Questions raised by Carbon Good Guys, for consumers who care enough to change, as to big businesses commitment on reducing direct carbon emissions (CO2) in order to reverse climate change and stop global warming from changing our world forever.

The United Kingdom, far from being disadvantaged by its seemingly imprisoned island status, is more than capable of producing for its inhabitants and does not need Ministers pushing through policies benefiting Global Corporations, disguising them as requirements for Britain's continued growth and survival.
Edinburgh-based Aquamarine Power worked with 27 different businesses in Orkney and Caithness, Scotland , through the complex process of installing its prototype Oyster wave machine device on the sea bed in Atlantic waters near Stromness, the first in the world.
Sainsbury's have been given top position on Carbon Good Guys league tables, based upon their environmental aims ad achievements. Find out what Sainsbury's are doing to help reduce their Carbon dioxide ( CO2) emissions.
But that is not all; controlling humanity's food source is only a part of Monsanto's ambitions. To quote Bob Shapiro when Chief Executive, " It is truly easy to make a great deal of money dealing with primary needs: food, shelter, clothing". What you are seeing said Robert Farley of Monsanto in 1998 after describing its purchase of seed companies around the world, "is not just a consolidation of seed companies, it's really a consolidation of the entire food chain".

A sense of well being is portrayed to us with terms like 'corporate social responsability' . If you still have doubts as to where global corporations true intentions and values lie, then consider this example that attacks our very survival, the food chain. 'The little Earth book by James Bruges' published by Alastair Sawday ( now replaced by the 'Big Earth Book' who have kindly given Carbon Good Guys permission to reproduce) reported the following under 'The Terminator - force the poor to buy our seed'

It was at one time the norm for a family to have one provider going out to earn a crust to provide for the family. Then a new trend started to emerge with both husband and wife going out to earn to give that family just a few more luxuries and a 'better' standard of living by choice. Now it is the norm for both man and women to be working just to 'tread water' as living costs have caught up and canceled out that perceived benefit. Consumers have to be rewarded in real lasting ways, for the changes they are prepared to take to save themselves money and reduce Carbon dioxide emissions.

Regardless of creed, colour, denomination, nationality age or gender, we all have one common denominator and that is Planet Earth, that we live on and perhaps take for granted.Carbon dioxide (CO2), threatens that existence with Global warming. Like children we safely snuggle under that blanket or duvet of our beds, finally awakening from our nights sleep, expecting that our planet, our home, is as we left it the night before. But for one moment, look through the other end of the telescope, through the eyes of cosmonaut Vladimir Shatalov who said while looking down from space "beyond air there is emptiness, coldness and darkness. The boundless blue sky, which gives breath and protects us from the endless black and death, is but an infinitesimally thin film. How dangerous it is to threaten even the smallest part of this gossamer, this conserver of life".
Virgin Trains together with Virgin Atlantic have made it to the top of Carbon Good Guys league tables for travel. Find out why.
Governments are often short sighted in their actions, unable or unwilling to take that giant step out on a limb. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair recently said governments are too busy firefighting to truly make a difference.
Global Warming is now a widely recognised fact within the science community and outwith. With so much at stake for ourselves and generations not yet here, we need to focus attention on who are the Carbon Good Guys and more importantly, who are not.
Carbon Good Guys new consumer website, has provided carbon emissions tables for each country around the globe comparing CO2 level increase or decreases for the last 48 months.
China has over taken the U.S in toping the league table, while Norway has reduced its Carbon dioxide emission by 50% ahead of the Copenhagen talks in December to discuss international limits on emissions.
The investment opportunities in climate change depend significantly on the price of energy. The surge in oil prices to more than $145 a barrel last year made many alternative-energy sources economically viable and conservation measures compelling. Carbon’s impact on corporate bottom lines dwindled when oil prices collapsed, though. - Institutional Investor August 2009
James Lovelock, respected scientist, who has warned for several decades now about the dangers of climate change brought about by Carbon Dioxide emissions.
Based on 190 Days of School in the UK per year.
Being driven to school produces approximately 1.1 lb of Carbon dioxide per mile travelled ( depending on your car ). A return trip of 1 mile each way, would produce per year ( for one young person per car ).. - 209 lb of Carbon dioxide (2mile p/day ) If you walked or cycled to school, you would produce approximately. - 7.6 lb of Carbon dioxide (2mile p/day ) So, provided it is safe and convenient to walk or cycle to school, you could be reducing your carbon footprint by over 200lb of C02 per year. You would have to walk/cycle to school for 27½ years to produce the same amount of carbon dioxide, as you do in a car for 1 year, driving a two mile round trip per day.
British scientists have warned that UN negotiations aimed at tackling climate change are based on substantial underestimates of what it will cost to adapt to its impacts and were produced too quickly without including key sectors like energy, manufacturing and ecosystems.

Of the $2.6 trillion in funds pledged by the Group of 20 nations to revive their faltering economies, roughly $400 billion is earmarked for alternative-energy projects, according to Cleantech. - August 2009 Institutional Investor
Scotland is negotiating with Middle Eastern investors to develop an offshore wind-generating capacity almost equal to the total electricity-generating capacity of the UK.

Certain politicians and CEOs are trying to talk Congress out of imposing either a cap-and-trade system or tax on Carbon Emissions. Nations will meet in December in Copenhagen to negotiate international limits on emissions. America has never signed such a protocol, with leaders worldwide saying that the Copenhagen talks will fail if the U.S. does not enact legislation to clean up its act. President Barack Obama may be that instrument of change.

Lakes could discharge a whopping 50 billion tons of methane.
COD CAUGHT off Scotland is being sent on a 10,000-mile round trip to China and back again to be filleted for supermarkets, shops and fish suppers. The fish is caught in the North Atlantic, deep frozen, shipped to China for processing by workers earning less than £1 a day before being refrozen and returned to Scotland.
Pertamina could be the first oil company, state or independent, to become a renewable energy company.
The Indonesian Government has contracted Pertamina, the nations oil company, to develop 6,800 megawatts of geothermal-generating capacity. The country has 500 volcanoes, 131 of which are active.
Origin Oil, Inc is developing a breakthrough technology that will transform algae, the most promising source of renewable oil, into a true competitor to petroleum.
You need oxygen to live. You can live without food for 60 days, without water for seven days, but without oxygen, you won't make it past two minutes.

But, what about the quality of your oxygen ?
Carbon Good guys have produced carbon emission league tables for the largest companies in Britain ( to be followed by other countries ). Discover what your bank or supermarket is doing to reduce its CO2 emissions. Who is best to take your cash.
Mayor Amschel Rochschild in 1790 stated "Let me issue and control a nations money and I care not who writes the laws". Large corporations seem to have fallen at the first fence in their abuse of carbon offset credits and the selling of EU provided carbon credits in order to satisfy their shareholders and financiers.
Governments are often short sighted in their actions, unable or unwilling to take that giant step out on a limb, even though climate change effects the very planet we sleep on tonight. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair recently said governments are too busy firefighting to truly make a difference. ‘It is frightening with the day-to-day hustle and bustle of government how little time is spent on the major issues such as carbon,’ he said. For example, the UK’s environment minister would come in for a meeting with him for perhaps two hours a month if he was lucky. The Cabinet would work out some short-term project and say: ‘OK,let’s do this or that.’

Here at Carbon Good Guys™, we intend to have all major companies shown on our league tables, with rankings based on their real participation in Carbon dioxide (C02) reduction measures, whether that is a response to the Carbon Disclosure Project or investment in new meaningful technologies, or initiatives to change the way they have operated and lessen their impact on world climate change. We intend to have all 'mannikins' shown in the shop window, naked if necessary and cloth them with their environmental attire as this becomes available for each business. You will then be better informed as to who is really putting their money where their mouth is, or is spinning you a yarn with clever advertising. Climate change or corporate change?
The 'movers and shakers', sitting behind closed doors, play a huge key role in controlling countries and governments, positioning huge volumes of money at their disposal to protect and enhance the wealth of western creditors.
All countries are seeking to invest in renewable energy to reverse climate change and give their countries security.
History has shown that apart from legislation, consumer power is the only way to change a companies trading ethics. As consumers we must be prepared to act responsibly and perhaps pay slightly more for that item sourced from more ethically and environmentally sustainable suppliers.

Don't make a drama out of a crisis they said, but some out there are make songs and jokes about global warming and climate change. The cheek of it!
