According to Accuracy in Media, U.S. taxpayers already spend $200 billion at home and around the world to fight AIDS and it has not resulted in any cures or a vaccine, and anti-AIDS drugs are coming under increased scrutiny for their ineffectiveness and side-effects.
However, as the American Dollar becomes weaker, the national debt rises and gas prices soar, maybe we need to spend an additional $50 billion dollars on the issue world wide in places such as Russia and China. That was the thinking in the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, who passed a measure to do just that in a 80-16 vote. According to one Republican Senator who sided with Democrats on the issue, the additional spending will surely make the world love us. "It's one of the strongest ways the U.S. has made an impact on a number of countries where our diplomacy hasn't been effective in the past," said Sen. Richard G. Lugar (R-Ind.) Both Obama and McCain were original sponsors of the bill, but neither voted on the measure because they were busy on the campaign trail. Go figure. The 16 nay votes included one from a staunch McCain ally, Senator Lindsey Graham of SC. Total nay voters were as follows: Allard (R-CO), Barrasso (R-WY), Bunning (R-KY), Cornyn (R-TX), Craig (R-ID), Crapo (R-ID), DeMint (R-SC), Ensign (R-NV), Graham (R-SC), Gregg (R-NH), Hutchison (R-TX), Inhofe (R-OK), Kyl (R-AZ), Sessions (R-AL), Vitter (R-LA), and Wicker (R-MS). As support rose for the measure, Senators Jim DeMint, David Vitter and Jeff Sessions attempted to reduce the size and reach of the bill. "It's not a good time to be talking about spending billions of American dollars around the world, no matter how good the cause might be," DeMint said. Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky said “We need to ensure that these funds reach the neediest countries and not those that can afford their own space and nuclear programs, such as China and Russia. At a time when China is tripling their defense budget and manipulating their currency, I have a hard time sending billions of dollars over there…” Of course the voices of reason never seem to get too far. Senator DeMint’s amendment to limit the countries in which the AIDS money could be spent was defeated 70-24. Accuracy in Media said that the passed measure for additional spending "demonstrated the complicity of both major political parties in out-of-control spending designed to benefit a powerful special interest group." ---------- ref: http://www.aim.org/aim-column/senate-passes-obamas-aids-bill/, http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-aids17-2008jul17,0,1671855.story Back during the Vietnam war, Canada was the place of choice for draft dodgers and military deserters. Apparently, Canada is in no mood for a massive encore.
U.S. Army deserter Robin Long is believed to be the first of the Iraq war that Canada has kicked out their country. Long was deported from Canada Tuesday and was immediately arrested when he crossed into the United States. The Federal Court of Canada rejected Long's request to let him stay in the country pending further appeals. A spokesman for the U.S. Army, said Long would be returned to Fort Knox, Ky., for disciplinary procedures, including possible prison time. So, what happens if Liberals no longer have a Canada to run to? Hollywood may be forced to suck it up and soldiers may be forced to honor their commitments. Oh the horror! ------------- ref: http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/07/16/Canada_kicks_out_US_deserter/UPI-60911216186989/ There's much talk in the mainstream media about how Sen. Barack Obama's poll numbers reflect that the candidate is not crossing "the racial divide." On Tuesday a New York Times/CBS poll reflected that 83 percent of blacks had a favorable opinion of Obama, compared to only 31 percent of white voters.
What is not being talked about by the mainstream media is the underlying cause for the numbers. Many will surely see these polls as an act of blatant racism by whites against a candidate of partial African American heritage. In all actuality, it may be more of a reflection of their disdain for racism and Obama's connection to it. American voters are notoriously known for their short-term memories. Occasionally however, something comes along that is so horrific that it sears into their memory. The hateful, racist, sexist, anti-semantic and anti-white teachings of Obama's former pastor-the Rev. Jeremiah Wright-is such an occasion. No, Obama has not crossed the "race divide." If anything, his twenty year support of a "church"-that teaches racism, hate and paranoia-has threatened to widen it. ------------ ref:http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN1537518720080716 My sister is a scrub nurse. That's the person who stands beside and assists surgeons during a surgical procedure. A few years ago she assisted in an open heart surgery case. She has never been to medical school nor has she ever actually performed the operation herself. However, if you happen to need the surgery, she may be willing to help you out.Concerned about her qualifications? Rest assured, she has seen the surgery performed countless times on television and has access to countless reports on the procedure. I'm sure she would do a great job and save any cardiology patient a tremendous amount of money. Professional surgery can be expensive. If you are voting for Obama, I'm sure that you will have no hesitation in utilizing my sister's services. After all, you are willing to trust Obama with the job of overseeing our troops in Iraq. Obama has never served in the military and has not been to Iraq in over two years. Although it has been a while since he's actually seen the situation in Iraq first hand-918 days and counting-he already knows exactly what's going on and has a plan to handle it. He has undoubtedly heard countless reports on the situation and has seen it numerous times on television. It just so happens, that another guy named Sen. John McCain would prefer to oversee the procedures taking place in Iraq. He's been in the military, has commanded forces, was once a prisoner of war and visits Iraq every few months. There is no need to have second thoughts though, because according to Obama, he is still the best guy for the job. Although he obviously feels it's unnecessary, Obama has agreed to take another visit to Iraq later this month. He argued in San Diego on Sunday that just because Sen. John McCain has made multiple visits to Iraq, that does not mean that McCain has the correct perspective on the region. He pointed out that unlike his rival, he knows "the difference between Shia and Sunni" Muslims. McCain once mixed up their names. There's also the issue of the price tag. "Before we went into Iraq, I said that we would be bogged down, that it would cost us billions of dollars," Obama said. Why ever would America need a surgeon, if a scrub nurse is willing to handle the job? ----------- ref:http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/07/do-visits-to-ir.html Those of the leftist mindset appear to be miffed at Sen. Barack Obama at the moment. A quick glance at news reports is leading many of them to believe that he has changed his mind on every bra-burning issue at stake in the 2008 election.
This election year, we have been exposed to the two Barack Obamas-the one who won the Democratic Primary and the one that hopes to win a general election. Democratic Primary Obama said "the best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq's leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops." General Election Obama says it is possible the timeline could slip if the pace of withdrawal needs to be slowed some months to ensure troop safety. "I have always said ... I would always reserve the right to do what's best," he said. Primary Obama approved abortion under any and all circumstances. General Election Obama appeared open to more restrictions when speaking to Relevant Magazine. "I have repeatedly said that I think it's entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict, well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don't think that 'mental distress' qualifies as the health of the mother," Obama said. "I think it has to be a serious physical issue that arises in pregnancy, where there are real, significant problems to the mother carrying that child to term. Otherwise, as long as there is such a medical exception in place, I think we can prohibit late-term abortions." Primary Obama expressed his frustrations with small town voters for "clinging to guns and religion." General Election Obama supported the overturn of the D.C. Gun ban, hopes to extend Bush's faith-based initiative programs and insists that he is a committed Christian. If American voters are puzzled over Obama's occasional transformation, they must come to terms with the fact that he is-after all the hype-a "typical" politician. Obama's yo-yo stances most likely have little to do with the occasional crisis of a conservative conscience and everything to do with his desire to be elected. ----------------------- ref:http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gXhIn6Dsn59np7LYG6eYS5GubXUAD91MPRP00, http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/07/obama_aligned_with_scalia_thom.html,http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/05/AR2008070501854.html?hpid=topnews,http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jun/27/barackobama.usa This is an email sent today by the office of U.S. Sen. Conservative Ally - The skyrocketing cost of fuel is burning a hole in the pockets of Americans. It’s elevating the cost of food and other necessities our families depend on to live their everyday lives. It is our obligation and responsibility as your leaders in Washington to do everything in our power to end our dependence on foreign oil and alleviate the burden that’s been placed on our citizens. I wanted to take a moment today to introduce you to a new website that’s caught a lot of attention in Washington. Just last week I signed an online petition at Newt Gingrich’s American Solutions PAC called Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less. - A Real Change Campaign to Lower Your Gas Price. Well over half a million fellow conservatives have already signed the petition and I am asking you to join me in sending a strong message that we must decrease our dependence on foreign oil and explore our resources here on our own soil. On the American Solutions Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less. website you can keep up with the latest news regarding domestic drilling and the increasing costs – both literal and figurative – of the rising price of fuel. I hope you’ll join me today in sending the message to Washington that we can’t sit back while working families suffer under the strain of high gas prices. We have to take steps now to bring real solutions to the table and we can’t wait idly by watching the price per barrel continue to increase. By signing the petition, sending emails, and spreading the word we can make Washington listen. Friends, I want to send a message so strong it will make their ears ring. I hope you’ll stand with me. Sincerely, Jim DeMint PS - Click here to sign the American Solutions Drill Now petition. Click here for a special online message from Senator Jim DeMint. The A.C.L.U.-affectionately known as the American Communist Lawyers Union by some-has now set its sites on the U.S. Naval Academy as a target for a potential lawsuit. In the eyes of the A.C.L.U., the preferences of nine midshipmen-who contacted them over their objections to lunchtime prayer-apparently override the rights and convictions of all other attendees.
In a letter dated May 02,2008 and written to Vice Admiral Jeffery L. Fowler of the U.S. Naval Academy, an A.C.L.U. legal director by the name of Deborah A. Jeon warned that it believes that it is "long past time for the Naval Academy to discontinue the official lunchtime prayers." Jeon stated that some were put in a "difficult position" during the moment "if as a matter of conscience" they did not wish to join along. Most of the complaints appear to stem from the midshipmen's concerns of how others perceive their lack of participation in prayer. "Everybody else is participating with their heads bowed and their arms crossed," one Agnostic said anonymously in an interview. "It became very obvious that you aren't participating,"she said. Another recent graduate, who is an atheist told The New York Times that whether officers make participating in the prayer voluntary or not, “they make it very clear that this is the standard." Apparently their "matter of conscience" does not include a backbone. They lack the strength to stand nobly for their own convictions, so they are now attempting to deny others the right to stand for theirs. However, the U.S. Naval Academy appears in no hurry to willfully trample on the constitutionally given rights of the majority to accommodate the selfish desires of a few. "The academy does not intend to change its practice of offering midshipmen an opportunity for prayer or devotional thought during noon meal announcements," the university said in a statement. The Academy also stated that some form of prayer has been offered for midshipmen at meals since the school's founding, in 1845, and that it is "consistent with other practices throughout the Navy." ----- ref:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/25/AR2008062501549.html?hpid=moreheadlines, http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/ACLU__Midshipmen_Prayer/2008/06/26/107582.html, http://www.aclu.org/pdfs/religion/2008may02_lettertonavy.pdf?loc=interstitialskip At campaign function in Detroit on Monday, Barack Obama campaign volunteers apparently tried to hide two Hijab-clad Muslim women-Shimaa Abdelfadeel and Hebba Aref-from camera view by denying them seats near the Senator.
“I was coming to support him, and I felt like I was discriminated against by the very person who was supposed to be bringing this change, who I could really relate to,” said Hebba Aref, according to Politico. It has since been revealed by columnist, Debbie Schlussel, that both women have connections to Islamic extremist activities. Regarding Hebba Aref, Schlussel writes: Hebba Aref, was an official of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), in charge of proselytizing. The Chicago Tribune identified the MSA as part of the American manifestation of the Sunni terrorist group, Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimeen--The Muslim Brotherhood. Aref served on the executive board of the University of Michigan-Dearborn's MSA, which demanded and obtained tax-funded Muslim foot baths at that university, a story I broke on this site last year. Also, two Muslim students at U-M Dearborn, Lola Elzein and Mohammed Fouad Abdallah, sent me violent rape and death threats.Schlussel also reported the following information on Shimaa Abdelfadeel: Shimaa Abdelfadeel, the other woman allegedly excluded by the Obama campaign, was chair of SAFE, a University of Michigan-Ann Arbor group that hosted the 2002 Divestment Conference against Israel at which "Annihilate the Jews!" was chanted and Islamic Jihad founder Sami Al-Arian was keynote speaker. She's the author of vehement anti-Israel vitriol and propaganda.Obama has personally offered his apologies to the women for his volunteers' attempt to hide them from camera view. "I reached out to Ms. Aref and Ms. Abdelfadeel this afternoon," Obama said in a statement. "I spoke with Ms. Abdelfadeel, and expressed my deepest apologies for the incident that occurred with volunteers at the event in Detroit." Obama said the volunteers' actions were "unacceptable and in no way reflect any policy of my campaign." The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)-who has been listed by the Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism funding trial-has applauded and accepted Obama's apology. "We welcome the campaign's apology and urge candidates of all parties not to give in to pressure from the vocal minority," said CAIR Director, Corey Saylor, according to Al-Jazeera. Al-Jazeera also reports that the women have also accepted Obama's apology and quoted them as stating, "the infringement on our rights occurred and has been addressed; now we are ready to move forward." It appears that Obama has now sufficiently kissed and made up to the Islamic extremist community in America. ------ ref:http://www.debbieschlussel.com/archives/2008/06/muslim_grievanc.html http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN1941749220080620 http://www.camera.org/index.asp?x_context=7&x_issue=11&x_article=1496 http://english.aljazeera.net/news/americas/2008/06/200862015108516100.html http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11168.html If the 2008 presidential race has shown me anything, it has sadly shown me this. Many Americans still care more about the color of a person's skin than the content of a person's character.
Although the mainstream media has done it's part to push Sen. Barack Obama's calls for a unity that crosses race, economics and party lines, the fact remains that Obama has does nothing of the sort. Obama is still the most far left Senator in the United States Senate. His social stances lean somewhere left of Sen. Barbara Boxer as he promotes a version of socialized economics and government services. Obama also chose to attend and defend a church for twenty years that is hell-bent on setting back race relations by 50 years and preaching a doctrine of hate in lieu of the the biblical teachings to love your neighbor and know that all are equal in the eyes of the Lord. Obama eventually stopped defending and attending such a "church", but only after poll numbers demanded that he do so. During Obama's campaign he has not hesitated to throw anyone under the bus that threatens his shot at the prize, including his own place of worship. His loyalty to any one group, is always subject to "change." Although the media will lead you to believe that all African-American churches are exactly like Trinity and that African Americans in general subscribe to Obama's far-left beliefs, it is simply not true. However when I see African American leaders-who are known for following biblical or conservative principals-start signing Obama's praises, I'm sometimes left disappointed and confused about their priorities in life. Black conservative talk show host Armstrong Williams has stated that he has never voted for a Democrat for president but that his vote could change this year with Barack Obama as the Democratic Party's nominee. "I don't necessarily like his policies; I don't like much that he advocates, but for the first time in my life, history thrusts me to really seriously think about it," Williams said. Don't like his policies? Than what do you like about Sen. Obama, Mr. Williams? Bishop T.D. Jakes is founder and senior pastor of The Potter's House of Dallas, Texas, a multiracial, nondenominational church with more than 50 outreach ministries. In a recent article, Jakes said watching Obama gave him "visible goosebumps." He called Barack Obama's clinching of the Democratic nomination "not just a victory for African Americans" but a "victory for democracy." As a Christian shepherd, what is it about Obama that gives you goosebumps, Mr. Jakes? Does it have anything to with his strong opposition against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act or is it maybe the fact that Obama advocates a complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act? While I'm proud to live in a nation that where a person of any color can become our leader, skin color should never overshadow our principles. When it comes time to vote in November all Americans-black, white, brown or somewhere in between-need to ask themselves one question: What is it that matters most to me? -------- http://www.onenewsnow.com/Business/Default.aspx?id=139064, http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/04/jakes/ It is scary to think of the possibility of a foreign and often hostile Islamic government forming schools in America to educate our children. Not only has such a foreign entity been allowed to develop such schools, but our own government has shown it will do very little when it chooses to promote murder by our own children.
An recent investigation of the Islamic Saudi Academy-funded by the Saudi government- has revealed disturbing teachings. For example the textbooks contain passages encouraging readers to blame the Jews for "discord" and says it is sometimes permissible to kill non-Muslims. A passage in a 12th-grade Koranic interpretation textbook states that it is permissible for a Muslim to kill those who have left the faith, an adulterer or someone who has murdered a Muslim intentionally. The school operates two campuses in Northern Virginia and has been given the green light to continue operations even though it has failed to live up its previous promise to "revise the textbooks by the 2008 school year." State Department spokesman Rob McInturff said,"We don't plan to take additional action apart from the discussions that have been going on with the Saudi government." The school's 1999 valedictorian, Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, was indicted in 2005 for providing material support to terrorists. In 2002, graduates Mohammed Osman Idris and Mohammed El-Yacubi were denied entry to Israel over concerns of ties to a potential suicide bombing. They were also convicted and sentenced to 30 in prison for plotting to assassinate President Bush. How are supposed to fight terrorism, when we allow the creation of terrorist in own backyards? --------- ref:http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jun/13/state-allows-operation-of-islamic-school/?page=1 Those of us have seen the potential danger of a nuclear Iran to Israel and America have been called "neocon warmongers" and worse. However according to the recent words of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the "true" worst may be finally knocking at our door. "In the past two-three years, they employed all their might, resorted to propaganda ... and sanctions. If the enemy thinks they can break the Iranian nation with pressure, they are wrong ... With God's help, today we have achieved victory and the enemies cannot do a damned thing," Ahmadinejad said in a speech broadcast live on state television on Wednesday. Ahmadinejad also gave his farewells to outgoing U.S. President, George W. Bush. "This wicked man desires to harm the Iranian nation. (Bush) made plans, moved into Afghanistan and then Iraq, and announced that Iran was the third target," he said. "I tell him (Bush) ... your era has come to an end. With the grace of God, you won't be able to harm even one centimetre of the sacred land of Iran," he continued. Apparently Ahmadinejad is looking forward to a new American president. I wonder which candidate is giving him so much "hope" for "change?" I'm completely puzzled. --------- http://www.albawaba.com/en/countries/Iran/229261, http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSDAH12460520080611?rpc=401&&pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0, http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5imJD48Wqf_0B0BarRuoE4WxnVUaA I'm an evangelical Christian who also happens to be a Southern Baptist. Although I in no way speak for my denomination, apparently I'm not alone when it comes to my reluctant embrace of Sen. John McCain.Quotes from this week's gathering of the Southern Baptist Convention show that I'm very much in like-company. Dan Yoder, the pastor of a Southern Baptist Church in Springfield, Tennessee, said, "I'm going to have to hold my nose while I vote for McCain ... but Obama's a die-hard socialist." "I think most Southern Baptists will support McCain though I know there are some issues with McCain among more conservative evangelicals," outgoing SBC president Frank Page told Reuters. "I think most Baptists would want him to speak out more on evangelical issues than what he has but we are cautiously accepting him," said John Mann, a pastor from Springtown, Texas, west of Fort Worth. McCain does not have a great track record with some well-known evangelical leaders that are well respected by many members of the SBC congregation. McCain recently renounced the endorsement he sought from Rev. John Haggee in San Antonio after the liberal media went on a shameless and inaccurate attack on the man's character and his message. During the primary, Dr. James Dobson repeatedly warned that he would sit out the election and simply not vote if John McCain became the presidential nominee. "I am convinced Sen. McCain is not a conservative and, in fact, has gone out of his way to stick his thumb in the eyes of those who are," Dobson once said. Not to help, reports recently surfaced that McCain refused an invitation to meet with the Reverend Billy Graham. It sent McCain staffers running to deny the rumor and insist they've been working behind the scenes to set up such a meeting with the evangelist. When you combine these events with McCain's soft stance on some issues that are deemed highly important to conservatives, SBC members are not ecstatic about supporting McCain. Their commitment is timid at best. "It's basically a choice between a liberal and an ultra-liberal," Jodie Sanders, a Southern Baptist church-goer from Fairfield, Texas, said. The primary force behind the decision of some members to vote for Sen. John McCain appears to be the widespread desire to stop Sen. Barack Hussein Obama. When considering the twisted gospel stumped at Obama's former "church" of twenty years and his stances that fall somewhere left of Sen.Barbara Boxer on all social issues-even McCain comes out smelling like a rose. The SBC is the largest protestant evangelical church organization in the U.S.A. with 16 million-strong. Evangelicals make up at least one out of four votes for the Republican party. Ironically, McCain also attends a Southern Baptist Convention affiliated church in Arizona. It may be time for Sen. McCain to start listening to his Sunday sermon. Otherwise many of his fellow congregates may decide to pull a "James Dobson" and simply stay home. -------------- http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN0935340120080610, http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=55665, http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN1033434120080610?pageNumber=2&virtualBrandChannel=10112,http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN0935340120080610 http://www.charlotte.com/local/story/662135.html, http://www.johnmccain.com/images/issues/ns/0604_news.jpg It's time for another edition of On The wRite Side.Org's Liberal Video Cinema.
