Have you seen a man with beautiful hands,
Strong and straight, and true?
I've seen some men with beautiful hands,
But only one or two.

Oh, don't you see the Man with beautiful hands,
Strong and straight, and true?
But wait, what is that I see? A scar?
Yes, there's one, there's two.

A scar in each hand for eternity,
He allowed it put there by you and by me,
For He gave Himself so unselfishly,
By His Love, His Love Unconditionally.

His beautiful hands are scarred by Love,
His Love for all since before earth began,
He came, you see, to die for all,
Those who believe may live within His Beautiful Hands.

He says, "Behold, I have graven thee within the palms of my hands."
Such Beautiful, Beautiful Hands.
The Beautiful Hands of my Savior,
My name is written within the palms of His Beautiful Hands.

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.

All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.

I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.

God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"

Years ago, I asked God to give me a spouse, “You don’t own because you didn’t ask”, God said. Not only I asked for a spouse, but also explained what kind of spouse I wanted. I want a nice, tender, forgiving, passionate, honest, peaceful, generous, pleasant, warm, intelligent, humorous, attentive, compassionate, and truthful spouse. I even mentioned the physical characteristics I dreamed about. As time went by I added the required list of my wanted spouse.

One night, in my prayer, God talked to my heart, “My servant, I cannot give what you want”. I asked, “Why God?” God said, “Because I am God and I am fair. God is the truth and all I do are true and right”. I asked, “God, I don’t understand why I cannot have what I ask from you?” God answered, “I will explain. It’s not fair and right for me to fulfill your demand, because I can not give something that is not your own self. It’s not fair to give someone who is full of love to you sometimes you are still hostile, or to give you someone forgiving, however you still hide revenge, someone sensitive, however you are very insensitive…..”

God then said to me, “It’s better for Me to give you someone who I know could grow to have all qualities you are searching rather than to make you waste your time to find someone who already have the qualities you want. Your spouse would be bone and flash from tour flesh and you will see yourself in her/him and both you will be one. Marriage is like a school. It is a life long education. It is where you and your partner make adjustment and aim not merely to please each other, but to be better human beings and to make a solid teamwork.

I don’t give you a perfect partner, because you are not perfect either. I give you a partner with whom you would grow with!

Call Me Crazy, But She Still Makes My Heart Go Pumpity-Pump

After ten years of marriage, I’m still crazy for this woman.

Being with her is my little piece of heaven on earth.

Here’s my proof: So far, I’ve had 508 romantic dates with my wife. (Yes, my wife. What were you thinking? She’s my ex-girlfriend, right?) That’s once per week for almost 10 beautiful years.

And I’ve loved every single one of them.

Our date night is sacred.

Unless it’s an invitation from the President of the Republic, I say no to all invitations and meetings. Our marriage is what it is today because of those precious 508 dates.

Call me corny. Call me deluded. Call me in denial.

But I really love being with her.

By the way, did you know my wife has magical powers?

When I’m with her, she drains my stress away. When I’m going through a rough time, all I have to do is share my problems to her, and instantly, I feel so much better. With her, I’m at home. And I rest.

I believe couples need to connect with each other in a deep way, or they will drift apart and look for attachments elsewhere.

Aside from our weekly dates, I grab special times I call “spontaneous moments of connection”.

Spontaneous Moments Of Connection

Yesterday afternoon, I came home ready to dive into my work. The usual stuff I do: articles to write, talks to prepare, meetings to plan…

But when I came home, I saw this lovely woman sitting on the couch all by herself.

I thought to myself, “Work can wait,” and I grabbed this opportunity to sit beside the greatest girl on the galaxy. It wasn’t planned. But we were able to talk and connect our hearts. Even just for a few minutes.

Life offers us these fantastic times of bonding. I’ve learned not to miss them: Being stuck in traffic with her. Or waiting for the dentist. Or lining up in the grocery. These times don’t have to be boring if you hold hands and talk.

" If someone feels that that they had never made a mistake in their life,
then it means they had never tried a new thing in their life... "

Rules for being human

1. Your will receive a body. You may like it, or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full time informal school called life. Each day in this school you have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think they are irrelevant and stupid.

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately "works".

4. A lesson is repeated until learned... A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go to the next lesson. Periodically, the lesson will be re- presented to see if you still remember it.

5. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there ar e lessons to be learnt. If no lessons is being presented, it is likely that you are no longer alive.

6. "There" is no better than "here". When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply acquire another "there". That will again look better than "here".

7. Others are simply mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you make of them is up to you; the choice is yours.

9. Your answers lie inside you. The answers to life's questions lie inside you. All you have to do is look, listen and trust.

10. You will forget all this. That fact is itself a lesson.

One thing can always cheer me
When I'm feeling sad and low
When I tired of daily trials
That I have to undergo,
When those who should
Seem closest, seem like
People I don't know,
One thing can always cheer me
I know that God is near me.

One thing can always cheer me
When I do not understand
How pain and sadness
In our lives
Can get so out of hand,
When the best of human efforts
Doesn't meet the days demands,
One thing can always cheer me
I know that God is always near me.

One thing can always cheer me
More than anything I've known
And show me I will never
Have to struggle on my own
For no matter what might happen
I will never be alone
The thing that will always cheer me
Is just knowing God is near me.

Our lives are in God's loving
Hands, in everything we do
He is with us constantly,
He always sees us through.
And if our faith is strong enough
We'll never walk alone,
For with His great and perfect love
He takes care of His own.

A man walking along a California beach was deep in prayer when all of a sudden he said aloud, "Lord grant me one wish". The sky clouded and a booming voice said, "Because you have tried to be faithful I will grant you one wish." The man said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over anytime I want to."

The Lord answered, "Your request is very materialistic. Think of the logistics of that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time to think of another wish, a wish you think would honor and glorify me".

The man thought for a long time and finally said, "Lord, I wish that I could understand women. I want to know what they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment, why they cry, what they mean when they say 'nothing', and how I can make a woman truly happy?"

After a few minutes God said, "How many lanes do you want on that bridge??"

Affirmation for Today

Ralph Waldo Emerson has accurately said, "One of the illusions of life is that the present hour is not the critical, decisive hour. Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year."

*********

Today is an important day. That problem you solve, that decision you make, that time you enjoy can shape your whole life. The way you and I approach today, and each day, is crucial. Our lives are built by a series of days like today.

*********

I discovered an affirmation that can help in living each day fully:

Today I will live through the next 24 hours and not try to tackle all of life's problems at once.

Today I will improve myself, body, mind and spirit.

Today I will refuse to spend time worrying about what might happen if...

Today I will not imagine what I would do if things were different. They are not different. I will do my best with what material I have.

Today I will find the grace to let go of resentments of others and self-condemnation over past mistakes.

Today I will not try to change, or improve, anybody but me.

Today I will act toward others as though this will be my last day on earth.

Today I will be unafraid. I will enjoy what is beautiful, and I will believe that as I give to the world, the world will give to me.

Whether these are the best of times or the worst of times, these are the only times we've got. Live each day fully and you will look back on a life that made a difference.

Mornings don't mean
getting up and working again;

It rather means:
God Loves you so much
to let you live and see another bless.

Have a blessed day!

A little girl became a big sister and continually wanted to spend time alone with the new baby.

The mother was uneasy to leave the youngster alone with the newborn but the youngster persisted. Finally the mom told the little girl she could go into the baby's room alone.

Standing outside the room, the mother was able to hear her youngster talking to the baby in the crib, "Tell me what God looks like, I am starting to forget."

One day, a man went to visit a church. He arrived early parked his car, and got out. Another car pulled up near him, and the driver told him, "I always park there. You took my place!"

The visitor went inside for Sunday School, found an empty seat, and sat down. A young lady from the church approached him and stated, That's my seat! You took my place!"

The visitor was somewhat distressed by this rude welcome, but said nothing.

After Sunday School, the visitor went into the church sanctuary and sat down. Another member walked up to him and said, "That's where I always sit. You took my place!"

The visitor was even more troubled by this treatment, but still said nothing.

Later, as the congregation was praying for Christ to dwell among them, the visitor stood, and his appearance began to change. Horrible scars became visible on his hands and on his sandaled feet.

Someone from the congregation noticed him and called out, "What happened to you?"

The visitor replied, "I took your place."

GOD wants us to live like the GRASS
It's stepped on,
It's crushed,
It's burned,
and cut..
Yet, it PERSISTS and GROWS back,
even greener and stronger,
That is the PROCESS.

A little girl walked daily to and from school. Though the weather one morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school. As the day progressed, the winds whipped up, along with thunder and lightning.

The mother of the little girl was worried that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school, and she herself feared that the electrical storm might harm her child.

Following the roar of the thunder, lightning would cut through the sky like a flaming sword.

Being concerned, the mother got into her car and drove along the route to her child's school. Soon she saw her daughter walking along, but at each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look and smile.

One followed another, each with the little girl stopping, looking at the streak of light and smiling.

Finally, the mother called her over to the car and asked, "What are you doing?"

The child answered, "God keeps taking pictures of me."

There are little eyes upon you, And they're watching night and day;

There are little ears that quickly, take in every word you say;

There are little hands all eager, to do anything you do,

And a little fellow who is dreaming of the day he'll be like you.

You are the little fellow's idol, You are the wisest of the wise,

In his mind, about you, no suspicions ever rise.

He believes in you devoutly, holds that all you say and do,

He will say and do in his own way when he's a grown-up like you.

There's a wide-eyed little fellow, who believes you are always right,

And his ears are always open and he watches you day and night.

You are setting an example everyday in all you do,

For the little fellow who's watching to grow up and be like you.

I have a true story that happened to me. I awoke one morning to tell my husband about a dream I had the night before.

I dreamed about a man I had known twenty
years before and I could not imagine why. He was standing in the dusty window of a vacant store and holding a box of Carnation Instant Breakfast. I went into the store and remarked that I had not seen him in ages, but that he looked wonderful. He stated that he had recently seen my mother. I told him that was quite impossible because my mother had died four years before that time. He insisted that he had talked to her and she was wonderful and happy. Then, he simply vanished.

In telling the story to my husband we surmised that it was a sign that my mother was happy in her heavenly home and this was her way of telling me.

That evening I opened the paper that had come that day to read that the man in my dream had been buried the day before. I was amazed to say the least. I
immediately called his daughter to express my sympathies. I could not believe he was gone. Heavens, he was only about 58 years old.

She told me he had died of AIDS just a few days before but had been sick for a long time. I felt I had to tell her about my dream. In going through the steps of the dream I came to the part about him holding box of Carnation Instant Breakfast and there was an audible gasp on the other end of the phone. I asked what was wrong and she told me that for the last six months of his life, Carnation Instant Breakfast was the only food her father could keep down.

We both feel we were blessed with a message. If I had not discussed my dream with my husband the morning after it came in my sleep, I would not believe it
myself.

God sends messages in the strangest ways.

A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks, the pastor decided to visit him.

It was a chilly evening. The pastor found the man at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his pastor's visit, the man welcomed him, led him to a big chair near the fireplace and waited.

The pastor made himself comfortable but said nothing. In the grave silence, he contemplated the play of the flames around the burning logs. After some minutes, the pastor took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone.

Then he sat back in his chair, still silent. The host watched all this in quiet fascination. As the one lone ember's flame diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more.

Soon it was cold and "dead as a doornail."

Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. Just before the pastor was ready to leave, he picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it. As the pastor reached the door to leave,
his host said,

"Thank you so much for your visit and especially for the fiery sermon. I shall be back in church next Sunday.

Someone ask me not long ago after missing church, "Did I miss anything?"

After I thought about it I came up with a few things. If you don't attend Worship Service regularly, here's a few things you might be missing. I didn't put the following in any particular order, I just wrote them as I remembered what happened that Sunday.

* the smile on that little girl's face when she came out of Sunday School.

* the joy of sitting together with your wife and family.

* seeing someone give their heart to Christ.

* singing your favorite hymn with the congregation.

* the chance to smile at someone and encourage them.

* the meaningful worship chorus that's our favorite.

* pausing for a moment to say thanks to God for all he has blessed you with.

* the opportunity to learn something from the scripture. (when was the last time you did that?)

* the feeling of being a part of something bigger than we are.

* the chance to pray for our government.

* the minister's new haircut.

* the opportunity to financially support a ministry right here in our community.

* the chance to encourage personally, someone who is struggling.

* the beautiful song the choir shared with us.

* the joining together in congregational prayer.

* the special testimony someone shared.

* the opportunity to say hello to your neighbor.

* that uplifting feeling that makes you ready to face the week.

* the reality of being spiritually encouraged in a discouraging world.

* realizing you're not alone in your problems.

* the chance to mention someone's name that needs prayer.

* learning of all the ways you can join in and actually help in the Lord's work.

Did you miss anything last Sunday?

Once upon a time two brothers who lived on adjoining farms fell into conflict. It was the first serious rift in 40 years of farming side by side, sharing machinery, and trading labor and goods as needed without a hitch. Then the long collaboration fell apart.

It began with a small misunderstanding and it grew into a major difference, and finally it exploded into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence.

One morning there was a knock on John's door. He opened it to find a man with a carpenter's toolbox. "I'm looking for a few days work" he said. "Perhaps you would have a few small jobs here and there. Could I help you?"

"Yes," said the older brother. "I do have a job for you.

Look across the creek at that
farm. That's my neighbor, in fact, it's my younger brother. Last week there was a meadow between us and he took his bulldozer to the river levee and now there is a creek between us. Well, he may have done this to spite me, but I'll go him one better. See that pile of lumber curing by the barn? I want you to build me a fence -- an 8-foot fence -- so I won't need to see his place anymore. Cool him down, anyhow."

The carpenter said, "I think I understand the situation. Show me the nails and the post-hole digger and I'll be able to do a job that pleases you."

The older brother had to go to town for supplies, so he helped the carpenter get
the materials ready and then he was off for the day.

The carpenter worked hard all that day measuring, sawing, nailing.

About sunset when the farmer returned, the carpenter had just finished his job. The farmer's eyes opened wide, his jaw dropped.

There was no fence there at all. It was a bridge -- a bridge stretching from one
side of the creek to the other! A fine piece of work -- handrails and all -- and the neighbor, his younger brother, was coming across, his hand outstretched.

"You are quite a fellow to build this bridge after all I've said and done."
The two brothers stood at each end of the bridge, and then they met in the
middle, taking each other's hand. They turned to see the carpenter hoist his
toolbox on his shoulder. "No, wait! Stay a few days. I've a lot of other projects for you," said the older brother.

"I'd love to stay on," the carpenter said, "but, I have many more bridges to build."

"Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and Justice for all! Amen!"

"Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentle man approached the table.

He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."

"Really?" my son asked

"Cross my heart." Then in theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

"Naturally, I bought my kid's ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life.

He picked up his sundae and without a word walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes and my soul is good already."
