On this months show I was joined by the Discomendments crew from Birmingham, Lee Fisher & Paul Kaminski. Lee Fisher Stalwart of the Midlands underground dance scene for two decades. Since promoting the night "Hypnosis" back in 1988 at Birmingham's infamous Hummingbird night club he has not looked back. He did radio shows on pirate stations Laser & Starlight FM. In 1990 he opened Pure, Birminghams first specialist dance music record store. He then set up the "Bosting" record label in 1993 who released the club smash "All Funked Up" by Mother. In 1999 he set up "Further Recordings" with Jock Lee and Austen Kilburn, which has established itself as a quality house imprint with support worldwide from many of the scenes big players. Also hosting Further parties with guests such as Eddie Piller, Max Sedgley, Frank Tope, Bill Brewster, Bert Bevans, Dj Spen, Joey Negro, Digs and Woosh, Phil Asher, Dr Bob Jones, Robert Owens, Greg Wilson & Charles Webster. Paul Kaminski Having worked in Birmingham record stores for years it was inevitable that he would immerse himself in Birminghams underground music scene & would DJ on heavy rotation in & around Birmingham. Whether playing in a swanky bar or sweaty basement Paul always delivers, with a his trademark smooth, eclectic selections. Discomendments was established by the lads in 2000. The aim being to take their favourite tracks across the genres and give them their special Discomendments treatment to make you move. As well as editing their favourite tracks they also run a bi-monthly club night @ The Red Baboon in Birmingham, where you can here the boys drop all their own edits & other djs/producer's alongside more contemporary nuggets. With a busy dj schedule over the next few months including slots at The Garden Festival, Croatia. Also co-hosting their own festival "Open Minded People" on the Garden Festival site in August & and a Discomendments 12" release in the pipe-line expect to hear a lot more from these guys. Check out their Myspace. The next Discomendments is Saturday June 21st, which i am excited to be playing at. Come and join us down in the basement! www.myspace.com/discomendments PODCAST PT1 Bootsy Womack & womack - Life is just a ballgame Two tons of fun - Just us Low motion disco - Love love love (Aeroplane rmx) Popular people's front - Listen to the music Dennis Brown - High on your love Don Armando's Second Avenue Rhumba Band - Deputy of love Lee Herb Alpert - Beyond Gino Soccio - Remember OBGB - Mix 03 Fatty - Princer The Strikers - Inch by inch Casso - The walkman Paul Discorgasm - Erotic Santana - Singing winds, crying beasts A Man Called Adam - Techno Powers (Harvey's binary soul mix) Peter Visti - Balearic Love Dormeister vs MDLA - Boogie no more (Reverso 68 mix) Mock & Toof - Big hands for a lady Chaz Jankel - Get yourself together (Hercules & Love affair rmx)

DOWNLOAD THE FOR THE LOVE RADIO SHOW - DROPOUT BOOGIE SPECIAL WITH MARK E & ROB J To showcase the launch of their new night "DROPOUT BOOGIE" in Birmingham I was joined by; Rob J Avid vinyl collector & train spotter Rob has been on the UK dance scene both as a punter & a DJ for many years. His almost child like enthusiasm for the music & the underground scene that he loves is contagious, never have I met someone who is so up for spreading the word & sharing their knowledge about hidden dusty gems that some of his more pretenious luminaries might be inclined to keep within their clique. This & his bounding enthusiasm make him one of the the most popular blokes in the underground scene today. He was responsible for booking guests such as Prins Thomas, Lindstrøm, Todd Terje, No Ordinary Monkey, Mudd, Phil Mison, Moonboots, Balearic Mike, Al Kent, Bill Brewster and many more to deliver some of the best nights in Birmingham in recent years, as co-promoter of The Bam Bam Club. Now he is part of "The Main Stem" http://www.myspace.com/bennyupsetter Who are producing some absolute gems. Some re-edits & some original material of their's due for release soon. Mark E http://www.myspace.com/mark_e_jisco & http://www.cityrhythm.net/ Hailing from Wolverhampton, Mark E who had been uploading his DJ mixes on cityrhythm.net for some time, caused quite a stir in 2005 with his release of "Scared" on Birmingham's Jiscomusic label. His super deep edit of Womack & Womack's "Baby I'm scared of you", coming across like a lost Theo Parrish edit, it was championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Micheal Reutten & The Unabombers. That was followed in 2006 by another bomb on Jiscomusic "Smiling/For Love" & Deja Vu on Running Back records.Last year saw the release of R&B Drunkie on Golf Channel Recordings (His edit of Janet Jackson's R&B Junkie. Shhh.... don't tell the Jackson estate) This year is shaping up to be a busy one with a few new releases in the pipeline, the track "Fighter" featured on Gerd Janson's compilation "Computer Incarnations For World Peace Vol 2" on Sonar Kollectiv & a remix on the way for Mock & Toof on Tiny Sticks. The first DROPOUT BOOGIE was last Saturday 16th Feb & was a great first night with Frank Tope tearing it up. Check their blog here for photos of the night & Frank's set http://xdropxoutxboogiex.blogspot.com/ DROPOUT BOOGIE shows all the signs of being a great monthly knees up with confirmed forthcoming guests Bill Brewster & myself Bootsy.
