Spring is approaching here in Australia. So, I post this poem as it is so appropriate for this time of year, a new beginning for all things.

Plant three rows of peas:
Peace of mind
Peace of heart
Peace of soul..

Plant four rows of squash:
Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness..

Plant four rows of lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be happy
Lettuce really love one another..

No garden should be without turnips:
Turnip for service when needed
Turnip to help one another
Turnip the music and sing..

Water freely with patience and Cultivate with love...

There is much fruit in your garden because you reap what you sow..

To conclude our garden,

We must have thyme:
Thyme for fun
Thyme for rest
Thyme for ourselves.

John, 4, didn't usually behave well in restaurants. But when they took him to a boarding house restaurant with religious pictures and old plates everywhere, John sat up straight in his chair, had perfect manners, in short, he was a little angel.

After the meal, when she was buckling him into his carseat, his mother asked, "Did you like Hopkins' House?"

He replied, "What is Hopkins' House?"

"You know, the restaurant where we just ate."

"That wasn't Hopkins' House," John said, "that was Jesus' House!"

Astonished, his mother asked, "John, what makes you think that was Jesus' house?"

He looked at his mother as though he couldn't believe she would miss the clues and said;

"HIS MOM HAD PICTURES OF HIM ALL OVER THAT HOUSE!"

That story is from John's mother,
Dot Sims of Pensacola, Fla.

A little girl became a big sister and continually wanted to spend time alone with the new baby.

The mother was uneasy to leave the youngster alone with the newborn but the youngster persisted. Finally the mom told the little girl she could go into the baby's room alone.

Standing outside the room, the mother was able to hear her youngster talking to the baby in the crib, "Tell me what God looks like, I am starting to forget."

OMG!! I was not aware that Moms Pumpkin Soup has marked its one-year anniversary! Moms Pumpkin Soup had a skin and layout change early this week, which I did purely because I thought I will give this blog a brighter and more attractive exterior. Not for any other reasons. But now, I realize that 'something' inside me encouraged me to do those changes and it’s for a reason, for Moms Pumpkin Soup 1st Anniversary!! ;)

Well, it’s actually on 1 February 2008 when I first created a new and my first blog in my life, wrote my first post with title "Never regret a day in your life".

Good days give you happiness;
Bad days give you experiences;
Both are essential to life.

A lot of new experiences I have been learning from these wonderful quotes that I read and posted, they inspired me so much during my good and bad days. Yes, they are absolutely essential parts to my life…

This site has honestly been an absolute delight to write and made more so by you guys, thanks to all of the busy people who have viewed and taken the time to browse this blog, especially those who leave comments (come on you lurkers - why not say hi!).

Thanks a lot everyone!

I've learned....
that love, not time, heals all wounds.

I've learned....
that the easiest way for me to grow as a person is
to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

I've learned....
that I always think of the right thing to say when it's too late.

I've learned....
that no matter what their ages or how far away they may be,
you never stop wanting to keep a protective arm
around your children.

I've learned....
to gather all the crumbs thrown my way.
They soon form a lovely, thick slice of life and memories.

I've learned....
that under everyone's hard shell is
someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I've learned....
never to humiliate another person.
Always give him an honorable way to back down or out of something and still save face.

I've learned....
that if you are still talking about what you did yesterday,
you haven't done much today.

I've learned....
that to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

I've learned....
that when you plan to get even with someone,
you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

A mother was watching her four-year-old child playing outside in a small plastic pool half filled with water.

He was happily walking back and forth across the pool, making big splashes. Suddenly, he stopped, stepped out of the pool, and began to scoop water out of the pool with a pail.

"Why are you pouring the water out, Jimmy?" the mother asked.

"Cause my teacher said Jesus walked on water, and this water won't work." The boy replied.

Dear subscribers.

Mom's Pumpkin Soup is currently being upgraded to have a new template and some interesting new features. While we are doing this upgrade, you will expect to see some testings related posts. This should be finished in a few hours.

Please stay tune! :)

I've learned....
that sometimes all a person needs is a hand
to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned....
that when my spouse has failed to fulfill my needs,
it's highly likely I've also neglected hers.

I've learned....
that life is like a roll of toilet paper.
The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I've learned....
that it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I've learned....
that once a relationship is over,
if you experienced more smiles than tears,
then it wasn't a waste of time.

I've learned....
that being kind is more important than being right.

I've learned....
that I need to let my friends comfort me and hold me up,
to let them know I need support,
that I'm not always as strong as I look or act.

I've learned....
that when I'm waiting to see my doctor,
I always wish I had stuck to my diet.

I've learned....
that I can always pray for someone
when I don't have the strength to help him
in some other way.

I've learned....
that no matter how serious your life requires you to be,
everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I've learned....
that I feel better about myself when
I make others feel better about themselves.

I've learned....
that what we have done for ourselves alone dies with us.
What we have done for others, and the world,
remains and is immortal.

I've learned....
that people will remember you as being a great conversationalist
if you mostly listen.

I've learned....
that one sincere apology is worth more than all the roses money can buy.

I've learned....
that words harshly spoken are as difficult to retrieve as feathers in a gale.

I've learned....
that the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

I've learned....
that a kindness done is never lost.
It may take a while, but like a suitcase on a luggage carousel,
it will return again.

I've learned....
that when you're in love, it shows.

I've learned....
that if you hang something in the closet for a while,
it shrinks two sizes.

I've learned....
that just one person saying to me,
"You've made my day!" makes my day.

I've learned -
that your family won't always be there for you.
It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to
can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again.
Families aren't biological.

I've learned -
that no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every once in a while
and you must forgive them for that.

I've learned -
that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I've learned -
that no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I've learned -
that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.

I've learned -
that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down
will be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned -
that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that
doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I've learned -
that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I've learned -
that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to
doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned -
that maturity has more to do with
what types of experiences you've had and
what you've learned from them and less to do
with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength;
loving someone deeply gives you courage.

Take happiness and laughter,

Mix thoroughly with romance.

Add hugs, pecks,and sprinkle with kisses.

Bind with pleasureand bake with faith.

Serve with endless love.

Jephthah Adotey

Her eyes, beautiful and dark,
I take her hand, lead her through the park.

Along a path, through the trees,
I feel the cold, autumn breeze.

Everything slows down, as her other hand finds my cheek,
My eyes sparkle with love, my legs go weak.

Our lips press gently, the sun shines gold,
Drops of rain surround us, my heart is sold.

Tom Bly

I've learned -
that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I've learned -
that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

I've learned -
that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I've learned -
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned -
that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I've learned -
that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I've learned -
that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I've learned -
that you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.

I've learned -
that you can keep going long after you can't.

I've learned -
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

What a wonderful new meaning for ASAP.

"Always Say A Prayer (A.S.A.P.)"

There's work to do,
deadlines to meet,
you've got no time to spare,
but as you hurry and scurry,
always say a prayer.

In the midst of family chaos,
"quality time" is rare.

Do your best;
let God do the rest:
always say a prayer.

It may seem like your worries
are more than you can bear.

Slow down and take a breather
always say a prayer.

God knows how stressful life is;
He wants to ease our cares,
and He'll respond A.S.A.P.;
Always Say A Prayer!

God be with you in the SPRING TIME ... skiSeason
When the violets unfold,
And the buttercups and cowslips
Fill the fields with yellow gold;
In the time of apple blossoms;
When the happy bluebirds sing,
Filling all the world with gladness ...
God be with you in the Spring!

God be with you in the SUMMER ...
When sweet June roses blow;
When the bobolinks are laughing
And the brooks with music flow;
When the fields are white with daisies
And the days are glad and long.
God be with you in the Summer ...
Filling all your world with song!

God be with you in the AUTUMN ...
When the birds and flowers have fled;
And along the woodland pathways
Leaves are falling ... gold and red;
When the Summer lies behind you,
In the evening of the year.
God be with you in the Autumn ...
Then to fill your heart with cheer!

God be with you in the WINTER ...
When the snow lies deep and white;
When the sleeping fields are so silent
And the stars gleam cold and bright;
When the hand and heart are tired
With life's long and weary quest.
God be with you in the Winter ...
Just to guide you into rest!

If I had my life to live over,
I would try to make more mistakes next time,
I would relax, I would lighten up
I would be sillier than I ever have been
I would take more things less seriously
I would be crazier
I would take more chances
I would take more trips
I would climb more mountains,
Swim more rivers,
And watch more sunsets.

I would have more real problems
And very few imaginary ones
I have had my moments,
And if I had to do it over again,
I'd have more of them
In fact, I'd have nothing else...
Just moments, one after another

Instead of living so many years ahead of each day
I would go places and do things
And travel lighter than I have

I would stand barefoot earlier in the spring,
And stay that way later in the fall

I would pick more daisies
I would ride on more merry-go-rounds
I would gather more clowns in my life
I would hug more people, and hold more hands
I would meet you sooner and know you longer
And, I would love you better.

Though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings, thank you, Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.

Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible, thank you, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising, thank you, Lord, that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast is burned and tempers are short, my children are so loud, thank you, Lord, for my family. There are many who are lonely.

Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced, thank you, Lord, for the food we have. There are many who are hungry.

Even though the routine of my job often is monotonous, thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are many who have no job.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my circumstances were not so modest, thank you, Lord, for life!

Even though we feel alone sometimes, thank you Lord, for friends. A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift. A friend is someone to treasure. For friendship is a gift. A friend is someone who fills our lives with Beauty, Joy and Grace and makes the world we live in a better and happier place.

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother of pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?" "This is heaven, sir," the man answered.

"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.

"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up."

The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked. "I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going. After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside leaning against a tree and reading a book.

"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?"

"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there" The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in."

"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog. "There should be a bowl by the pump." They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them.

"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.

"This is heaven," was the answer.

"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was heaven, too."

"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell."

"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"

"No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just happy that they screen out the folks who'll leave their best friends behind."
