Sat, 02 Sep 2006 09:29:54 +0200 Title: EEYANJAE a.k.a Yung Berry GordyDescription: Eeyanjae: My name is Eeyanjae aka Doctor Detroit. Shit I have been rapping for over 20years now. I got four projects out. My first one I dropped in 1996 or 1997, was called “ RealWit It”. I dropped another ET “Money Comes First”. The album “Str8 No Chaser” gotput out a few years ago. I got a lot of love on the radio, big ups FM 98 WJLB. Ain’t going to mention no other radio stations, but you know. I have been in a lot of magazines such as“Murder Dog”, “Out of Music”, and “Tomorrow”. I did a video for Dalmer Chrysler but wenot going to get credit for this. We were the first ones to bring hip-hop to the automotive world, see what I’m saying and slowly after, that’s when Snoop Dog was doing commercials withLee I. Coka. Ludacris got a Pontiac commercial but we were the first ones to do the ****. Musichostnetwork: So what song of yours are they playing on the radio now? Eeyanjae: Um the song they playing off the radio right now is on the mix tape, The Renaissance, called “Do You Believe”. It’s a tale about basically talking to a female andwanting to know if she is in your corner, “you going to either be my engine or my anger, yougoing to help me or hurt me”, you feel what I’m saying. Musichostnetwork: Yeah! Eeyanjae: “You either going to be my wife or out of my life”, point blank. The next single that is about to play on the radio is called “Ice”. That’s no. 15 on the mix tape. Y’all can check that**** out. I had about maybe 5 or 6 songs played here on the radio in constant rotation like “Str8No Chaser”. The **** was on the radio, road player, sunshine, you know. Videos coming next.I got a lot of connects out of town in LA, New York, and Atlanta. Musichostnetwork: What about tours, like do you do local event? Eeyanjae: I have done mini tours in Canada; opening for 2 Live Crew, Royce 59, Boss, um a bunch of mutha****a’s, you know. We have done a lot of different shows in a lot of differentPlaces, you know what I’m saying. My home, where we mainly based at is the C-Note Lounge. That’s like the Hip-Hop Shop and the longest running open mic in Detroit right now, you knowwhat I’m saying. When the Hip-Hop Shop was around, the C-Note was around so it’s kind oflike my foundation where I really got to open up at and express my self on stage. So that’s like home. Musichostnetwork: Okay! Eeyanjae: Coming after the mix tape is the album called “ Under the Influence” and that’s the one everybody need to look out for. I got snippets and **** on the mix tape. Listen to the mixtape and at the end of it, I also modeled for Al Wisson. You know, but just look for that “ Underthe Influence” it’s coming soon nigga!Checkout my music right here on Musichostnetwork.com just click on Eeyanjae Musichostnetwork: Alright, bet!Interveiwed by: Kenyatta EvansEditor: Kellie Green

Tue, 26 Jun 2007 19:39:49 +0200 Its an exciting time for the 9Lies crew.
The pre-album release mini tour, that has seen us travel the length and breadth of Northern Ireland has now ended : (
But oddly enough its not all doom and gloom, because the Behind It All album is now available digitaly across the globe from iTunes and may other digital outlets this also coincides with availability in 2,500 record stores in the USA!
Our debut albums has already had 5 different tracks played on at least six Major Northern Irish radio stations and a vast arrey of International terrestrial and satellite stations!
These include the tracks known as 'Slippin Away', which got a welcomed spin on 'Cool Fm 97.4' before the water shed despite the lyrics 'Ahh Let me **** all over you' still being included, DOH! We also had the title track from the album, 'Behind It All' on Downtown Radio, thanks to DJ Johnny Hero who came to see us play LIVE in Newry, he then went on to describe the song as none less than 'Brilliant!' it was also played across the USA on the Indie Limelight radio show followed by 'the Gap' on Sky, and leaving those three up tempo demons on the back burner for a moment, Radio Ulster Broadcast the Ballady 'Too Late' describing us as 'A crusade as much as a rock band' for our stand against POP PAP! But I call that just pure sanity! and last but not least 'Blind' has had several spins now on U105 fm.
Meanwhile back at 9Lies HQ, everyone's getting fired up about some new songs that are not even on this album, and on my part that focus is on a great track called 'We are One' your in for a treat! for Stoogie (Stephen McAuley) and Chris, its got to be 'Heaven is here' and I think Dave and Nick are right behind the aptly named 'Truth will Out' Do you feel album 2 coming on??? or a Film sound track??? stay tuned!!
We have been in the studio since september with these and more new songs with top Irish music producer Gary Aitken So all will be revealed soon.
It doesn't get much better than this Ted!
We've decided to try and make an effort to pop in here whenever we can to have a chat with you lot.
But as you'd except, with the rock'n'roll lifestyle, this might not always be possible.
But please feel free to use the 9 Lies forum for whatever you want to chat about, and visit our home on the web at http://www.9Lies.net to be kept right upto date with the band.
Hope to speak to you all soon!

Wed, 30 Apr 2008 18:06:09 +0200 R.E.M. Will Revisit 'Early Days' On Summer Tour
After delighting fans with rarities such as "Second Guessing" and "Animal" at its performances thus far this year, R.E.M. is promising to dig further into its vaults for its return to the road on May 23, Billboard.com has learned.
"[For] the last Dublin shows [in June and July 2007], we went back and learned a whole bunch of stuff from the early days we hadn't played in a long time, just to see where we came from, and it was pretty inspiring to play those," guitarist Peter Buck tells Billboard.com.
"We're obviously going to play the new record ['Accelerate']; we've been playing nine songs off it, which is 28 minutes or something, so there's a lot of space for us to do stuff from all through our career."
That early material is in keeping with the harder-rocking nature of "Accelerate," which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 (and No. 1 in the U.K.) in April. Buck says that playing songs from 2004's commercially disappointing "Around the Sun" live, in fact, helped steer the direction of the new set.
"I think Mike [Mills] particularly was saying, 'God, I wish we could get back and record ['Around the Sun'] right now,'" Buck recalls. "I had no interest in making another record the way we'd been working -- book eight months in a studio and see what happens. I never liked that. I always complained and I always suggested that we work quicker and more spontaneously. The other guys [Mills and frontman Michael Stipe] weren't into it.
"I think maybe the reception ['Around the Sun'] got kind of shocked them and made them realize ... I was right, we can't work like this any longer."
And if Buck has his way, R.E.M. will never take the long, exacting route again.
"I can't imagine ever going back to the way we were working prior [to] this," says the guitarist, who already has "a ton of songs" written for R.E.M.'s next album. "I think everyone agrees that this record is really a strong record and it's strong because of the way we approached it. So when we start making the next record, I think this is the way to at least start doing it."
R.E.M. plays in North America -- including the Sasquatch! Music Festival in Quincy, Wash. -- until late June and will spend the summer in Europe starting in early July. The group's "Austin City Limits" episode debuts on May 24 on PBS outlets.
Lennon's 'Give Peace a Chance' Lyrics To Be Sold
When John Lennon gave Gail Renard the scribbled lyrics to "Give Peace a Chance" in 1969, he told the teen to hold on to the piece of paper.
"It will be worth something someday," predicted Lennon, who was in the midst of his famous eight-day "bed-in" with his new wife, Yoko Ono, in Montreal.
She did, and it is. Christie's plans to auction the lyric sheet in July as the centerpiece in its rock and pop memorabilia sale. The words to the enduring peace anthem are expected to fetch more than $400,000.
The lyrics will go on public view July 5 in London and will be auctioned July 10. They will also be available for viewing by appointment in New York on May 7-10.
"I think the interest is there because this is certainly one of the most recognizable and influential of John Lennon's solo compositions," said Helen Hall, head of the popular culture department at Christie's South Kensington. "It's important not just as one of Lennon's most famous peace anthems, it's also the fact that it was written at such a historical event."
Few believe the lyric is an example of great songwriting. The Beatles had moved beyond their cute moptop phase and their psychedelic infatuation, but were close to breaking apart as Lennon, heavily influenced by Ono, became a utopian peace activist.
Determined to focus world attention on the war in Vietnam, the newlyweds moved into suite 1742 at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel and invited the world's media to come interview them.
Renard, a teenage fan who sneaked past security guards, was among the first to arrive. She befriended Lennon, helped look after Ono's young daughter, Kyoto, and made copies of the song Lennon wrote during the "bed-in" so their friends could read the lyrics and record it in the room.
Renard, now a British-based TV writer and presenter, developed a lifelong friendship with Lennon, who helped launch her journalism career by placing an article she wrote about the bed-in in the Beatles Monthly magazine. She is also selling some rare photographs of herself with Lennon and Ono.
The actual recording of "Give Peace a Chance" took about five minutes. It became a worldwide hit after it was touched up in the studio. A number of famous guests, including Timothy Leary, Allen Ginsberg and Tommy Smothers, sang on the record, which went to No. 14 on the Billboard charts.
It was released as a song by the Plastic Ono Band, signaling Lennon's growing disenchantment with the Beatles, particularly longtime songwriting partner Paul McCartney.
The song is a simple, casual affair recorded without any of the Beatles' typically high level of musicianship and artistry, but the phrase "Give Peace a Chance" has entered the popular lexicon, surviving long after Lennon's death in 1980.
Hall said it ranks with "Imagine" as one of Lennon's most popular songs. She said the prices paid for Beatles' lyrics continue to rise as a new generation discovers the works of Lennon and McCartney.
"It's interesting to see the reach the Beatles have," she said. "We're seeing a lot of buyers in their 30s and 40s who didn't grow up listening to them."

Sun, 23 Dec 2007 17:40:12 +0100 A last minute change to the show, previously scheduled for 8:00pm on Wednesday 5th July, rearranged because of the World Cup semi-final game. The heat was on! It had been thirty-two degrees, the hottest day of the year so far and whew, it was a hot night in more ways than one! The heat played havoc with the guitar tunings, the audience were melting and the performers had to contend with extra heat from the stage spotlights, but everyone hung in there for the duration of the show.
The opening featured guest performer October rocked our socks off, accompanied by her sturdy bass player, having played Glastonbury's massive audiences, she's right at home on the acoustic stage and for that matter the Girls With Guitars one.
Next up, new comer, the beautiful Carrie Tree with tender melodies and haunting vocals, reminiscent of Mindy Smith, she has travelled the world writing songs from Sad Deserts Sky about the plight of the aborigines, to Inside Her Tears written in a pilgrimage town on the river Ganges, and Early Morning Train Ride written on a train journey from London to Brighton. We hope she'll be a frequent guest at GWG in the future.
Catherine Rushton followed on with an array of songs penned in Nashville, Moving On Faith, the tear-jerking When He Holds Her and the already successful "Read My Lips" which has just been recorded by Lucie Diamond, soon to be a hit (we hope, go Catherine!)
After a well-earned break, where everyone escaped the heat momentarily to catch a wiff of a breeze by the old watermill on the river, we were floored by the huge smokey jazzy-bluesey tones of the gorgeous Lotte Mullan with her band. Her vocals are both sweet and raw, her songwriting is exemplary and her boys did a great job of backing her up, complimenting her style to perfection. Watch out for this little girl, she's gonna be big soon.
It was not only July the 4th, American Independence Day, but also the third anniversary of Girls With Guitars (UK) and our UK founder and host Jae Avery, accompanied on stage by Jeffrey Backus on twelve-string, lifted our spirits with I Believe, then slapped us right between the eyes with her powerful political ballad Stop The World, declaring that Blair and Bush are at Sunday confession, then resolved by getting a real groove on with the funky Forever With U2.
Finally, the beautiful and tiny but very talented Luthea Salom took the stage and captivated us all with her songs and stories of closets and new year's eve and got us all thinking with her thought provoking political rant called "Accidents". Seems it's the job of the songwriter to make a stand and vent the world's voices about world events, I wonder who's listening?
