First off, I will tell everybody who listens to this to adjust the volume level at the 5:30 mark, because at this point is where my microphone goes out for some reason I still haven’t figured out yet. So, I apologize for the static and low volume on my end. Jasmine’s mic was fine, so she comes in clear as a bell, it was just mine with the malfunction. Anyway, on to the show. This is the last episode of “Driving the Lane” with Jasmine Phelps for this season, so we go down memory lane of the 2007-08 season, and discuss the high and low moments. Ms. Phelps also talks about being one of the leaders on next year’s team, what she feels the needs of the team are, exactly who she thinks can make an impact from the JV squad, a little word association, and more. Thanks for listening to the show here at www.switchpod.com.

After exacting revenge on Carteret in Round 1, the 14th seeded Raiders faced a monumental challenge in the number 3 seed Cardinal McCarrick Eagles, who were just a little upset that they were seeded behind New Brunswick(2) and Piscataway(1). Jaymee Tucker led the Raiders in her final high school game with 15 points, Samara Kennedy came to play for North Brunswick with 14 points, while Jasmine Malone finishes her junior year with 11.

This is the third meeting this season between the Raiders and Ramblers, with a spot in the second round of the GMC Tournament at stake. Each team has a win on the opposing home floor, but North Brunswick wants vengeance for a one point loss to Carteret, 43-42 on January 22nd. So, here was their chance, and North Brunswick cashes in with 4 players in double figures. Samara Kennedy scored 18 points, Jess Crouch put in 13, Jaymee Tucker added 12, and Jasmine Phelps dropped in 10 points.

It’s Senior Night at NBTHS, and a perfect time for the Lady Raiders to snap their 4-game skid. Their opponents: the 4-16 Monroe Falcons. On this night, a glimpse of the present and the future, as senior Jaymee Tucker leads North Brunswick with 19 points, and sophomore Jasmine Phelps puts in 14, as the Raiders look to climb back to the .500 mark before the GMC Tournament. Also, be sure and check out the post-game show, as my guests are seniors Michelle Marano and Christene Koye for the Lady Raiders.

This week is a little bit of an extended version of the show, as I touch a little bit on the upcoming GMC tournament, and just whom the North Brunswick Lady Raiders may wind up facing in a first round matchup. Afterwards, I continue my weekly conversation with Jasmine about which game does the team regret letting get away? Can North Brunswick emotionally recover from two years in a row of missing the state playoffs, after terrific starts? Jasmine also addresses playing the final two games of the regular season on their home floor, as well trying to get Jaymee Tucker to 1,000 career points before the end of the season. All of that, and then some, on an extended edition of Driving the Lane with Jasmine Phelps.

On the road in South Plainfield, the Raiders made their third attempt at making the state playoffs, while South Plainfield also needed a win to get in. Sophomore Jasmine Phelps lead the North Brunswick attack with 10 points.

It comes down to this: do or die for the Lady Raiders, as they get their fourth and final chance to make the NJ state playoffs for the first time since 1992. Yes, the arch rival New Brunswick Zebras come to NBTHS, looking to eliminate North Brunswick from the states. In a game that saw North Brunswick once again rally from a double digit hole, as they have done all season, seniors Jaymee Tucker scored 14 points and Jess Crouch had 11 to try and snap the Raiders 3-game losing streak.

On the show this week, I talk with Jasmine about the big game upcoming against arch rival New Brunswick, and her message to the parents and fans on why they have a chance against the 12-2 Zebras, which also tie into the chances of making the state playoffs. We also get into the emotional state of the team in the midst of a 3-game losing streak, what the difference was in their loss to South Plainfield, and who is the best candidate to carry the team to victory? All of that, and more on this third edition of Driving the Lane.

Due to some serious laptop issues, I was only able to salvage a small bit of audio from my interview that I did with Raiders guard Samara Kennedy, so I apologize, but we were able to touch on a few subjects, such as her transition from Bishop Ahr, her thoughts on the inconsistent play of the team this season, exactly what happened in that so-called flagrant foul against Colonia and Sasha Hall in the most recent game on January 24th, and some other topics.

In the first of four chances to make the state playoffs, North Brunswick(6-4) takes on the Carteret Ramblers(3-9). Only, someone forgot to tell the Ramblers and Alicia Banz that they were supposed to be the stepping stones for the Raiders playoff run. It came down to the final 12 seconds, after North Brunswick yet again rallied from a 15-point deficit, and trailed, 43-42.

If you want the short version of this "win and they are in" matchup, then here it is. North Brunswick takes their second shot at getting into the New Jersey state playoffs, but a major obstacle stood in their way in the form of Colonia, and Sasha Hall in a 58-45 loss. Tylere Simpson had 14 points, Jaymee Tucker and Jasmine Phelps had 10 each for North Brunswick, whose quest for the playoffs continue.

In this rematch against the 8-6 Colonia Patriots, the 6-5 North Brunswick Raiders get a second chance to make the New Jersey state playoffs, after their upset loss to Carteret. In the second quarter, the game was tied at 17, when Raiders guard Samara Kennedy was called for a flagrant foul, and from that point on, Colonia would not look back, as they ran off 13 straight points on their way to the playoffs.

In our second installment, Jasmine talks about what happened in the upset 43-42 loss to Carteret on January 22nd. Ms. Phelps also discusses topics including being a starter again, facing some tough opponents in the next 3 games, some of the team inconsistencies, and a couple of insights on rival New Brunswick, all in episode #2.

As the case has been a good part of the season, the Raiders climbed out of a 15 point hole to fight Carteret tooth and nail, right up until the final seconds of the game, with strong efforts from Jaymee Tucker(14 points) and Tylere Simpson(10 points).

The situation was win and in for the North Brunswick Raiders, as they needed just one more win to make the New Jersey state playoffs. However, somebody should have told the 3-9 Carteret Rambers, as they had other plans, and made that perfectly clear in the 1st quarter of this game.

This is the first episode of "Driving the Lane", an information and interview segment, where in future shows, I will look to talk to a North Brunswick Raiders player about the happenings of the team. For the pilot, I wanted to pass along my plans for the show, as well as a few comments on the current state of the North Brunswick Lady Raiders.

Once again, the Raiders found themselves down by double digits, but mounted a second half comeback to get to within a point, before falling to the Tigers, 43-39.
