In 2007, Congressman Ron Paul introduced the Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act, HR 2755, which would end the Federal Reserve Act and phase out the Federal Reserve within one year. The proposed legislation has been stalled in the House Committee on Financial Services (surprised?) with no sign of progressing...but suddenly, there's a new buzz about the bill.

On the one hand, this makes me feel kind of bad for old John McCain. And on the other, I'm wondering if it's a Freudian slip and he actually does see us that way. Citizens Prisoners of the United States of America.

Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton gave a speech at the 8th Annual Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee Luncheon this week in New York City. She included a passionate endorsement for Senator Barack Obama, saying she is 'absolutely positive with ever fiber of my being' that Sen. Obama should be elected to the White House.
Yes, I know, that title needed a lot more finesse. David C. Kernell has turned himself into authorities and has been charged with one count of hacking. He's been indicted by a federal grand jury in Tennessee for allegedly hacking into Gov. Sarah Palin's Yahoo! e-mail account by guessing at her password recovery questions until he got in.

I don't know where these things come from or what they're called, but usually these postcard-ish graphics with the description underneath are pretty darn funny.

Do we notice a trend here? Celebs who do these active reality shows get buff bods to show for it! Marie Osmond went from DWTS to a diet product endorsement, as did Jillian Barberie Reynolds after performing on Skating with Celebrities; Mario Lopez came out with a fitness book after partnering up with Karina Smirnoff on Dancing With The Stars.

The United States is certainly not the only country teetering on the edge of economic peril, if it makes you feel any better. On Monday, Prime Minister Geir Haarde warned that the country is facing bankruptcy.

First Senator John McCain refused to shake Senator Barack Obama's hand at the 2nd presidential debate; and then McCain refers to Obama as 'that one.'

Vice Presidential candidate and Governor Sarah Palin was heckled at a recent campaign stop in Estero, Florida. It's hard to tell what the man was yelling, but it was overshadowing Palin's speech and she turned to address the heckler directly.
Don't tell me we never give fun good news. Seattle is currently holding tryouts for their all-female Lingerie Football League.

Kanye's new song Love Lockdown is perfect for clubbing, riding around in the car, vacuuming the living room - whatever. It's got a techno sound, a slick beat, and catchy lyrics. And Kanye's new album is yet another that is coming up over the holiday season: 808s & Heartbreak will be out on November 25th.

In 2000, according to Forbes, AIG was the 18th-largest company in the world. American International Group hit a financial crisis this year, however, and turned to the U.S. Federal Reserve for a rescue package to save them from going under. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York granted $85 billion for the effort (no, they didn't ask you first) through a credit-liquidity facility, the largest bailout by the Federal government of a private company in history other than the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailout. Oh, and now the $850 billion bailout of who-knows-who by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

I've mentioned before that Girls Next Door is one of my guilty pleasure shows, and for some reason I am sad about this news. It's supposed to be Holly and Hef forever! Sure, he's 82 and she's 28...but it's Holly and Hef! She said she was cloned in a lab to be the perfect mate for Hugh M. Hefner! If you haven't figured out what I'm rambling about yet, Holly Madison and Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner have broken up.

Love it...love it...love it! I was just thinking the other day, we haven't had a really good getchya-back song in a while - perhaps since Blu Cantrell's Hit 'Em Up Style. We do have Rihanna's Breakin' Dishes song, but that's not as melodic in the vocals as Blu, and now, Jazmine Sullivan.

You may have heard Congressman Dennis Kucinich bring up the plight of Addie Polk before the House of Representatives, right before they approved the $800 - $850 billion bank bailout plan. Addie is a 90-year-old woman in Akron, Ohio, who was behind on mortgage payments for the home she's lived in since 1970. But Addie is far from the only one taking desperate measures in desperate financial times. Sadly, a 45-year-old Los Angeles man, with a finance degree but who had been unemployed for several months, turned his financial woes into a murder-suicide on Saturday.

Well, musicians are certainly working overtime lately! There are so many new songs and albums coming out between now and Christmas that we can hardly keep track. I'll have to post a new, revised list.

Things often get heated on The View during Hot Topics (bad pun and it stays), and this episode was one of those. Barbara Walters, ever the peacemaker, can't understand why people can't avoid smearing with regard to the presidential campaign, when there are so many far more important things to discuss than discrediting one another.

Dancing With The Stars was on last night, and it was revealed that American beach volleyball player and DWTS contestant Misty May-Treanor (and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy) is out of the competition after rupturing her achilles heel during rehearsal. The video below is not for the squeamish (unless the sound is turned off).

We fought it with everything we had...and so many of you sent your own letters to the House of Representatives, the Senate, and your Congressmen. But in the end, we lost, and on Friday the House approved the largest government bailout in the history of the USA: now closer to $800 billion dollars.

She's said it on the campaign trail. She said it on 60 Minutes - in fact, it was the only example she could cite for Katie Couric about John McCain's track record in the Senate. She said it at the Vice Presidential debate; and she's said it far more times than that. Sarah Palin just can't stop talking about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. But what is the truth of that story? Not what she's saying.
  Mon, 06 Oct 2008 12:53:47 +0200
Congressman Ron Paul warns that the American people should stay on their toes, that a bankrupt country may be next. The new bailout bill - the one that passed in the House on Friday - is worse than the original, he said.

Bob Saget is gonna be pissed! Remember when People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) launched an aggressive anti-Olsen twins campaign to get out the message of antifur? Well they haven't forgotten about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen this Halloween...they're giving out free masks to anyone who's interested.

R&B star Brandy Norwood was on Hot 97 FM talking to Angie Martinez about her brand new album, Human, which drops November 11th. (Yes, add that to the list of upcoming albums before Christmas!) Brandy talked about all that she's been through in the last few years, including the tragic car accident she was involved in, the dissolution of her marriage spiritual union, her brother Ray-J and the leak of his sex tape, and watching her 'dope' daughter grow up.

The bank bailout, H.R. 1424, Emergency Economic Stabilization, financial rescue plan, whatever you want to call it, is not at all limited to Wall Street. In fact, it's not even limited to the United States of America.

Martial arts pro and actor Chuck Norris used to be a Mike Huckabee supporter. But appearing on the Alex Jones Show this week, Norris revealed that there is only one politican left that he trusts: and it's not Huckabee. In fact, he now says Ron Paul is the only politician he trusts.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is changing the law so that he can run for a third four-year term. But now he may have more problems than just the critics of his latest legislative move.

Alright, so we all know that Governor Sarah Palin has taken John McCain's term Maverick and used it for herself as well: there's just a team of mavericks, now, those two. I'd like to take this opportunity to post the definition of the word maverick.

Just 27 more days until Pink's new album Funhouse hits stores in the U.S. on October 30th! I can hardly contain my excitement. Here's a new promo pic for the album...she's looking fierce!
I was pretty surprised to find a personal response in my inbox from one of my Ohio Senators to the scathing letter I sent off this week regarding the Senate's endorsement of the $700 billion - $3 trillion bank and Wall Street bailout. Not that the reply put me at ease whatsoever. Let me tell you what's shocked me in all of this. Every single Democratic Senator that has made a fuss about the decision of the George W. Bush administration over these years voted for in favor of Bush's bailout proposal. Dianne Feinstein; Christopher Dodd; Joe Lieberman; Joe Biden; Barack Obama; Harry Reid; Hillary Clinton; Patrick Leahy; John Kerry. They all voted for it.

Capt. Michael J. Medders of Avon Lake, Ohio died on September 24th in Jisr Naft, Iraq, from wounds suffered when a suicide bomber detonated a vest during operations. Capt. Medders was 25 years old.

I was disappointed by last night's Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. Biden, Barack Obama, and John McCain all voted yes to the staggering bank bailout plan just the night before; and then Joe Biden and Sarah Palin spent the night talking about how we must stop financing corruption on Wall Street. Huh?
There are some interesting Proposals making their way across the nation this November. We've mentioned Prop 2, which is on the ballot for California and would protect animals from harm while also making the food supply safer for everyone. But it's not just the Golden State: there are big issues on the books for the Midwest, too.

I knew there had to be a reason I don't like Hershey's chocolate!! No offense, Hershey, I love your Pennsylvania headquarters and what you do for American business: but you can't fool a woman when it comes to chocolate. And I don't say no to any other brand of the stuff.

The woman does it all! In addition to being a semi-new mommy, actress and humanitarian Salma Hayek is out fighting the perils of the planet. Yesterday, Salma attended a press conference from Geneva for UNICEF - with whom she's a spokesperson - to speak out about the epidemic of tetanus.

At least 20 people were killed and 35 wounded in separate suicide attacks outside Shiite mosques in Baghdad, Iraq yesterday. One of the suicide bombers was just a teenager, with explosives strapped to his vest. Others were car bombs.

While I am often charged up about politics, there have been few instances in my lifetime in which I have been so affected, emotionally or otherwise, by a political decision that it has kept me up at night. The $700 billion bank bailout measure that's going before the House on Friday is one of them.

Which Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate's image is selling the most Halloween costumes this year? Costume stores are saying their mask sales have predicted election winners in the past. So whose mask is leaving shelves faster: Barack Obama, John McCain, Sarah Palin, or Joe Biden?

Prior to the Senate endorsing the $700 billion bank bailout, Ron Paul made another media appearance, this time on CNN via telephone.

This is going to be very, very interesting, my friends. Beginning just a few months from now - pending an announcement by the USDA - all of your meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables (both frozen and fresh), as well as poultry, ginseng, pecans, and macadamia nuts, must have a label of origin that states what country it came from.

Do you know what tonight is? At 9:00 PM EST, Senator Joe Biden will meet up with Governor Sarah Palin at the Washington University in St. Louis Athletic Complext for the first Vice Presidential debate of 2008.

Health care is an issue that's close to home for millions of Americans, and yet it's now seeming to take a back burner to the hot button issue of the economy that has reached a startling heat in the past several weeks.
  Thu, 02 Oct 2008 14:40:16 +0200
And so they have. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the ink is drying on a new contract for Rosie to do at least one hour-long variety show, to air live on prime time on Thanksgiving Eve, November 26th.
The bad news for the night is that the Senate emerged from their closed-door powow tonight strongly endorsing the $700 billion + bailout package. Both presidential candidates - John McCain and Barack Obama - showed up in support of the proposal, which has drawn heaps of angry skepticism from the American public.
  Thu, 02 Oct 2008 05:47:02 +0200
This looks very bad for Nancy Pelosi. The Washington Times has just published an exclusive story that Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi took almost $100,000 from her political action committee (PAC) and gave it to her husband's real estate and investment firm over the past 9 years.
  Thu, 02 Oct 2008 05:44:17 +0200
Reckless...dishonest...a Make-Believe Maverick. These are just a few of the terms Rolling Stone has used to describe Senator John McCain in their latest cover story - and that was just in the opening title.

This is the perfect video to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Ellen DeGeneres had 8-year-old Katie Gold as a guest on her show today. Katie's grandmother is a 25 year breast cancer survivor, Katie decided to take matters into her own hands to raise money for finding a cure for breast cancer.

Occasionally I like to tune in to watch the ladies on The View bicker about politics. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is usually on top of her far-right game (albeit with notes prepared), got a pop quiz from Barbara Walters today and failed with flying colors.
  Wed, 01 Oct 2008 14:23:25 +0200
It has only been two days since the bank bailout measure failed to pass in the House with a final count of 228 to 205. But tonight, the Senate will be voting on a barely-revised version of the Wall Street rescue plan.

More than 80% of breast cancer cases are discovered when a woman feels a lump. Women in the United States have the highest incident rates of breast cancer in the world. But in the last few years, the number of deaths from breast cancer have declined, and much of this is attributed to preventative care and early detection.
This does not surprise me at all. Enrage, yes; but surprise, no. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants to change the law so that he can run for a third term.

In preparation for Thursday night's debate between Vice Presidential candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin, CBS News aired another part of Katie Couric's interview with Sarah Palin. For the first time John McCain sat down for a joint interview with his running mate.

Whenever we've posted Al Gore news in the past, it's usually gotten a pretty positive response. He's our former Vice President; he's won the Nobel Peace Prize (and a Primetime Emmy Award); and his 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth was praised worldwide for raising awareness about global warming.

Bush said that the nation is "facing a choice between action and the real prospect of economic hardship for millions of Americans. What is he, behind?

Rachel Maddow officially took over MSNBC's 9 pm timeslot from Dan Abrams on September 8th, and since then an average of 1.64 million viewers have tuned in for the show - more than double the number of those who watched the same hour in the first eight months of the year, according to the LA Times.

For some reason I am fascinated by this show. The Duggars series Seventeen Kids And Counting just premiered on TLC last night. The show is about Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, an Arkansas couple that has 17 children, plus one on the way.
I don't know why I'm torturing you with this, but it's funny in an awful, eardrum-blistering type of way. Paris Hilton recorded a new song for her reality show called My BFF. What is she, 12 10 8?

I don't know of any other actress who's won more suits against the paparazzi. It looks like they'd run the other way when they saw her coming. The thing is Sienna Miller is actually suing the publishers and winning.

You broke it, you bought it! The bailout is bullsh*t! These were the chants heard on Wall Street last week as over 500 protestors gathered to voice their opposition of George W. Bush's proposed $700 billion bank bailout measure. The good news? The bailout has been struck down after mover than two-thirds of Republicans voted against it.

Sgt. Daniel M. Eshbaugh of Norman, Oklahoma died on September 18th in Tallil, Iraq, when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter he was in went down.
The majority of you have voted in our poll that you want to see more politics on this site...so we're listening! And many of you also wanted to read about animal rights issues, and this measure combines both of these subjects. Californians have the opportunity to vote for Prop 2 on November 4th. The measure would stop cruel and inhumane treatment of animals in meat market farms; it would also go after downed animal practices.

We were going to do a recap and critique of Saturday's debate between Senator's John McCain and Barack Obama, which drew astonishing viewership at 52.4 million. However most of you are probably over it by now since the MSM hammered it to death, so instead I'm going to present a list of 15 things to question about John McCain - some arisen from the debate, some not.

Congressman Ron Paul was on FOX News again discussing the economic crisis in the States and how it's having an international effect. The FOX News anchor referred to Congressman Paul as a 'genius in this,' and probed him about the inside talks regarding the proposed (and now struck down) $700 billion bank bailout.
We've been waiting for some Dennis Kucinich news, since the Congressman launched his impeachment campaign against President George W. Bush over the summer.

So much video news today! Funnyman from our native Cleveland, Ohio, Drew Carey, was on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson over the weekend.

Perhaps in confidence that the financial bailout will proceed, Senator John McCain as revoked his 'suspension' of his campaign and is back on schedule for tonight's debate with Senator Barack Obama at the University of Mississippi. (Or it could be because Sen. Obama's campaign made it crystal-clear that the debate was on whether McCain showed up or not.) But despite some reports to the contrary - mostly via investors with their fingers crossed - the $700 billion bank bailout plan has not yet been approved.

I never imagined Al Gore as the protesting type, but the former Vice President is now urging America's youth to protest against coal-fired plants that aren't effectively eliminating their carbon output.

Gee, we wonder if John McCain's camp could have anything to do with this? The search phrase 'McCain wins debate' has bounced around in the Top 10 Searched items on Google Trends today, and the debate hasn't even started yet.

So many people stepping it up to help kids in need lately! We told you this week that Mariah Carey is becoming a Global Hunger Ambassador. And now Nicole Richie - who has already had a foundation for kids for a while now - visited Beyond Shelter recently and was touched by the 175 children with families there, playing in a concrete courtyard and taking turns playing in a rec room that allows only ten kids at a time.

Will Smith has signed on to star in the prequel to I Am Legend. Since they killed Will off in I Am Legend they had to do a prequel or a ghost story. Since Warner Bros grossed an estimated $584 million on the film they had to figure out some way to capitalize on it's popularity.

Did everyone get to see President George W. Bush give his address to the nation last night regarding the economy and his proposed $700 billion big bank bailout? If not, you didn't miss much. Basically he said that we all have lots of questions about how we got here - which, those of us who have been following the national deficit since the Iraq invasion really don't.

When I saw John McCain on 60 Minutes recently, I thought, Wow, somebody put a thick layer of good makeup on that man, because he does not look like that. I thought right.

David Letterman may actually have gotten more out of John McCain cancelling his appearance on The Letterman Show than he would have if McCain actually showed up! In his intro last night, Letterman was none too pleased with the snub.

Hmm. I always thought one-hit wonder was hyphenated. I guess its subjective. Anyhow, paging Benny Mardones, Devo, Joey Scarbury, Bow Wow Wow, Soft Cell, Thomas Dolby, Peter Schilling, Club Nouveau, Bobby McFerrin, Calloway, Deee-Lite, and many, many more: today is National One Hit Wonder Day, believe it or not.

I think PETA is a great organization and they've done some clever marketing campaigns lately. I mean, the I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign was brilliant marketing. Even getting Pam Anderson involved was a good move. They get tons of great press and a lot of people respond positively to it. But I think they've crossed the line this time.

The following message was written by former Republican presidential candidate and Congresman Ron Paul regarding the big bank bailout package currently before Congress.
  Thu, 25 Sep 2008 00:34:03 +0200
Although the present bailout package is almost certainly not the end of the political atrocities we'll witness in connection with the crisis, time is short. Congress may vote as soon as tomorrw. With a Rasmussen poll finding support for the bailout at an anemic seven percent, some members of Congress are afraid to vote for it. Call them! Let them hear from you! Tell them you will never vote for anyone who supports this atrocity.

This is really, really sad. This week we told you about how Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin used her role as Governor in Alaska to sue the George W. Bush administration for its decision to list polar bears as an endangered species. This decision was made after summer sea ice - the polar bears' much-needed habitat - sank to a record low last year.

It's more than the 82 minutes Nicole Ritchie served, and longer than the four hours Khloe Kardashian spent in jail...but then again, they didn't permanently incapacitate anyone. I don't know - I heard a lot of noise from the Democratic Senators regarding the Iraq invasion, but five years later, we're still there. So we'll see if they stick to their guns this time. The George W. Bush administration wants to give $700 billion to big banks and financial institutions as a bailout for bad mortgages and investments. But considering the banks are the ones who actually got the foreclosed properties back - leaving the former homeowners with nothing but debt - Democrats are taking pause at bailing out the banks and not the middle class families who were affected. And it's not just the Democrats, either.

As we've said before, at least 13 of the 16 cases of mad cow disease in North America have come from downed animals. Cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, and equines who are injured or sick and are called downed, and when they are let into the food supply it has disastrous consequences (including the largest beef recall in U.S. history earlier this year).

For the first elimination, though, I'm going to give my prediction for the bottom three only (although Samantha will probably do the whole in no particular order schtick). Jeffery Ross. He's hilarious, and he's paired with the uber-gorgeous Edyta Sliwinska. But I just don't think he's made for dancing. Chef Rocco DiSpirito is a hot-tie, paired up with Karina Smirnoff - and as much as I'd like to see him stay, I don't think he has the fan base a lot of these stars came on with. And finally Maurice Greene, paired with Cheryl Burke. I think he'll be out soon, too.

No, it's not a Harry Potter misspelling. Bollywood Studios has actually made a film by the name of Hari Puttar: A Comedy of Terrors. The Hari in this story has an imaginary friend and is trying to thwart a couple of hoods who are attempting to steal a computer chip. It's like the Hindi version of Home Alone.

Sarah Palin. No, we are not just talking about a woman who likes to hunt. Put aside the fact that polyester can be spun into faux fur stoles, muffs, and coats, and that there's no good reason to continue to cut the skin from animals to steal their coats. We're talking about a woman that has every intention of converting her anti-environment plight into legislation. She wants to drill in waters that whales call their only home. She wants to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve.

If only this got as many headlines as the tabloid trash. As you may know, President-not-for-much-longer George W. Bush is tacking on another insult to taxpayers in addition to the $9 trillion national deficit before he makes his exit: he's asking Congress to agree to pay around $700 billion (out of your pockets) to banks and financial institutions in the U.S. to bail them out of defaulted mortgages, foreclosed real estate, and other bad investments.

This is the kind of thing that drives me crazy, because the U.S. went to war with Iraq over a false lead that Iraq might have nuclear weapons. Yet today North Korea is saying they do not care to be taken off the United States' terrorism blacklist, and refuse to abide by a nuclear disarmament deal.

Not that this is much of a surprise, but the mainstream media has been more focused on Barack Obama's 'lipstick on a pig' comment in the past week than anything remotely politically-related. FreePress.net has put together this amusing (albeit hair-pullingly ridiculous) series of clips of just how wild the MSM went for those four words. And if you're a member of our forum, you got to see it first!

I'm of the belief that what goes on behind their closed doors is their own business, whether it's in Texas or the White House or anywhere, when it comes to...personal relations. But despite wanting to see public interest in her husband John Edwards' affair go away, Elizabeth Edwards spoke to the Detroit Free Press in an in-depth interview published this week.

Sarah Palin, the Republican Vice Presidential candidate and overnight celebrity, has become one of the most blogged-about topics on the 'net. And that includes yours truly. We still haven't gotten into our opinion on her hunting and aerial-killing history, but we'll save that for another day and just leave it at: I think I may go for Halloween as Sarah Palin with a bloody caribou over my shoulder (fake, of course). And I don't think I'll be the only one.

Both Beny and Ayuel walked for months across Sudan to arrive at separate refugee camps in Ethiopia. Beny was 9 and Ayuel 7. Later Beny came to Panyido where he met Ayuel. They spent 4 years there and 10 in Camp Kakuma, Kenya. They came to Kansas City in the summer of 2001. At first I thought it was an interesting story that people would be interested in. But as we progressed their goal became mine: to get the story out about the crisis in Sudan where 2 million people died and many more are displaced so that the world community may know and use their resources to help.
