We all reach points in life when we think that everything has plateaued. We can't push any farther processionally in our careers and because this other areas of our life might seem stalled. Promotions don't just grow on trees at most companies so it's tough climbing the corporate ladder, not to mention all the other demands placed on you outside the office from your family and friends. You think wouldn't earn a MBA degree just push you over the edge to the next level in your career. Nevertheless how on earth would you ever find the time to make it happen? Most work places aren't too keen on granting leave of absence for education, and of course quitting is pretty much out of the question unless you win the lottery. How can you progress your education and still support your families financial needs?

Distance learning MBA programs as a solution : So just when you didn't think you could have your cake and eat it to, along comes distance learning MBA degrees. You can keep your current day job, and be able to study towards your MBA at the same time. No need to goto classes at a campus every week, you study when, and where you want on your terms. You're able to pursue your career goals and enhance your education on your terms not some high priced college or university.

One of the best features of an online distance MBA course is that there are no hard and fast schedules for classes. You're able to complete course work at your own pace, and can move faster or slower at different points in the year when it suits your schedule. Exams can be written when you're ready for it, and if life becomes to busy to manage your course work at particular times you can always put off exams to a later date when time permits.

While some people may tell you that a distance MBA program doesn't hold the same prestige as a conventional program at a brick and mortar college they're mistaken. Enrolling and completing an online MBA program is in many ways an even better option for your education than a conventional offline degree. Because distance learning allows you to enroll in your degree program while at the same time working full time to support yourself and your family. While financial support is available for most distance learning programs, the benefit of being able to work and study usually allows most students to avoid taking on large volumes of debt to graduate. This means you can enjoy the financial benefits of your education faster.

Success in MBA Entrance Exam in India is also no cake walk. You need in-depth knowledge, analytical mind, sharp memory and above all, systematic planning and preparation. Evidently that the candidates cannot and should not attempt preparation for his MBA Entrance Test overnight. Since the competition is amongst the best available talent from all disciplines, meticulous and long term preparation are required to get admitted to the MBA program. Although the syllabi in the admission/entrance test differ with university to university, there are certain common aspects that appear in most of the entrance test, CAT, XAT, MAT, XLRI, SNAP and MBA Entrance Exams conducted by State Universities in one form or the other. These aspects include tests on quantitative aptitude, reasoning, intelligence, comprehension, case analysis, relationships, word power, synonyms, antonyms, general knowledge/awareness, etc. It is therefore, essential that the candidates start preparing well in advance on all the above aspects. If one can get hold of previous year's papers or at least the pattern, this would go a long way in guiding the candidates to prepare properly for the test. Here are some tips to prepare on important aspects which are common to most of the MBA entrance examinations in India:

(1) Quantitative Aptitude: A candidate seeking admission to MBA programme is expected to have aptitude for basic and elementary accounting as well as the knack of solving the simple arithmetic problems. This is one of the areas in the admission test which, if properly prepared and practiced, is likely to put the candidate ahead of others, as one can hope to score even 100% marks in this part. There may be several types of questions that may form part of quantitative aptitude test. The first categories could be simple arithmetic problems including profit and loss, percentages, ratio, averages, partnership, etc. Such problems involve simple calculations and with a little practice and basic aptitude, can be solved correctly. The second category of questions could involve multiplication or divisions in 5 to 6 figures or decimals. It may be quite time-consuming if the candidates start actually attempting the entire calculations. Since the candidates are required to work against time it is not advisable to waste time on such calculations. With a little practice, the candidates can easily eliminate most of the choices straightaway to arrive at the correct answer even without any calculations. This could be achieved if the candidates look at all the choices carefully before actually attempting the calculations. Another category of questions may be directed at testing only the intelligence of the candidate and not his/her ability to calculate. There maybe other questions aimed at testing the common sense of the candidates. The entire area of quantitative aptitude, therefore, needs constant practice to calculate quickly with accuracy. More practice is also essential for the candidates to gain confidence in this part of the test. Even if a candidate does not have the basic aptitude for figure-work, he/she can make up for this deficiency by regular practice and a lot of hard work. It is strongly recommended that the candidates practice and attempt all the questions on quantitative.

Are you considering going back to school to get your MBA? Is their one program that is better than another when it comes to online programs? There most certainly is, but it is hard to distinguish between the best programs and the not so great programs that are out there. It is impossible to put a full measurement on each program, but it is good to know which ones seem to get the best results for students.

You need to consider the programs as to what you are looking for, and how they are going to fit your needs. Online certified MBA Schools are out there and there are quite a few of them. If you are considering finishing your schooling online, then you should consider checking out one of the following schools.

Westwood College - This is a nationally accredited school that is not only great for a MBA, but also is quite affordable.
Capella University - Also accredited and offers the largest amount and variety of MBA programs.
U 21 Global (Singapore) - This school is affiliated with many other schools worldwide.
Grand Canyon University - Offering 26 different online MBA programs to choose from and has a very strong reputation.
University of Cincinnati - Known as one of the top 25 research universities in the United States.
Columbian Southern University - Offers 13 online post education programs for you to choose from.
University of Phoenix - Very well known and offers around 20 different MBA programs for you to choose from.
North Central University (NCU)
University of London
Tiffin University Accredited
Regardless of which college you decide to choose for your MBA you should consider your personal needs before you make your choice. Some online colleges are going to work out better for one type of person where another type of person might succeed at a different school. If you like to work fast and get through classes quicker, then choose an online college that offers an accelerated MBA program. If you do not like to be rushed, then go with a traditional MBA program.
Before getting to a MBA degree program, you are required to sit for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). This has created confusion among us when some of the accredited business schools accept students without GMAT. Do you actually need to take GMAT in the first place? Generally, you should know the real objective of GMAT which is widely used as a measuring aptitude test for candidates and it is also the main criteria for admission into an accredited business study program.

Basically, there are certain reasons some accredited business schools does not offer GMAT for MBA applicants. Instead, candidates are required to take some entry examinations administered by the, these business schools. The entry examination are perfectly customized based on the needs of the distinctive business majors. For example, Swiss Business School (SBS) does not require a GMAT score because of they offer an internal entrance test similar to the GMAT. This also applies to some of accredited online business schools.

Due to some circumstances, GMAT is not required if your undergraduate degree is from a university which the school is familiar with (especially when these schools are in the same country). If you are applying for an online business course program from internationally accredited universities such as Durham Business School (UK), TiasNimbas Business School (Netherlands-Germany), Carlos III University of Madrid (Spain) and other well-known accredited business schools; they will review your application and transfer possible credits from your previous undergraduate degree program into your new MBA degree program.

In fact, there also cases where GMAT is not necessary and there is no alternative entry exam if you have few years of related working experiences. The accredited business schools assess your application based on your employment history, undergraduate records and finally - letters of recommendation. Here, you may apply for a GMAT exemption at the Syracuse University from New York, which has an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited MBA program.

If you want to be at the absolute top of your game when it comes to the fields of management, entrepreneurship, marketing, communication, finance, human resources, or corporate strategy, you definitely need to get a MBA degree. By teaching the advanced theories and guiding candidates through their practical applications, those enrolled in this program learn to become the most productive individuals in their respective fields. And because this, those who graduate from the program are a select breed.

Nevertheless if there are any among these special individuals who really stand out and can be considered the cream of the crop, they are most probably those enrolled in a special program called the Executive MBA or EMBA. This programmed is catered to the educational needs of managers and executives, and, hence is more rigorous and only accepts candidates of exceptional quality. The candidates of the EMBA usually have about 10 years more experience than the typical MBA candidate.

Just like in normal MBA courses, the GMAT or Graduate Management Admission Test is one of the primary considerations for admission into the program. Besides the candidate's background and achievements, the GMAT tests whether the individual is suited for the amount of coursework and the intellectual demands of the program. And in the training of future top executives, this is absolutely vital.

The EMBA allows for the student to earn a MBA or similar graduate degree in two years or less while working full time. Participants come from various fields, that include corporations, nonprofit and government, while at the same time representing a variety of industries. Even though the number of Executives MBA degrees increased over the years, they are still quite the minority. Because hey, not all of us were made to be leaders, right?

Online MBA programs are a relatively new delivery format, even in the USA. However, there are now (mid 2001) over 100 online and distance-learning MBA programs by American business schools. With this sudden proliferation, rankings for these programs are still difficult to determine. The two that stand out, mainly as a result of the reputation of their parent schools are those at Duke (Fuqua) and Indiana. Duke still has the edge, and the price tag to match, with fees at nearly $100,000 for 2001. In 2000 it was estimated that 5,000 students enrolled in virtual MBA programs and this figure has been predicted to rise to 50,000 in 2002.

Some Internet MBA programs are entirely virtual (such as the University of Baltimore or Colarado State) while others include a certain amount of class contact time (Pace University and Portland State). There are over 100 MBA schools in the USA, which offer online MBA programs. Taking an MBA online means the business school’s country is less important and MBA schools based in other countries also provide online MBAs and distance learning MBAs.

Unlike graduates of medical schools and law schools, there is no licensing exam required to practice business in the United States. In addition, the quality of accredited schools offering MBA degrees varies tremendously. This is a degree you can obtain part-time in 4 years, in an executive program in 1 year, via correspondence courses, and from schools with near 100% acceptance rates. As a result, the value of your MBA degree is directly related to the prestige of the university and business school which grants it. A recent study of the value of MBA programs concluded that “if you don’t get into a leading business school, the economic value of the degree is really quite limited.” [1] The study examined consultants at McKinsey & Company and investment bankers at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and found that those without MBA’s performed as well, or better, than business school graduates.

The fallacy of the study was that it did not recognize that it is much harder to get such a job without an MBA degree. Intellectual horsepower and potential – rather than business knowledge – is the primary criterion top consulting firms and investment banks look for. If someone possesses a Ph.D. in economics from MIT or a JD from Harvard – quite common at such firms – then that obviously serves as a more than adequate intellectual proxy for even a top two-year MBA. The required curriculum at most business schools consists of courses such as finance, accounting, statistics, organizational behavior, strategy, economics, communications and technology. Schools may have a larger or smaller set of “core” courses, and many give these subjects different names. But overall, MBA programs have more similarities with one another than they do differences, and most of the same subjects are taught from the same textbooks, using many of the same cases.

The MBA coursework is best learned in an online environment or method. Many people in business administration field are motivated to seek an MBA to advance in their careers. A lot of firms, business, and corporation are even willing to pay for their employees who wish to acquire an MBA as they work. Online MBA programs are offered in a lot of distance learning centers. Some of these universities are the University of Phoenix Online, Benedictine University, DeVry University, Colorado Technical University Online, Walden University, and South University. Let's check out each of these schools and what their online MBA degrees have to offer.

University of Phoenix Online : The University of Phoenix requires the student to have a computer, a phone, and an internet service provider.
