Job Description:
As an Associate Operations Engineer, you will be part of the team responsible for the operations of world-class systems powering some of the most popular and influential sites on the Web. You will help support the growth and stability of systems and applications supporting user registration, ad serving, data warehousing, and other business-critical services used across CBS Interactive brands and business units, including CNET.com, Download.com, GameSpot. SR. NETWORK ENGINEER


The Sr. Network Engineer will engage in efforts that include network design projects that identify, assess, and develop detailed requirements for supporting the existing data center / co-location networks as well as re-designing network segments in order to facilitate our growing infrastructure. Additionally, the Network Engineer will be responsible for administering, managing and maintaining the corporate network infrastructure. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze the organization's overall security risks and requirements, and the related design, configuration, implementation and support of the information infrastructure

• Manage, configure, scan, test, and secure server and network systems

• Monitor and remediate any infrastructure security or performance issues

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The System Administrator will be responsible for designing, installing and maintaining networks, servers, company-wide applications and telephone systems. Must be familiar with current technology standards and must continue to stay abreast of relevant changes in the industry and make recommendations for change where appropriate. The System Administrator is responsible for ensuring uptime and availability of all company-wide applications and network resource, as well as implementing and regularly testing appropriate data backup measures. Excellent customer services are an essential part of the position.  In addition to handling behind-the-scenes operations, The System Administrator must also be able provide advanced-tier technical support to end users (via phone, email or in-person) for issues beyond the skills of first-tier helpdesk staff.

Requires knowledge of and 3 - 5 years of experience with the following:

  • Wired Ethernet LAN implementation and support (including VLANs).  
  • Wireless LAN implementation, support. Must be familiar with WPA / RADIUS authentication for wireless LANs. Must be familiar with security issues related to wireless LANs and industry-standard precautions regarding such issues.
  • WAN technologies, such as IPSec VPNs and T1s. Also, must be familiar with router management, and IP routing concepts.
  • Basic network protocols, such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, IPSec, SSL, RADIUS. Must also be familiar with troubleshooting these protocols using network analyzers.
  • Active Directory. Must have experience supporting an Active Directory network spread across multiple physical locations.

  • Microsoft SQL Server. Must be familiar with basic SQL Server management, setup, and troubleshooting. Must be familiar with basic RDBMS concepts, including index management.
  •   Windows file servers. Must be familiar with managing file servers and data stored on file servers. Must be familiar with NTFS security practices.
  • Microsoft Certificate services. Must be familiar with certificates as used both for SSL encryption and user authentication. Must have a working knowledge of public-key encryption techniques.
  • Backup systems. Must have experience with managing backup systems for file servers, SQL Servers and Exchange servers
     

Preferred Qualifications:  

  •   Familiarity with advanced SQL Server support, including performance tuning, and high-availability practices.
  •   Phone system support and troubleshooting skills for equipment and service.  Working knowledge of NEC and Nortel systems a plus.
