael Jackson and his brothers are reuniting for a Jackson Five concert reunion... This is supposed to actually happen next year in 2008. Rumor has it that Janet Jackson may also be performing with the group. Acting as a spokesperson, Jermaine Jackson confirmed the news to BBC saying: "We feel we have to do it one more time. We owe that to the fans and to the public." And when asked whether or not Michael Jackson will be really be a part of this, Jermaine said: "He has to be, he is a Jackson. He was at the meetings. Michael will be involved." Wow, I'm not sure America is ready for this! This is very controversial after all that Michael Jackson has been involved in with his private life. What do you think? Would any of you actually pay to see this concert reunion!? Post a comment to let us know your thoughts on this! Hawthorne Heights , a band known for beautiful songs such as 'December', and 'Ohio Is For Lovers' reported sad news this week. Their guitarist, Casey Calvert, was found dead this past Saturday. The band posted this update on their website: "Today is probably the worst day ever. Its with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We've spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible. At this time we're not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don't contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don't want his memory to be tainted in the least. Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know. Sincerely, Hawthorne Heights" Do you have a favorite Hawthorne Heights song? Post a comment and let me know which one it is...I'm going to post 'Ohio Is For Lovers' for you here, in case you aren't familiar with the band. It's worth listening to. This is just really sad news! In very sad recent music news, Kanye West's mother, Donda, has passed away from what reports are calling complications from cosmetic surgery. The surgery was performed by Dr. Jan Adam, who is currently involved in all kinds of scandal including several malpractice lawsuits. Donda West was 58 years old and a retired professor from Chicago State University. She was always seen as a very supportive mom, and was often seen by Kanye's side at award shows and parties. In a recent concert in Paris, Kanye West broke down when he tried to sing "Hey Momma" and he was unable to finish the song. Band members stepped up to comfort the distraught rapper on stage. Kanye was then set to perform at the 2007 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on November 14, but he ended up cancelling the appearance due to his mother's death. Kanye West needs time to grieve, so in the meantime - show some love and buy his new album "Graduation". Or get it for free from 100Tunes. How can you not love The Eagles? With classic songs like Hotel California and Desperado, they are a favorite band of many people. With their first new studio album since 1979 called 'Long Road Out of Eden', they have Britney Spears beat for the #1 album even though they only sold it through Wal-Mart. The Eagles album sold 711,000 copies - while Britney Spears' album 'Blackout' only sold 290,000 for its debut. Pretty sad! It probably would have been a little closer if there had been any promoting on Britney's part to actually sell the album.
I have actually been meaning to pick up a copy of The Eagles cd. Have any of you listened to it? What songs do you like best? Post a comment to let us know! P.S. Britney Spears is now set to have the cd release of her newest album, Blackout, a bit earlier than expected - it went from November 13th to October 30th. With songs and videos (prime example: 'Gimme More') being leaked all over the internet, I guess she felt like she didn't have a choice. The label, Jive Records, is trying really hard to prevent any further illegal distribution of the material, but it is obviously not working.
This is the official track listing for the album: 1. Gimme More 2. Piece of Me 3. Radar 4. Break The Ice 5. Heaven On Earth 6. Get Naked (I Got A Plan) 7. Freakshow 8. Toy Soldier 9. Hot As Ice 10. Ooh Ooh Baby 11. Perfect Lover 12. Why Should I Be Sad So, even though she is a walking disaster, Britney Spears has managed to make it to (nearly) the top of the Billboard Music Charts. This week 'Gimme More' is at number 13, while last week the song was at number 6. Not bad for someone who hasn't made an album in 4 years and who has had the kind of drama and legal problems that she has. Has anyone heard any of the other songs? If so, post a comment to tell us what you think of them? And don't forget, you can earn 100 free music downloads at 100Tunes. Sign up today - it's free and easy! Well, not the whole album, but Michael Jackson is re-mixing four songs from the Thriller album for his next cd. It's a 25th Anniversary edition of Thriller, which will have re-mixes of 'Wanna Be Startin' Something', 'The Girl Is Mine', 'Billie Jean', and 'P.Y.T.'. And although these are all classic songs that I once loved, I'm not sure I can currently consider M.J. to be anything but weird and washed up. Apparantly, Kanye West, Akon, and Will.i.am will be assisting M.J. with the album, which will also include four leftover tracks from the Thriller sessions. I could only get confirmation on one of them, which is called 'Don't Be Messin' Around'. It's going to have to be a pretty good album too if Michael Jackson loses the $7 million lawsuit that he's involved in with the Prince of Bahrain. It seems as though M.J. didn't follow through on a contract with the prince in which Michael Jackson was supposed to release two albums, write an autobiography, and produce a Broadway type of show by the year 2012. The prince gave him a $7 million advance, but instead of getting started on the projects, Michael Jackson left the country and never returned. Hmmmm....seems very shady! What do you think of M.J. releasing a new cd? Post a comment and tell us if you just can't wait for it to come out or if you will run in the opposite direction in your local music store! Also, don't forget that you can earn up to 100 free music downloads at 100Tunes. If you read the Perez Hilton blog, you know what I'm talking about. It is definitely addictive. You will see every move the celebrities make, especially Britney Spears. We all know she is a mess, just by reading the Entertainment news headlines. But if you keep up with the lastest stories, you wouldn't believe what she's got going on. It's crazier than any soap opera you've ever seen.

Earn 100 Free Songs at http://www.100tunes.com/ The ongoing musical feud between rappers Kanye West and 50 Cent continutes to make headlines. The latest stir comes from 50 Cent who said that he will basically retire if Kanye West's new album "Graduation" outsells his own latest release "Curtis". So far in the United States, Kanye is outpacing 50 Cent by quite a bit.
We have yet to see a final count, however, and today's updated headline is that 50 Cent's album is in the lead in Europe. Who will win??? I have listened to both cd's, and there is good and bad with each. On 50 Cent's album, I really like 'Ayo Technology', which has become a radio hit. And on Kanye's cd, 'Flashing Lights' is a great track. So, give us your opinion on which rapper you think will outsell the other! Since next month (October) is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to make mention of Melissa Etheridge's new album. When I received this surprise it made me feel real good to finally win something. I couldn't believe it!" It Wont Be Soon Before Long that Maroon 5 becomes the most popular band of its generation. Forgive my corny pun, but Maroon 5’s new album, It Wont Be Soon Before Long, is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a while. I immediately took a liking to the band from the first time I heard their “Sunday Morning” track off of their first album, Songs About Jane; however, I wasn’t aware of how much I needed Adam Levine’s soulful voice in my life until the release of their follow up album in May 2007.
What I’ve always liked about Maroon 5 is their ability to create catchy songs that are innovative and fresh. It’s very rare that you hear a song on the radio and genuinely like it instantly; unless of course the tune is so catchy and cliché you find yourself singing along and ultimately end up hating yourself for it (cough, Avril Lavigne’s, “Girlfriend,” cough). But when I first popped the newly released It Wont Be Soon Before Long CD into my car, I immediately fell in love with every beat and lyric it contained. The band accomplished the feat of making each song sound so familiar yet so new, that I had to physically stop myself from trying to sing along to a song that I didn’t even know the lyrics to yet. Each song is so appealing in its own way, and the mix of rock and pop is blended to perfection on each track. In fact, I could see almost any track out of the 12 having hit-single potential. Although the album contains several up-beat tracks, Maroon 5 most definitely plays on your heartstrings by singing mostly about love and the pain of heartbreak in practically every song. In this way, almost anyone can identify with the album, and furthermore, since each song is actually filled with meaningful, heartfelt lyrics, you don’t feel like your IQ just dropped 10 points from listening to a bunch of fluffy, empty words from a bubble-gum artist (Paris Hilton’s, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” wouldn’t be a stretch perhaps?). It’s always so disappointing when you love the sound of a band’s first CD, eagerly anticipate for the second one, and are let down by how different the new album sounds. It is important for music artists to grow, but it is also important for artists to find a voice that suits them and stick with it. Maroon 5 really managed to capture their loveable Hall and Oats/The Police sound all over again, but this time with even better beats and deeper soul. This album succeeds at sounding modern, while simultaneously staying timeless, especially on bluesy tracks such as “Back at Your Door.” Although their beats may be a bit of an imitation at times, like on their “Not Falling Apart” track, (which I had to turn up before I realized it wasn’t “Every Breath You Take,” by Sting), the truth is that once Adam Levine’s tender voice comes through your speakers, he captivates you with his sweet-sounding vocals and distinct originality. And even though it is pretty much guaranteed that you will have quite a few 80’s flashbacks when listening to their album, I say, what’s wrong with that? Just like the fashion world brought back leggings and miniskirts this year, Maroon 5 brought back a Prince and Sting flavor to the music world. Maybe it’s just me, but I think we could use a little more of that funky, retro soul from the 80’s that we all know and love so much. Get free Maroon 5 songs at 100Tunes.com. And in case you need a little direction, some personal favorites of mine are, “Little of Your Time,” “Won’t Go Home Without You,” “Nothing Lasts Forever,” “Goodnight, Goodnight,” “Not Falling Apart,” and “Back At Your Door.” Hello my fellow music lovers! Look forward to hearing from you! -Lauren It is so much more convenient to download music online than to go to the local record shop to buy music, but how can consumers know if what they are doing is legal? There has been quite a bit of controversy about copyright infringement with peer-to-peer music sharing online, which is a good cause for concern. There are a few sure-fire ways to tell if an MP3 music download site is legal, though.
Even if there are offers of free song downloads, any legitimate music download service will eventually require users to pay for their music downloads. Since the music industry fought to protect their music from being stolen, an MP3 music download site has to pay to offer the music. Since the site has to pay for the access to copyrighted music, consumers eventually have to pay for the music downloads. The fee might be per song, per month, or with a lifetime subscription. A legal MP3 music download site should distribute music from reputable labels and artists, so there shouldn’t be too many crazy remixes and custom files that take a long time to download. Smaller MP3 music files are more likely to be found at an MP3 music download site that only sells legal material. Sights that offer other types of files such as video games and movies are also probably illegal. One strange thing about legal MP3 music download sites is that variety comes with a price. A more established music download service will give access to hundreds of thousands of songs but it will cost more than at a sight that only offers a few hundred songs. Legal MP3 music download sites must give a portion of their fees back to the recording industry for copyright fees. The songs are not disposable since the sound quality shouldn’t degrade over time, so they have to charge enough to make back what they paid to provide the music. Most legal MP3 music download sites don’t have the copyright authority to offer millions of music downloads. The songs and music are stored on servers with a fixed amount of space, unlike the tangled web of peer-to-peer music sharing files from the illegal sites. It is also very unlikely that they will get an agreement from every single record label to distribute their music downloads. Legal MP3 music download sites shouldn’t place dangerous and annoying spy ware or ad ware programs on their user’s computers, either. Anyone who finds these little tag-alongs has probably visited a disreputable site. Finally, consumers can spot a legitimate MP3 music download site by the copyright notice. A clearly written copyright notice should be provided on the site stating the nature of the site’s authorization to distribute legal music downloads, what consumers can do with the files once they’ve paid for them and any limitations on either party as far as use and distribution of the files. Oh yeah, and there shouldn’t be any peer-to-peer music sharing on a legal MP3 music download site. That one should be a no-brainer, though. A good source of music downloads will charge a nominal fee, although they may decide to offer free song downloads from time to time. These are a much better place to buy music than from some illegal and disreputable site. Music downloads are popular with so many different people, and some experts say they will eventually replace CDs. The newest emerging market for MP3 music downloads and other forms of digital music is women between the ages of 15 and 49. According to a new research study, this demographic has become the fastest growing group for MP3 music online. The fact is, though, that MP3 music downloads have increased in all demographics.
A survey by Digital Life America was conducted in the United States and by Fast ForwardTM in Canada. These research groups found that 28 percent of Americans over the age of 12 own a digital music player, which usually means an MP3 player. In 2005 only 12 percent of that group had an MP3 player or other digital music device, so the number doubled. When they looked at the number of women who owned MP3 players, though, they saw that the number had tripled from 8 percent to 27 percent. That means that three times the number of women is also downloading music online. The iPod is still the most popular MP3 player, and their share of the market increased from 53 percent to 68 percent in only one year. As MP3 players grow in popularity, so do the number of Americans who download music online. Nearly half of all Internet users in the United States are downloading music from pay sites or music sharing sources, which is a 31 percent increase from 2005. Not only are women buying more MP3 music players, but they are buying more MP3 music online. Nearly three times as many female Internet users are now regularly downloading music from paid online sites. There were also 14 percent of women Internet users choosing to download music per song online in 2006, compared to only 4 percent in 2005. The total number of Americans who paid for an MP3 music download increased significantly due to the digital music player boom. Since more people own MP3 players, more people have to download music online. In 2005, only 8 percent of Internet users paid for MP3 music online, which went up to 23 percent in one year. The survey was based on a random national sample of 1,016 interviews conducted by telephone in the United States in June, 2006. They compared their results to a similar survey that was conducted a year earlier. What this survey proves is that MP3 music downloads are here to stay. More and more markets continue to open up, bringing more consumers around to the benefits of MP3 music technology. If the number of people downloading music online continues to increase, this technology will surely replace CDs some day in the not-so-distant future. The advantage ofMP3 music files over CDs are that they can be stored in extremely small spaces. This can't truly be appreciated, however, without the addition of a portable MP3 player. Portable MP3 players are smaller than a deck of cards, but they can store thousands of MP3 songs. It's great being able to download music online and store it on the computer, but being able to take it anywhere is even better. With MP3s, people can do more with their music than ever before. An MP3 player can easily plug into almost any computer's parallel, FireWire or USB port and instantly transfer the MP3 music files from and to the computer. A simple software application allows consumers to transfer their MP3 music files from the computer onto the MP3 player by simply dragging the files. There are thousands of MP3 songs online, and downloading music is easy. Most people already have large CD collections, and that music doesn't have to go to waste just because someone decided to switch to MP3 technology. Ripper and encoder software converts songs from CDs to MP3 files. The ripper copies the song files from the CD onto a hard disk. The encoder compresses the song files into MP3 music format. This way all those CDs can be added to the collection of MP3 music files saved on a personal computer and portable MP3 player. Music lovers can also turn all those MP3 files into mixed CDs, or transfer their own recordings from a computer to a CD. It is simple to write MP3 files onto a blank CD in order to save them and clear some space on your hard disk.
