Wed, 23 Jul 2008 01:21:00 +0200 Gemei gets saucy with the touchscreen X780 PMP It was inevitable. We just knew Gemei couldn't hold its own forever, and now it seems the resistance to copying other interfaces has finally failed. The all-too-familiar X780 comes equipped with a 3-inch 400 x 280 resolution display, 4GB of internal memory, a miniSD expansion slot, FM tuner, built-in microphone, TV output and an unspecified emulator for gaming it up. As expected, this thing can handle just about every format known to man including WMA, APE, FLAC, MP3, WAV, ASF, MPEG, AVI, FLV, VOD, PNG, JPG, etc. No one's talking about pricing just yet, but we have a feeling it'll be somewhere between cheap and really cheap. (Via Engadget.) Sun, 20 Jul 2008 16:27:00 +0200 Electro Box's miShake PMP enjoys being agitated It's not that Electro Box's miShake PMP looks especially like anything else we've seen, but it sure takes an awful lot of cues from, shall we say, more popular brands. We won't even bother explaining the miShake name, but what is important to note is the 2.4-inch touchscreen, 'explosive external loudspeaker,' 4GB of internal memory, miniSD expansion slot and support for a multitude of audio / video file formats. Oh, and don't even bother fiddling through that questionable user interface to change tracks -- just give it a good jerk (you know, like Sony's Shake control) to hear the next jam begin abruptly. So much merriment for just £119.95 ($240). (Via Engadget.) Sun, 20 Jul 2008 16:27:00 +0200 Disney and Apple, Inc. Join Forces in New “Mickey iPhone” Apple and Disney seem to be closer than we think in China, coming together for a major release in the People’ Republic. It’s not the most fully featured gadget Apple has made but the Mickey-inspired design and more Apple logos thrown here and there more than on any other device we’ve seen should make this a very tempting product for both Apple and Disney fans. Unfortunately, the source doesn’t mention a name or a link to a product page, but I’m pretty sure these details will surface very soon as they usually do with electronic products destined to make history. Thu, 17 Jul 2008 16:29:00 +0200 Emgeton MINI One Gives Meizu a Taste of Its Own Medicine Tired of waiting for Meizu to release their iPhone clone? Emgeton has just the product for you. It’s inspired by iPhone but really it’s a Meizu M8, hardware + software, powered by a powerful ARM11 CPU and running either Windows CE 6.0 or Windows Mobile 6.0 Pro (not very clear at the moment). Notable is the 3.2-inch 720 x 480 VGA TOUCH screen. yes, this baby also plays 30fps movie files and has a 3 megapixel camera to give the fear of God to the iPhone-loving community on Q3.Other specs include Bluetooth and TV out. Thu, 17 Jul 2008 16:29:00 +0200 Ainol introduces display-dominated V3000 PMP Some serious time has passed since Ainol rolled out its abominable V1000, and while we reckon the V2000 was lost somewhere in the mix, the V3000 is pretty enough to note -- if but for a moment. Details are pretty slim on this one, but we are told that the widescreen unit packs an expansive 4.3-inch LTPS display with an 800 x 480 native resolution. Seriously though, you aren't about to fly to China to claim one of these as your own, so just be satisfied with seeing Spidey behind all sorts of weirdly applied reflections. (Via Engadget.) Wed, 16 Jul 2008 16:15:00 +0200 Teclast M26 gets reviewed -- behold its lameness in video form ![]() Teclast's budget-priced touchscreen-based M26 PMP seemed interesting enough at first, but as more and more details about it trickled out, we quickly got disenchanted by the player. Now, MP4 Nation has confirmed most of our suspicions with a video review of the device. While the reviewer is quick to point out that many of the players problems could be due to its pre-release firmware, it's pretty clear that the player's resistive touchscreen leaves a lot to be desired, with scrolling less than responsive and some tasks requiring numerous taps before the player gets the hint. That's to say nothing of the device's interface lag, the inexplicable button on the front of the player that does nothing but blink annoyingly whenever the touchscreen is in use, or such 'features' as a calendar that simply shows you the date. Head on past the break to see for yourself. Continue reading Teclast M26 gets reviewed -- behold its lameness in video form (Via Engadget.) Wed, 16 Jul 2008 16:14:00 +0200
AllPMP.org have published a review of the KNC M700 digital player. The design of KNC M-700 is inspired by Nokia music phone. It is black and orange in color, which is smart and fashionable. The material is Aluminium. The whole layout is just very logical. Control buttons are on the left and right hand sides while other functional buttons and plots are on the top. It is just so easy and simple to use. (Via Portable Media Player Reviews.) Wed, 16 Jul 2008 16:14:00 +0200 TrekStor i.Beat Move PMP Announced in Three Sizes Remember the iBeat Blaxx that elicited accusations of racial insensitivity from tech bloggers? The manufacturer, TrekStor, is back with a legitimate MP4 player with MP4 and AVI support. The i.Beat Move is nothing special, though it’s curiously available in 3 sizes and form factor resemble a phone or an MP3 player more than a device primarily used for video playback. Screen size is 3.8 cm for the small, which I assume is below 2 inches, and no further information is provided, especially if landscape viewing is supported. Medium and Large sizes have screen sizes of 4.6cm and 5.1cm respectively. i.Beat Movie specs:

Mon, 14 Jul 2008 18:14:00 +0200 Creative gets really official with ZEN X-Fi as it appears in the wild ![]() Quite a bit went down before Creative decided to really fess up about its ZEN X-Fi (at least in the US), but if you've managed to resist the urge to believe this thing was real, here's the documentation you've been yearning for. The ZEN X-Fi (8GB; $149.99) and ZEN X-Fi with Wireless (16GB; $199.99 / 32GB; $299.99) are both being made official today, and while the latter is available now from an array of reputable e-tailers, the WiFi-less iteration won't hit stores until 'later this month.' You can also expect a ZEN X-Fi docking speaker station to emerge sometime this summer for $49.99. (Via Engadget.) Mon, 14 Jul 2008 18:13:00 +0200
AllPMP.org have published a review of the Ramos V85 portable media player. (Via Portable Media Player Reviews.) Mon, 14 Jul 2008 18:13:00 +0200 RAmos iShine Q18 vs iRiver E100 The Q18 is the new kid on the block while this is face-off number 2 for the E100 (see face-off number one). The RAmos’s MUMU iShine Q18 PMP is undeniably a lookalike of the iRiver E100. Both are cute boxy players, the E100 perhaps having the more interesting dial pad up against the iShine’s Chocolatey touch-sensitive keys. Both have 2.4 inches of viewing real estate with the E100 maxing at 4GB of storage on top of the Q18’s 2GB. The bigger difference, besides the price (E100 is twice as pricey as the $58 iShine Q18, is in both players’ media file support. E100 - MPEG-4, WMV9 and XVID (30fps) and FLAC, MP3, WMA (DRM and non-DRM), ASF and OGG iShine Q18 - MP4, RMVB, MP3, WMA As you can see, we don’t even know if the Q18 can play video at 30fps and the listed MP4 support seem iffy at best. This is too sad since the Q18 UI seem workable enough somehow RAmos has managed to put in support for landscape viewing. Maybe another look at the two players together would help one pick a side… (Via PMP Today.) Mon, 14 Jul 2008 18:13:00 +0200 EZIO MEGA4 (Via Just Another Mobile Phone Blog.) AOC recently announced the new V9, which is claimed with 90 hours of long battery life. The AOC V9 is powered by Sigmatel’s latest STMP3710 solution. The solution features an ARM926 32-bit CPU, running at 206Mhz with 99dB SNR. As usual, it plays WMA, MP3, AAC, and WAV audio. Detailed specification and price are still unknown. By the way, it should be tagged with affordable low price! (Via The MP3 Players.) Mon, 30 Jun 2008 17:36:00 +0200 Hello there...This is Mavilonus.
I'm going to NY for a few days....Vacations... Please, stay tuned. I will return on July 12th. Then, I will upload more and more news, reviews, pictures, rumors more news, etc... Bye....See you! Mavilonus Mon, 30 Jun 2008 16:28:00 +0200 Creative unveils their newest PMP, the Zen X-Fi, featuring what else but X-Fi, which is the best MP3-playing you could possibly get in the market. It’s no touch-screen but it’s WiFi-enabled. Most interesting is the numeric keypad, which can be used for ‘Tchatter’ over Yahoo Messenger, GTalk or MSN. So what can users expect from X-Fi? Basically, there are two settings: X-Fi Crystalizer and X-Fi Expand. Crystalizer restores details that may have been lost during the compression while Expand moves sound from the ear to somewhere in front of you simulating the real experience in listening to music. Crystalizer makes for richer sound quality (which I prefer, actually) while Expand is more of a concert-like experience. With this player, Creative also launches its new software ‘Centrale.’ With Centrale, everything from video, audio and photos are supported. It will also allow users to rip DVDs and creative a server for file sharing. Electronista thinks this is Creative’s move againts Apple’ iTunes. Let’s see Apple copy that. Also, from what EpiZENter found out, there might be Zen X-Fis without WiFi because the user guide specifically mentions that ‘This section applies to ZEN X-Fi players with wireless LAN features.’ Other features include 2.5-inch screen, FM tuner, speakers, microSD slot. Unfortunately no price yet or date of availability, though speculation from other sources say official launch could be days away. (Via PMP Today.) Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:59:00 +0200

Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:59:00 +0200 Newsmy RV30 DAP is Sexy w/ Phone Call Recording Newman has a treat for us this summer. It’s a simple MP3 player (no fancy video-playing codec or camera added) in a sophisticated form factor (103 × 34 × 13mm; weighs 28g). Look to the side of the RV30, it’s all shiny buttons, perfectly raised for the ultimate tactile goodness. For good measure, there’s a small screen for navigation. Hopefully, it also support other languages than Mandarin. It plays MP3 and WMA, powered by 2 AAA batteries! There are 3 built-in speakers, which record high-quality audio and if you connect this to your phone, it can record telephone conversations as well. Still no idea how they do that, though. It’s available in 1GB and red and silver colors for 499 yuan ($73). (Via PMP Today.) Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:59:00 +0200 Pure One Mini compact DAB digital radio In the world of DAB radios, Pure is perhaps the best known manufacturer. The company has a variety of high-end digital radio models, but is now aiming for the entry-level customer with the Pure One Mini; just 130 x 135 x 60mm, the Mini has a mono speaker, 16 x 2 mono display to show track titles and can be powered either via the mains or by a rechargeable battery pack.
In fact, with the Pure ChargePAK you can have up to 20hrs of standalone music. The Mini has the usual headphone socket, but also features an input socket so you can route your iPod (or other generic PMP, naturally) through the speaker. A mini-USB socket lets you update the firmware. The Pure One Mini DAB radio is available in the UK now, priced at £40. Color choices are black, white and pink. (Via SlashGear.) Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:58:00 +0200 ![]() Samsung Korea has announced its YP-P2 with T-DMB support for watching Digital TV on the go. Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:58:00 +0200 We’ve noticed this gaming PMP before for its nifty control buttons and comfy form factor Now it’s available in Europe under the Westrend brand as the Westrend Racer. Still plays Flash games, music and supports e-Book TXT. Oh, this guy is the winner of 2008 Reddot design. (Via PMP Today.) Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:57:00 +0200 iriver's cute little Lplayer gets reviewed iriver's Lplayer, which we just got done handling ourselves, made it over to the review crew at PC Magazine. As expected, both design and interface were smiled upon, and critics also felt the price was fair. Upon using the admittedly wee device, they seemed to have problems getting the click buttons to respond like they wanted, but aside from that, hardly anything negative was said. The broad codec support was praised, the built-in equalizer worked as advertised and the FM tuner / voice recorder were welcome extras. All in all, it was seen as a worthy rival to the iPod nano, and if you're the type that prefers something different in the pocket, this puppy just might be the ticket. (Via Engadget.) Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:57:00 +0200 Ever seen a square PMP? Ever expected one to be made? Me neither, but Aigo begs to differ as it introduces the square-ish Patriot E819 MP5 player. The 2.8-inch LTPS screen is supposed to have 4:4 aspect ratio, though h0nest to God it looks to me like 4:4. It’s one of the more heavy flash PMPs of its size weighing almost a hundred grams with 77 × 66 × 14mm form factor. Features USB 2.0, FM tuner, microSD, TXT, photo viewing With MP3 recording. Video: RM, RMVB, DAT, AVI (DivX / XviD), MPG, MPEG, FLV Audio: MP3 (MPEG1.0 Layer3), WMA, APE, FLAC For the privilege of owning a truly unique piece of gadget, 699 yuan ($102) for the 4GB version is more than fair. Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:57:00 +0200 Creative Updates MuVo T200 Color ![]() Creative decides to take a stab at Apple with its new 4GB MuVo T200 digital audio player by releasing it in white. The price will remain the same as the black color version, along with the specifications, so the only changes would be the color. Other than that, you should be aware that it comes with a boost function, an integrated FM tuner and a built-in microphone. It will be available before June is over for €40 a pop. (Via UberGizmo, the Gadgets News Blog.) Sat, 21 Jun 2008 20:51:00 +0200 Onda VX777+ PMP video review & comparison Onda’s VX777+ PMP is, quite obviously, designed to resemble the iPod Touch. That’s clear, but then plenty of manufacturers give a nod to Apple when it comes to the drawing board; more important, then, is what functionality it brings to the table. Pride of place at the top of the spec list is a 3-inch 400 x 240 touchscreen, notable for being capacitive (i.e. like that of the iPod Touch) rather then resistive (like most cheap copies); there’s also TV Out, a choice of capacity ranging from 2GB to 8GB, and an SD slot happy with cards up to 32GB in size.
Check out the video review & comparison of the VX777+ after the cut File support includes RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV, DAT, ASF, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MPG, MP3, WMA, WMA/VBR, APE and FLAC, plus there’s an FM radio and voice recorder. Games and an e-book reader are also included, and the VX777+ is happy with lossless audio and high-def video. That might not be such a big deal on the PMP’s display, but you’ll be glad of the quality if you pipe it out to your big-screen TV. What it doesn’t have is WiFi, which could be a deal breaker for those who want to recreate the iPod Touch experience at a budget price. MP4 Global, who are taking pre-orders for the 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models (priced at $89, $99 and $109 respectively), shot this video of the VX777+’s features as well as a side-by-side comparison of it and its Onda VX767, VX757 and VX747 predecessors. It’ll ship on June 23rd. (Via SlashGear.) |
