If you have ever worked with a pay-per-click advertising system, you know how quickly the costs of promoting your products can add up. Even using supposedly "free" methods can get expensive if you wind up investing in software or training courses designed to help teach you to promote your products. Fortunately, there are several different techniques you can use to get visitors to your site:

1. Use Articles to Your Advantage

Using articles as a means of product promotion is often misunderstood in the world of internet marketing. After all, you likely are not allowed to promote your product directly in an article - so how can you possibly profit from this method of promotion?

The real key to using articles to your advantage is to use them to promote your standing as an expert in your niche. For example, if you are selling a product on plucking nose hairs, do not write an article on "Why You Should Buy My Nose Hair Tweezers".

Instead, write about different tweezing techniques or offer advice on the best way to manage unruly nose hairs. This way, when readers click on the sales page link in your resource box, they will feel confident that they are working with a real expert on the subject.

2. Incorporate Web Video

Creating a video file and embedding it on your site sounds a heck of a lot more complicated than it really is. There are dozens of programs on the market today that make it easy for you to create, edit and upload video files using a traditional video camera or a webcam installed on your computer. In fact, there are even some free options you can use to create screen capture videos to use on your sites.

However, why go to all the hassle of using web video on your site? Internet marketers are fairly well indoctrinated into the long form sales letter approach that is often used to sell products, but many "outsiders" are not. Visitors to your "Widget" sales page might be wary about buying from a long page of text if they aren't able to figure out whether there's a real person behind it or not. Using web video gives your visitors a face that they can relate to, making you much more likely to close the sale.

3. Work with Others

What is the fastest way to gain access to a list of over 100,000 subscribers? It is not to build your own - it has to work with an established marketer with a list of this size! This type of deal - typically called a "joint venture" - involves contacting marketers whose products are complimentary (not directly competitive) to yours. Together, you can work out the specifics of a deal in which his or her subscribers receive some sort of exclusive benefit for your product, in exchange for the legwork of sending out the promotion.

If you are looking to set up this type of promotion, do not go about it haphazardly. Research potential joint venture partners and contact them with personalized messages describing exactly how their subscribers will benefit from your product. Be respectful of their time and understanding if they are not able to help you. Eventually, you are sure to find someone who is a perfect match for your product and you will reap the rewards of working together to promote your products.

Who was not told as a child that it is better to give than to receive? At the time, we might have thought that this only referred to birthday and holiday gifts, but this old adage is just as applicable now that we are adults, especially when it comes to business networking.

If you have been to a networking event, you have probably met individuals who only want to talk about themselves. They have unfortunately mastered the "it's all about me" mode of communication." They will corner you to tell you about what they do and what type of leads they are seeking, never asking you anything about yourself. Meanwhile, your mind drifts elsewhere as you try to plan your escape from their clutches. These same people will also be the first ones to email or call you, not to ask how they can be of assistance to you, but rather to obtain contacts or introductions to others. Are they kidding?

What these "takers" have forgotten is that networking is a two-way street. It is not about selfishly achieving the goal of finding that "direct fit" with the product or service that you provide. Rather, networking is the selfless art of facilitating introductions to help others.

Yes, networking is all about giving, and not always about receiving. However, there is a lot to be gained in the process of networking. By helping others connect, you contribute to a world of concentric circles that can spawn many new connections. In addition, you might just be surprised how your generosity turns into successful leads for yourself. Think of this process as "networking karma."

For those who continue to wear "networking blinders," only thinking of how others can help them, they are missing many, many opportunities beyond their immediate sphere of influence. So, at your next networking event, keep in mind what you learned long ago about giving and receiving as you meet others, and watch how your connections grow.

If you have been looking into starting your own franchise business, you will want to read this before moving to the next step. "This assurance comes after an attack - blamed on separatist Muslim militants - that killed 16 policemen in the western region of Xinjiang.

A spokesman for the organizers said preparations had been made to meet all conceivable threats at Olympic venues.

Meanwhile China has apologized for the beating of two Japanese journalists.

The journalists, a reporter and a photographer, were detained near the site of Monday's attack in Kashgar.

Police held them for two hours and punched them, they said.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gan told a senior diplomat at the Japanese embassy in Beijing that China regretted the incident, Kyodo News agency reported.

Officials and police in Kashgar also apologized for the incident, but accused the two men of breaking rules, Xinhua news agency said.

China is working to play down any threat to the Games in the wake of Monday's attack. "

Boston Marathon has a very long and unique history. When the Olympics were revived in 1896, the Greeks asked that a race be added to commemorate their victory over the Persians that had been fought on the plains of Marathon. The race was to be a long one, just under twenty-five miles, and it was a source of Greek pride that a Greek won it. A member of the American Olympic team, John Graham, thought the race a splendid example of the purity of running, and suggested that a similar race be run in Boston. He was, at the time, a member of the Boston Athletic Association.

And so it was that, on the 19th of April in the year 1897, the first Boston marathon was run. Over the years, not a few runners have called the race one of (if not the) toughest marathons in the world! The main reason for this is the infamous Newton Hills located (as the name implies) in the Town of Newton near Boston College. The four hills are not really all that large, but their location in the course is what tends to wear runners down. As they fall right between mile twenty and twenty-one, an awful lot of racers are very tired by then. So, it is not uncommon for some athletes to call it quits at that point.

The last of the Newton Hills is known by the nickname Heartbreak Hill. This goes back to the 1936 race when the defending champion John Kelley managed to catch up to then leader Ellison Brown. As he passed Brown, he gave him a pat on the shoulder. Well, Kelley's drive spurred Brown on; he found a bit most strength, passed Kelley, and went on to win. Later, a reporter for the Boston Globe said that Brown had broken Kelley's heart.

So, if you think you can overcome those demanding Newton Hills, give the race a try. Despite the tough course, it is a good run; coming as it does in spring. In order to enter, you have to have run in a previous marathon within the last year and a half, and it has to be one that is connected with the International Association of Athletics Federations. Also the time you ran the race must not be beyond a certain range depending on your age. As an example, if you are between age eighteen and thirty-four, your time must be below three hours and ten minutes. On the other hand, if you are in your early forties (40 to 44), a time under three hours and twenty-one minutes is acceptable.

Yet, there is a way to get into the race without meeting these qualification requirements. A block of 1,250 spaces in the race are reserved for runners who get sponsorships from local charities. The level of sponsorship, and which charities you can sign up, varies year by year, but it is a viable alternative to having to run in another race. So, depending on how you want to do it, there is more than one way to get the chance to challenge the Newton Hills

The last marathon that I ran I was 3 seconds short of qualifying. Maybe it is time to give it another try.

For the network marketer who is new to online marketing, here are some steps you need to follow to help drive paid traffic to your multi-level marketing (MLM) squeeze page:

Use relevant keywords in your advertisement group: When you choose a keyword or keyword phrase around which to base an ad group, the main keyword as well as those in the group must be relevant to each other. Keep nonrelevant keywords out of the ad group. If you feel the nonrelevant keywords are very important, then make separate ad groups around those keywords.
Make your ad group relevant to your advertisement: Make sure you use the main keyword in your ad no more than once. When you do this, Google will associate your ad and ad group and help reduce your cost-per-click (CPC). By reducing your CPC, you reduce your advertising expenses further.
Make sure your landing page is relevant to your advertisement: When Google's spiderbot scans your campaign and finds that your ad is consistent with the title of your landing page, you are rewarded. When a search engine user searches for a keyword that you are targeting, clicks on your advertisement, and then sees their search term in the title of the page they arrived at, Google will consider that relevant.
Once you have completed these steps and your advertising campaign is up and running, you will have achieved some clicks on your ads. By reducing your CPC, your Quality Score improves. The better your Quality Score, the higher your position is in the sponsored links section of the Google search engine. Your higher ranking in the sponsored links section will result in more quality clicks to your ads and a higher click-through-rate (CTR).
What a high CTR means to you, the internet network marketer, is that you benefit by having more visitors to your squeeze page, building your opt-in list, and increasing the number of sales. If you heed this advice, you will find a big difference between your income and your expenses in Google advertising.
