I was privileged this week to be invited to the British Red Cross Humanitarian Citizen Awards at the House of Commons. I was nominated and then short listed for the prize which was really humbling. I had never been to the House of Commons so to just get the chance to go inside was enough of an exciting prospect for me but then to be awarded as runner up was completely overwhelming.

It is a three tiered mentoring scheme which partners up a young person showing particular promise and ambition with a vocational dance student, in turn matched with a professional mentor. As adults unless we are good at something we tend not to do it which I think is a shame and I think is a big problem with art. Because people like to judge art and when someone tells you that a piece of art you have done is terrible you take it personally, not many people want to invest time in something just to get ripped apart.
