 EA Sports Active is released today exclusively for the Nintendo Wii Console. Designed in collaboration with fitness experts (video), the EA Sports Active: Personal Trainer package includes the software, a Leg Strap (video) and a Resistance Band (video). EA Sports Active offers a wide range of exercises & sports activities that target both upper body and lower body, as well as providing a cardiovascular workout (video). The Personal Trainer software (video) tracks your body movements via the hand-held Wii Remote with the Nunchuk tucked into the Leg Strap. The Wii Balance Board is not required, but there are additional features designed especially for use with the Board (video). You can exercise alone, with the Virtual Trainer providing instruction, motivation and encouragement; or workout with friends by using additional Accessory Packs   Released today, the new Guitar Hero: World Tour Band comes complete with game disc, microphone, wireless guitar controller and a wireless drum kit. Competing with Rock Band, this is the first in the Guitar Hero series to feature additional accessories along with an upgraded, touch-sensitive guitar (video). The high-performance microphone plugs into a USB port, and the wireless drum kit (video) features five velocity-sensing drum pads (including high-hat and cymbal) mounted on a collapsible stand, with a non-slip foot pedal and authentic wood drum sticks. Guitar Hero: World Tour Band allows you to customize your own Rock Star or choose from several famous in-game music artists. There's a Solo Career mode, up to 4 player Band modes, and you can rock out online in the Battle of the Bands. Available for PlayStation 3, XBOX 360 & Nintendo Wii consoles, Guitar Hero: World Tour Band has 85 music tracks to master and features a Music Studio (video) where you can compose, record and edit your own musical creations   Ensemble Studios have announced that the much-anticipated HALO WARS will finally be released in February 2009. The real-time strategy prequel has been in development exclusively for the XBOX 360 Console. Ensemble have also revealed details of a HALO WARS: Limited Collectors Edition, featuring: game disc, HALO WARS: Genesis graphic novel, six Leader Cards, a UNSC Spirit of Fire patch, and early access to the Mythic Map Pack from Bungie, which includes three new multiplayer maps for HALO 3 (Right-click & “Save Target As...” to Download)   A new model of Nintendo's DS (Dual Screen) was announced today by company President: Satoru Iwata, at the Nintendo Conference in Tokyo. The new Nintendo DSi console is 12% thinner than the Nintendo DS Lite, with bigger and brighter 3.25" screens, two built-in cameras, enhanced speakers, and a slot for SD memory cards. While the DSi will play Nintendo DS games, the Game Boy Advance (GBA) cartridge slot from previous DS models has been removed. The new Nintendo DSi also features audio applications that allow you to record and play with sound and music, and photo-editing software for pictures captured by the inwards and outwards facing cameras. Motion-detecting via the cameras will be used to control future DSi games. Nintendo DSi consoles will also offer improved connectivity for browsing the Internet and downloading games and applications. Nintendo DSi is due early 2009

For the second time this year, Microsoft has cut the prices of their XBOX 360 Consoles. The XBOX 360 Arcade Console is now only £129.99 and the new upgraded 60GB XBOX 360 Premium is only £169.99 (making them both cheaper than the Nintendo Wii). The 120GB XBOX 360 Elite Console is now £229.99 (£70 cheaper than the new 80GB PlayStation 3)   Sony's PlayStation 3 Console already offers state-of-the-art games and high-definition movies on Blu-ray Disc, but from today you can also watch, pause and record digital television with Play TV. The 80GB model of the PlayStation 3 Console is launched in Europe today. With double the storage space on its hard-drive, and packaged with the also recently released DualShock 3 controller, the new PlayStation 3 80GB Console retains a retail price of £299.99. The PlayStation 3 40GB Console with SIXAXIS controller will now be discontinued   With the new PlayStation 3 80GB launching in Europe tomorrow, Sony have also just announced a new model of the PlayStation Portable at the Leipzig Game Convention. Due for release this October, the Sony PSP 3000 has the same dimensions as the Sony PSP Slim & Lite, with a built-in microphone and a higher-definition, anti-reflective screen   Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet promises a world of infinite possibilities, and is one of the most eagerly anticipated titles for the PlayStation 3 this year... The demo features one of the early levels in the game: a TIE Fighter Construction Facility, under siege by a Jedi General named Rahm Kota. Darth Vader's Apprentice has been sent to kill the Jedi General, and has been told that, in order to remain a secret, he is to leave no witnesses alive. Also included in the demo is a Force Grip tutorial   Microsoft have launched a new XBOX 360 console, upgrading the Premium package with a 60GB hard-drive. With the latest hardware inside, this system runs a lot quieter and cooler than the original 20GB consoles. The new XBOX 360 Premium Console package includes a wireless controller, ethernet & HD AV cables, HDMI output, Xbox Live membership and Xbox Live headset. Three times the storage space, but the price stays the same at £199.99   Eidos Interactive today revealed gymnast Alison Carroll as the new face (and body) of Lara Croft. Alison will portray the famous heroine for the next year with appearances promoting the latest video game Tomb Raider: Underworld for PC, XBOX 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PS2 & Nintendo DS, released November 2008. New details of Sony's virtual world community for the PlayStation 3 console have been added to the official PlayStation Asia site: includes screenshots and information about Avatars, Communication, your personal Home Space apartment, the Game Space, Home Theatre, and the heart of PlayStation Home: Home Square. Announced by Sony at the Game Developers Conference 2007, LittleBigPlanet for the Sony PlayStation 3 is a next-generation "platform" game. You play as Sackboy, competing or co-operating with up to 4 players on a single PS3 console or online. You can completely customize your Sackboy or Sackgirl, and the really innovative part is you can also customise or create the landscape and objects around you, designing your own levels which you can then share online. Sony's Press Conference today at E3 2008 revealed a new PlayStation 3 80GB Console, due later this year, which will include the wireless DualShock 3 controller. The briefing also featured demos of PS3 exclusives: LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2 and MAG: Massive Action Game, an online squad-based tactical shooter with battles involving up to 256 players! Other future PlayStation 3 exclusive previews included: the open-world superhero game inFamous, the off-road racing sequel MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, and the announcement of God of War III   E3 2008 kicked off on Monday (July 14) with Nintendo's announcement of a new Wii Console accessory, called Wii Motion Plus: an add-on for the Wii Remote that increases response, sensitivity and accuracy. Today, Nintendo revealed details of the next Wii Sports game: Wii Sports Resort, which includes the Wii Motion Plus controller add-on Another new accessory, a microphone for the Nintendo Wii, called Wii Speak, was also shown & will be packaged with a special edition of Animal Crossing: City Folk, due by the end of this year Wii Music, a party game which simulates the playing of various musical instruments, and Shaun White Snowboarding, which makes good use of the Nintendo Wii Balance Board, were also demo'ed   The latest project from Nintendo’s Entertainment Analysis and Development studio was demonstrated at E3 today. Managed by Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario and Zelda, the team behind Wii Sports and Wii Play are now nearing completion of a musical instrument simulator for the Nintendo Wii Console, called Wii Music. With the aim of making it easy for everyone to play, Wii Music transforms the Wii Remote & Nunchuk controllers into more than 60 different instruments, including: violin, drums, guitar, etc. Players strum, drum and play along while Wii Music translates these movements into music, which Nintendo says: "always sounds great"   The first trailer for EA's Mirror's Edge immediately generated massive interest in its innovative style of gameplay... Today, at E3 2008: Electronic Arts & DICE revealed the second Mirror's Edge trailer, showcasing new situations and combat in various locations. A unique first-person action adventure for PC, XBOX 360 & PlayStation 3: Mirror's Edge introduces Faith, a ‘runner’ on the wrong side of the law after her sister gets framed for murder. In this new gameplay trailer, we see Faith performing massive leaps and other acrobatic tricks as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in fast-paced chases and intense combat...   E3 2008: Microsoft's Press Conference today showcased demos of upcoming XBOX 360 exclusive sequels: Gears of War 2 and Fable 2, plus exclusive new party games: You’re in the Movies (with Xbox LIVE Vision Camera) and Lips (with two wireless, motion-sensitive disco microphones). The biggest announcement was of an incoming update to the Xbox LIVE dashboard. This "New Xbox Experience" gives you a cartoonish, Mii-style avatar, which you can customize. Xbox LIVE Avatars can get together and chat at LIVE Parties, and compete against each other on a new LIVE Primetime channel featuring multiplayer Game Shows, such as 1 vs 100...
