Google says web users are too stupid for semantics

This pisses me off. I think Peter Norvig needs to adjust this opinion.

HTML will never take off, look at all those tags.

Never mind XML, too complicated. And that XAML thing, forget it now.

You dont need to know everything about a good technology for it to succeed.

People use email everyday, knowing nothing about smtp servers.

What do the general masses really know about http, uri's, keywords and so forth. The standards are there for tools, and applications. The semantic application will make it work, not the people.

Fair enough, its going to take a while, probably 5-10 years, before the intelligent applications really start.

the big picture is intelligent apps, not stupid people.

It reminds me of:

This Episodes Thought

For RSS to continue to succeed and for it to move forward. We have to get what is already out there, sorted out. For example, sometimes the interpretation and the inconsistencies are what makes it tremendously hard to do something "smart".
Therefore I will start a special section here, called Named and Shamed.

There have been a few others named and shamed in previous posts, but now a whole section will be devoted to it.

Named and Shamed

Plazoo irritatingly adds the <link> url into the <source url=""> attribute instead of the actual feed location.

Why can't Flock read my feed? My feed is standard and conforms to the standard?

Why is there not a "Google BlogSearch" link on the Google Toolbar?

A few notable links in the feed world.
