I find it disgusting at how well our government ministers are looked after financially in the UK, especially when you consider what a shambles we are in economically. If it’s not a second home allowance (do they have to specify where exactly I wonder or do they all reside in Spain for half the year?!) or an extreme amount of expenses, it’s a pay out to get rid of them or keep them. Peter Mandelson, returning to the government for the third time is to pick up a healthy salary again of over £100k a year and presumably not including bonus. Not only that he is going to be receiving close to ¼ of a million ponds in taxpayer-funded pay over the next three years as a pay-out from the European Commission while he takes his new seat in the Cabinet. Does it sound fair? Not to me. How much actual good work does he do and hence is he worth that much?

If our hard earned taxes were being put to better use we may not be in such a pickle of economic downturn!

I definitely support the school of thought that laughing is the best medicine. Whether it be at school, college, the work place or out with friends, having a right good laugh and letting off steam is the best way to keep yourself sane.

An interesting report suggests how laughter can help us through the credit crunch, as from a psychological point of view laughing can often help us tremendously when there is nothing that can be done or a solution can not be sought.

However, the Credit crunch is definitely a serious matter and one that affects us all greatly.

So, when you switch off your computers for the weekend make sure you have a right good laugh and kick back and relax!

When did salaries get so high? The early nineties? I suppose its all relative as salaries that seem low nowadays would have been very high in older days gone by prior to the nineties. But my point it is how can CEO’s of companies and footballers on the books of Clubs actually be worth as much as they are getting? Yes they do a great job, they lead the company to success, score goals for the mass audience and fans but it seems ludicrous that we can have so many people in this world at the opposite end of the spectrum struggling to make ends meet. Could it be that these high salaries together with the previous abundance of loan and credit offers from banks and building societies be the real cause for the down turn in the worlds markets? Those who can’t afford to live they way they want are borrowing too much and living beyond their means and those who can are really being paid too much. How can one of America’s biggest banks fall with the current economic problems but yet their man in charge reportedly take home $300m over the last 8 years in pay and bonuses? Who needs that much money? I say spread the love a bit more and stop hogging it! It was Bill Gates who so rightly stated not long ago that his family would only receive what they needed  to survive comfortably for the rest if their lives (still an enormous amount of money I hasten to add) and that the rest will be dedicated to being divided up amongst the various charities he supports. Hats off to the man. That’s the kind of spirit we want!

Since when was the online industry meant to be affected by the global credit crunch?

eBay are cutting its workforce claiming that they are streamlining the business. 1,000 employees are to loose their jobs its been reported. eBay seem to be remaining in high spirits however as they go on the acquisition trail buying up a new payment site and other websites. So, are they actually streamlining the business or are they merely dancing around the fact that its due to the credit crunch that their workforce is being cut?

They certainly seem to be following their own philosophy of Buy it, Sell it, Love it!

The highest number of job cuts in the USA for 5 years were reported for September – 159,000 jobs were lost!

With the bail out plans blocked currently by congress where are our world markets heading? The only way seems down unless they can agree to pump the money in!

What goes on in the USA unfortunately does not stay in the USA. The UK are sure to see similar (in proportion) high job losses in these continued difficult times although the good thing is the head of the Bank of England has “vowed” to make sure he does everything he can to prevent any more banks going down.

I’ll believe it when I see it….
