Our Review reveals what the Satellite TV for PC Elite Edition software can and cannot do, pros and cons, including its strengths and weaknesses which will determine its true value. Tue, 15 Jan 2008 17:49:00 +0100 REDIRECTION PAGE This site was recently updated and moved to new address... See The Best Top 5 Leading PC Satellite TV software - Satellite TV for PC 2008 and others including reviews (CLICK HERE) Review of Elite Edition - Same as Pro & Titanium Editions Only More Channels From the desk of: Philip Sumpter WARNING! This review target's the Exclusive Distributor of the Satellite TV for PC software and will lead you to that Distributor for more information. Be careful of price hikes and unscrupulous methods used by those claiming to be the real distributor. Do NOT mistake this software to similar Satellite TV software and merchants. Any Satellite/Internet TV software advertised with girly pictures should send up a red flag. More than likely you won't get the best quality. Many people seem to get scammed with those cheap $6.00 - $10.00 or so prices and girly pictures. My advice is to stay away from them. About the merchant - SatelliteSoft is the exclusive distributor of the Satelite TV for PC Pro, Elite and Titanium Editions. Since its launch back in 2006, over one million software editions sold. Today, this new wave of innovative digital technology couldn't come at a better time for those seeking less expensive ways to enjoy like-Satellite/Cable TV channels. That's right... you read it correctly! This software doesn't give you real Satellite/Cable TV but it's the next best thing. Is Satellite TV Software Real, Illegal and a Scam? When I received an email from a friend introducing me to the Sat TV for PC software, right off the bat I wanted to know was the software illegal. In other words, was it hacking any Satellite and Cable TV service from the Internet. The merchant said there was no hacking and cracking to be concern about, but I decided to explore this further and did some research on my own. In the end, I couldn't find anything that told me this software was in fact illegal. What I didn't like was the fact that I couldn't find anything telling me this software is, without a doubt, legal. And that continues to remain in my mind. So I will continue researching this area until I see in printing whether it's illegal. The other thing to know is there are 100s perhaps 1000s of merchants selling different types of software and Internet TV and Radio channel packages. Just do a search on Google, Yahoo or MSN for satellite tv pc or internet tv pc, etc. Also, there have been millions of people Worldwide who either downloaded a Satellite TV software or paid for some type of package to enjoy Internet TV. So if the software doesn't hack into any Satellite TV or Cable TV service such as Comcast or DirecTV. Does it hack into any World Wide Web sources illegally? Again, I couldn't find any information on this as well. The software gives me complete access to many different Internet sources where all types of channels, sports, movies, etc., can be watched. The software gathers and streams audio/video files, through TV players, from the World Wide Web. These audio and video files are legally available to everyone Worldwide so it seems. If you have any information that states this is indeed hacking and cracking software, I would like to hear about it and know where I can get access to that information. Just send me a comment with that information. That said, I want to tell you more what this software can and can't do, as well as my likes and dislikes. SatelliteSoft is closing the gap between home Satellite/Cable TV and Internet TV. Consider how we enjoy TV entertainment today. We either pay for Satellite or Cable monthly services, or we get it free [illegally], or simply stick with our boring regular TVs. We buy/rent movies, music videos, and the equipment to watch this entertainment. In the end, all of this becomes more of an expense as Satellite/Cable TV companies continue to raise their subscription fees. Although I never purchased a Satellite TV service before but considered it, I have purchased Cable TV and discontinued it due to other expenses. I'm sure you already know how Satellite and Cable TV services works. You know that additional fees will be charged for more channels which includes, but not limited to, new technology and service as more advanced equipment is introduced. This in turn translates to more cost, maintenance and repair, including down time. I chose to take a different root but didn't want to do anything illegal to enjoy the entertainment I'm accustom to such as, great movies, sports, etc. In the USA, Satellite TV is unregulated which gives Satellite TV companies such as Direct TV the power to charge whatever they like. The end result is... we've become addicted to Satellite and Cable TV companies. They have us believe there is no other way to enjoy this type of entertainment legally. And that we must spend more to keep enjoying what we learned to love over the years... WRONG!! We do have another option! You will get thousands of free TV and Radio channels Worldwide in different languages, and a whole lot more. I don't pay one cent to get unlimited access to DVD-like movies, tv and radio channels, music videos, etc. And I didn't have to install any equipment to enjoy this entertainment. I was truly amazed how this software package gave me instant access and automatically stored my movie selections, which I am now creating a HUGH movie library. It gives me the flexibility to watch any entertainment I so desire on my laptop computer anytime and anywhere. The software requires nothing more than a desktop or laptop computer with a Broadband Internet Connection preferably. What I didn't like about the Sat TV for PC player, (plays videos and audios) it didn't have a 'Favorite' button to store all of my favorite TV and radio shows. Also, I was a little overwhelmed with the 74 Country categories. Each had there own selection of channels to choose from. I chose the USA category and started to browse at all the channels. There was no TV guide readily accessible to describe these channels. So I began clicking channels to watch them. Included with software package are other TVPlayers such as TVants, Ares, VLC, Real Player and Windows Media Player - many of them are free and included as bonuses. Although I had a couple of these players installed on my computer already, I could have downloaded the other free players like Ares myself. But I didn't know at the time. Seeing what I paid for the software did make everything do smoothly. Everything was easily accessible from one place, which made me very comfortable with the overall process. As I continued to explore further with some skeptical still, I wanted to know if the Elite Edition really held up to the merchant's claims. In other words, was it for REAL or just another Internet SCAM. But after extensive research including downloading and using the software, here's what I've have found... Firstly, the Elite, Pro and Titanium Editions are all the same with exception to the prices and number of accessible channels you get from each edition. In other words, they all have the same features only the Pro gives you access to 2800+ channels, the Elite gives you 3000+ channels, and the Titanium gives you 4000+ channels. So if you were looking for a review just on the Titanium or Pro edition, you are getting it right now. Safety and Security Purchasing the software - SatelliteSoft sold over one million software editions, with a great number of those sales going through Clickbank, an Internet payment processor. Clickbank is the Internet's premier retailer for digitally delivered products (ebooks to software). They provide highly secure, scalable, and fraud resistant environment for e-commerce. So as a customer, you are definitely in safe hands. We've used them over the past few years and had no problems. They protect consumers and will refund unsatisfied buyers. If you would like to see a sample copy of Clickbank's Secure Payment Form and Terms of Sale when making a purchase, click here to review. They have a refund policy that you should read also. Downloading the software - Actually there were several downloads overall. Everything was safe and easy. To our knowledge, and according to SatelliteSoft there's no adware/spyware or any malicious virus to be concern with. So far they were right! We used a Toshiba Satellite laptop with a wireless connection for the download. It took approximately 15 - 20 minutes to complete the downloading process. We suggest installing a good anti-virus software for added protection, regardless of any website that you are downloading software, MP3 or other video/audio files. An unprotected computer can easily and quickly become corrupted by malicious viruses. This can slow a computer down and shut it down unexpectedly as well. Just because someone says downloading will be safe, its always best to be safer. Usability, Performance and Quality Usability - Following the downloading and installation instructions were easy for the most part. Only one thing wasn't exactly crystal clear but it wasn't a concern. Even a child could get through the process. There were perimeters to be set and the instructions and diagrams did very well explaining them. The guides gave us instructions how to use and setup the TVUPlayer, Ares and Satellite TV for PC players on our computer to view satellite stations. Our recommendation, use a broadband connection (DSL or High Speed Internet Connection) for excellent overall performance. A Wireless Connection will give a good performance, and 56k modem--forget it! You only get poor quality to say the least. SatelliteSoft expressed that a 56k modem can work with their product and it does, but only to a very limited extent! We've found when using a 56k modem to download movies and watch Satellite TV stations, it takes forever for the download to complete and many Internet TV channels didn't play. After reading the instructions further and contacting SatelliteSoft's technical support, we received a response within 24 hours. We found out that our anti-virus, which uses a firewall was blocking the software so we corrected the problem. See "Solutions To Working Behind Firewall" below. As we stated earlier, use a broadband connection for excellent quality/performance. Many people fail to do this and have complained about the poor video/audio streaming. A broadband connection provides excellent quality when watching TV stations. SatelliteSoft's Satellite TV for PC software proved to us that it provides excellent quality and performance. However, there's one strike against it... there isn't any 'Favorites' link to store favorite channels. Hopefully, this will be included in one of the upcoming free upgrades. We found that some stations still didn't play due to a large number of people watching the same program. When this happens simply try the station again later. There are instructions for this and for other minor problems. These are short instructions and guide, so don't worry about becoming a super Satellite TV tech. After familiarizing ourselves with the Ares player--a free software to watch movies and other video/audio files, searching and downloading movies, MP3 music videos and other files became easy. To our surprise there were unlimited number of movies, music and other files included in many different categories. Performance - Overall the performance got better, after we familiarized ourselves with the free TVUPlayer, Ares, VLC, TVAnts, Windows Media Player and Realplayer, including SatelliteSoft's Satellite TV for PC software (all part of the initial downloading process). REMEMBER! Using a Wireless or Broadband Connection creates better quality and performance. We were particularly impressed while watching movies and MP3 music videos, after downloading them to our players for quick easy playbacks. Movies such as the American Gangster, Deja Vu, Beowolf, Apocalypto, and videos such as Beyonce and many more were excellent. Quality - Overall the quality when viewing satellite TV and Radio stations, including Movies, Music Videos, etc., were great. However, we had to learn how to select the better quality (DVD-like) movies. Audio and video were excellent the majority of the times. The key is knowing which type of files to download and watch. There are many different types of files with resolution sizes to choose for a given movie title. Free Life Time Membership, Upgrades and Forum As Bugs Bunny would say, "That's not all folks"... SatelliteSoft gives free upgrades to its members, a lifetime membership that includes access to their forum. We received one free upgrade already, since our purchase back in October 2007. This gave us additional free Internt stations, as well as resolving problems we had encountered earlier when some stations didn't play--now they play. SatelliteSoft expressed it will continue to improve the software throughout the lifetime of the membership. The forum is a place to converse with others, even the more experienced. It's also place to ask questions, whether it's finding a particular event, show, improving your knowledge, or whatever, the forum can help you. What The Software Is and Isn't (The Truth) The truth is no Satellite TV software gives you true satellite TV across any Internet connection. That simply doesn't exist. Will it ever? Perhaps! Instead, you get the closet thing to Satellite TV with access to 1000s of channels world-wide. The key is getting a quality software that loads channels quickly and smoothly exceptionally well. That's where SatelliteSoft's Elite, Pro and Titanium comes into the picture. This is the software we found that will provide quality performance. The Bottom-line, you want the best overall audio/video quality and pricing, in order to fully enjoy this type of entertainment. The TV player, in this case, Sattellite TV for PC software does provide the quality you want on your desktop or laptop computer. Unfortunately, many Satellite TV software out there on the market don't provide this quality. Which explains why people have labeled many Satellite TV software as SCAMS. SatelliteSoft, developed their own Satellite TV for PC software, and it provides the best overall quality on the market today. But this is only true, if you take heed to all the system requirements, instructions and guidelines. We don't think this software is a scam. However, the sales page may be a little hyped. We've found that people are not understanding important areas of this software to make it work for them. Although the software doesn't necessarily do all the things people (individually) want it to do right now, it is improving. There are 1000s of live and recorded stations--how many live TV stations we couldn't possibly tell you. Some people have complained there were too many foreign and religious channels but, nevertheless, there were still a great many of English speaking TV and Radio stations available--even in foreign Countries. So the question remains... Can you really enjoy this software the way it is now? We say yes, and with the periodic FREE upgrades the software is still improving. As for the other people, it simply depends on what a person wants to see and hear. We enjoy watching movies, TV and Radio stations, music videos, news, sports, etc. However, we didn't put much emphasis on finding all types of sports. This is an area we will continue to work on and post our results here in the near future. That said... we've found that the software isn't perfect but again it's still improving with a life-time membership of free upgrades. We understand the software is still relatively new and needs to improve, but we also wanted to find out... ... Is this software a better buy for the money and over other softwares? The answer to this question, we feel is a BIG yes! Providing you want to experience the overall audio/video streaming quality. Considering what's available today, this software is the right choice. But then again, controversy has made this software questionable. After researching the Net, we found many people either refusing to except progress, the software itself, what it didn't do for them, or simply believed it shouldn't come with a price tag (non-users). That the TV player should come free because of the many free codec video players that exist on the market today. So people are claiming it's a scam because you are paying for free TV players. But we've found that's far from the truth and we were deeply concern about this before going into our review. You are not paying for the free TV Player software... they are bonuses and part of the package. SatelliteSoft added bonuses to centralize everything into one place, making everything easier for you to get quick access to and download everything you need in an organized convenient way. This is the ulterior motive what any software should do... make our personal and/or business lives more enjoyable, entertaining, easier, efficient, productive, less time consumption, and less human errors, etc. In our review of this Satellite TV software, we've concluded that the overall quality this software brings is very good. It's a complete entertainment center, meaning there isn't any one specific area that it caters to such as adult entertainment or sports. There are many categories offered, with the addition to the other free video/audio software players. You get all types of entertainment such as... Movies Sports
The software may not be excellent in some cases, but the overall programming is very good... it's new and improving, simply put. Depending on what software edition is being used, determines the number of stations that can be accessed. However, SatelliteSoft did say whatever the edition is used there will be some station that may not play, and there are explanations for this. We have researched other sites and found people who said they are watching many professional sports, so we know it true. It would be unfair to say that we experienced the same, at the time of this review. We have watched some sports channels but we reside in Philadelphia, PA, and haven't been so lucky as to find local stations and teams when using this Satellite TV software. However, we are still working on it. Note: Many people are using Satellite TV for PC to connect to their regular TVs at home. We have not gone that far in our review but will post more information regarding this in the near future. But we do know this... To use the software and enjoy 1000s of free Internet channels on your regular TV, you need a TV-Out Video Card (external USB or internal . However, an internal TV-Out Card is better and creates better streaming quality. In order to optimize the signal to your TV monitor, you need to check off the "Optimize TV-Output" feature. You will find this under "Options" in the drop-down menu. Watch Your Children There are kiddie shows, movies, cartoons and other entertainment for kids. However, there's another strike against the software. Children who use the software will have complete access to many adult movies and videos. They can access and watch them while on the Internet, or off by downloading the files. There is a category called Exotica. However, many of these adult videos and movies showed up while searching movies from other categories. There are a few ways around this. One, parents could install the software on a computer under a different user account and password protected. Or simply download kid video/audio files to their Windows Media Player, VLC or another player without giving the child complete access to any adult files. Overall, we particularly like the software, although you can get everything else for free, with exception to the Satellite TV for PC software and other software features. In turn, you get a software that...
Technical Support We had no problem here when getting both our questions answered on two different occasions. In fact, we receive both responses by email a day later. So it looks like SatelliteSoft officials really value their customers. If you have questions for the merchant, just click the image or link for any software edition of interest. After you've reached the merchant's site, go directly to the bottom of the page. You will see a customer support link, click on it and look for the non members link. MAC users should ask questions, since some of the TV players may not work well or at all. Our Conclusion We feel these products are pretty good and many people will be pleased. But if someone want, for instance only NFL football, we wouldn't recommend this software right now. The software does work and works very well. Each software edition provides a large number of Satellite TV stations, and in most cases, with excellent picture and sound quality. In fact, the software includes more Satellite Radio stations then WM and Sinus combined! There's no hardware to installed whatsoever, and no monthly subscription fee which makes it a better buy. Competitively, there are other software and ways to view satellite TV across the Internet--some free... some paid. We recommend this software for those who want to enhance their computer entertainment to a higher level, and receive an overall Satellite TV experience. System Requirements

If you have been experiencing the same problems and have firewall software install on your computer, you can do the following to resolve the problem... Solution: 1. Click FAQ here and scroll down the list of questions until you see "Why am I not able to perform searches using the software?"... 2. Click on the link that says "Here". At the top of the page, click on the "Guides" link. 3. Scroll down the page until you see "Firewalling" on the left side of your screen. Under it you will see the "Firewall Guides" link, click on it. 4. See the "Software Firewalls" heading. Now look for the name of the anti-virus software currently installed on your computer. Click the name of your anti-virus and follow the instructions. If you have Norton version 6 anti-virus software installed on your computer, follow the instructions below: NOTE: If you have Internet Explorer 6 currently installed on your computer, you must upgrade it to IE7 before continuing. If you don't know what version of IE you are using, do the following. 1. For Window OS, click your "Start" button at the bottom left of your screen. 2. Click "Control Panel". When the window appears double click the "Add or Remove Programs". You will not use this function to do anything but check your IE version. 3. Scroll down until you see "Windows Internet Explorer". It should indicate a number right after it. If it is a version 6, you need to upgrade to version 7. If you have version 7 already, go back to read your firewall instructions. This should remedy your firewall from preventing certain TV stations from loading/viewing on your computer. Be sure to check your System Requirements before downloading. TIP 2 Problem: Experiencing blurred images and problems loading/playing videos from websites, with MSN Dial-up Accelerator installed. Solution: If you previously installed the MSN Dial-up Accelerator, set it to Normal. This should improve your images and videos on websites. When going to the Satellite TV for PC - Elite Edition website a streaming video should play automatically. If the video doesn't play, go to the bottom right corner of your screen. You will see icons. Look for a small round blue icon and hover your mouse over it. A small window will appear showing the Connection Speed and Accelerator Setting. If it's not set to Normal, simply right click on the icon, hover over or click Accelerator in the menu then set it to Normal. You can change this setting to Fast or Fastest anytime you want a page to load quicker. Only do this if you are not interested in loading images and videos faster. Just remember when set to Fast or Faster, your videos may appear corrupted and/or you videos may stop-play repeatedly.
