We are looking for either Full time or contract workers

Riot Games, Inc. (www.riotgames.com) is an independent Los Angeles-based video game development company, funded privately and through leading venture capital firms Benchmark Capital and Firstmark Capital. The studio was established in 2006 to develop innovative online next-generation titles for consoles and the PC. Comprised of industry veterans with a shared passion for creating fun, innovative gameplay, the company is currently developing a cutting-edge game platform in conjunction with their first title, combining the best elements of the action role-playing and real-time strategy genres into a uniquely replayable and competitive multiplayer experience.
Tired of working for companies with no revenue? We're a well-funded start-up doing almost $50M (and growing 100%/year) by running dozens of specialty sites like elliptical-trainersuperstore.com. Based in “sunny” San Francisco, we are building a tightly-knit team that will set new standards for agility. This is a great opportunity for front-end engineers with talent and experience who yearn for a small, fast-paced environment where they can make a real difference.

WHY THIS IS A COOL JOB
This is not the type of job where you bat PRDs around all day in the name of development! You will not be hiding in a back room, fiddling with a red stapler. You will be in an open seating environment next to store managers and business owners, honing an iterative approach to feature-development in response to live data. You will be involved from the first conception of new features through each iteration, so expect to get your fingers dirty.

We're no fly-by-nighter; you'll get the full benefits shebang, including health, vision, dental, LTD coverage- all paid-in-full, a 401K plan, and 3 weeks of paid leave. Certain things about a dotcom don't change: you can look forward to snacks of dubious provenance, wickedly strong coffee, and random pizza parties. We like to have fun.

WHY YOU ARE A COOL CANDIDATE
You might have E-commerce experience, or live and breathe AJAX and browser compatibility. Your intelligence, drive, and energy will help you play with the best. Bonus points if:
    • You want to make life better for both online customers and the poor souls who manage content.
    • Agility is not just a way to avoid documentation, but a way to get more things done.
    • You take pride that your sites render properly in Safari with a full AJAX experience.
    • You love the Internet! Include your five favorite Web sites in your cover letter. You will not be disqualified if you list Mugglenet.com as one of your favorites... but it will be a tough hurdle to overcome.

    REQUIREMENTS
    • 3+ years of consumer oriented front-end development
    • Experienced in designing and implementing for usability and ergonomics
    • Strong AJAX design and implementation skills
Skills: XHTML, CSS, AJAX, JSON, PHP

    DETAILS
    • Location: San Francisco (North Beach)
    • Start Date: Immediate
    • Job Type: Full-time + benefits
    • Compensation: $90K +
    HOW TO APPLY
Send us your résumé and a cover letter (make sure you read the entire posting – your cover letter will give you away if you didn’t...) to jobs-sf@mercantila-inc.com. Include “Front-End Wizard” in the subject line.

    The Position:

C hacker // Senior Systems Engineer

    The Opportunity:

OpenDNS is looking for an experienced unix (linux, openbsd, freebsd or solaris) developer to join our engineering team as a senior software engineer. This is an opportunity to join a early-stage startup where you will be able to architect and develop software for next-generation internet services.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with coding within a complete system and not just inside an IDE. Current and former OS hackers (linux kernel, freebsd, etc), database hackers (postgresql, oracle, mysql, etc), and popular daemon hackers (apache, postfix, etc) might be great fits.

    Requirements:

    • A proven track record of getting software out the door and working well with a team.
    • C network programming on a unix platform
    • Experience dealing with large datasets. We handle 7+ billion DNS requests a day. That's a lot of data.
    • Comfort moving around a unix environment and using tools like make, strace, gdb, etc.
    • Experience developing software to interoperate within the specs of various RFCs.
    • Experience with some or all of the following protocols: DNS, HTTP, SMTP.
    • Familiarity with various techniques for logging, storing and queuing data on a network, disk or memory system.

    Bonus Points:

    • Experience developing software using the CDB library.
    • Involvement in any Free or Open Source software projects.

    Quick Skill List:

C, libmemcache (memcached), Sockets, Network Programming, DNS, CVS, CDB (libcdb), djbdns, apache, freebsd, debian, etc.

    The Company:

OpenDNS is building new pieces of fundamental infrastructure for the internet and having a great time doing what we are passionate about. We provide an exciting and fulfilling work environment, unmatched opportunity for professional growth, and excellent compensation. We are a funded startup with a small team working full time at our fantastic offices in San Francisco (which provides tons of bandwidth and comfort). We are supported and advised by well-respected and well-known technologists who excel in their field. Together we want to see a better and safer internet for end-users and consumers. We look forward to talking with you.

    Benefits of working at OpenDNS

Innovative – We aren't a social networking or Web 2.0 photosharing site. We work on core Internet protocols and make them better.

No ladders to climb – We keep a relatively flat corporate structure that promotes fast movement and flexible teams.

Meritocracy – The best ideas win, regardless of where they come from.

Time off to relax – As a startup, we work our butts off. That's why it's important to get away to clear your mind from time to time. Three weeks and 10 company holidays make that easy.

Technologists – We are a company of engineers and technologists passionate about delivering a better Internet.

Profit distributions – We succeed as a team and have an innovative structure where everyone can share in our financial success.

Offsites – It takes getting away for a day every quarter to focus on where we want to be as a company and how we're going to get there.

No timecards – We have a few weekly team meetings, but other than that delivering results counts for a lot more than sitting in your chair.

Food – Hard work makes you hungry. We keeped a well-stocked kitchen with everything from cereal to ice cream.

Frosty beverages – Fridays often end with some nice frosty brewed beverages and good conversations.

Breakfast by the CEO – The early bird gets the worm, or in our case Waffles on Wednesdays, served by our CEO.

Insurance – We've got you covered from you head to your toes. Medical, Dental and Vision.

401K – We're setup to help our team members practice responsible fiscal management.

    Profit Sharing:

OpenDNS has an equity structure unlike most startups. Our structure directly benefits employees (who are owners in the company). Unlike most startups where options are granted and vest into the right to purchase shares that may or may not ever be worth anything, OpenDNS employees vest directly into ownership in the company and have the ability to participate in profit sharing. This creates an environment where the hard work of the team is recognized before an exit event.

Please apply for the position online. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Other Details:

Please email with questions if you've got 'em. Thanks!

Note: There are multiple positions available -- this is for full time work only -- no contractors or recruiters. Salary is commensurate with experience!
