It has been ten years now since the Space Ruckus series came to be. We don't expect many people to know or remember the series as it was before the current project, Space Ruckus: The Great Invasion. That is because the earlier games were homebrew Klik & Play and The Games Factory endeavors on the part of a single individual. With SR: TGI (as it has become known for short), a fairly decent sized team was formed, and a much better choice of game engine was made with Torque.

Now, to celebrate the tenth anniversary, we have launched a brand new web site! Many long hours were spent putting everything together. The design features a new logo by Jovani Torrentez, several pieces of previously unreleased artwork by Allen Barrett on the new media page, and a special series page, which chronicles the history of Space Ruckus. We hope that you enjoy the new web site. We will try to plan a few more regular updates in the near future. Right now, many of us have to prepare for Comic-Con.

Also, seeing as we are the nostalgic types, we have decided to archive the original web site. It can be found at http://site1.spaceruckus.com from this point onward, but will no longer be maintained.

As usual, we could always use more help. Please refer to our new team page to find out if you may be who we seek.

Today marks the fourth anniversary of production on Space Ruckus: The Great Invasion, and it would appear as if public updates are becoming an annual event of sorts. This is not due to a lack of material, per se. Throughout the years, we have accumulated quite a bit of content, but in its current state, very little is worth sharing publicly. Today, however, we have decided to release a piece of 3D concept art, which you may have already seen if you caught us at the E For All Expo. The piece in question was rendered by our newest artist, Jovani Torrentez. Enjoy!

On Saturday, Space Ruckus materialized at the E For All Expo, which marked its first public appearance. Throughout the day, concepts were on display, free glossy prints were available, and the master portfolio was briefly viewable. In addition to this, a fresh set of business cards were handed out.

A few key members of the Space Ruckus team will be attending the E For All Expo next week courtesy of Telltale Games. The show is being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and runs from October 18th through the 21st. If anyone else will be attending, and would like to meet up, let us know. We will have a few Space Ruckus posters on hand for those that are interested.

Once again, thanks to Telltale Games for the passes.

Well, it seems that another year has passed us by. As unbelievable as it may sound, Space Ruckus: The Great Invasion has been in development for three years now. Over the course of that time, we have put together a great deal of material, including 3D models, banners, concept art, level designs, music compositions, plot scripts, posters, programming code/documentation, videos, voice work, web stuff, and a slew of other things. Of course, we have had our fair share of setbacks. We have lost a few people along the way, but have always been fortunate enough to have other people waiting in the wings to take their places. We are closer than ever to release, but as always, we could certainly use more talent on our team. We have a contact form just for that. More game details will be revealed soon, we promise.

In Akril's Space Quest comic strip #198: The Run-Down, the form of Bill Grig appears on Roger Wilco as a result of a holographic illusion. However, the illusion appears to have gone awry, as Roger Wilco's lower half is missing. While analyzing this mishap, we realized that we rarely show Akril's Bill Grig portrait in its entirety. For example, we only see Bill Grig from the waist up in the poster. While you are visiting, be sure to read some of Akril's other comics. Bill Grig also appears in #82: Girl talk.

Our resident modeler, Gordon Wallace, has completed the flagship of the fleet; known by many as the G-Flyer. Although, this is not Gordon Wallace's first contribution to the project. At a later time, we will reveal a few of his other works. For now, enjoy the G-Flyer.

As many of you may have noticed, the forum has had several cosmetic changes recently. However, behind the scenes, a major upgrade has been in development. For security reasons, the forum has been upgraded to phpBB 2.0.18. In addition, several small changes have been implemented, such as a function that shows active users in the chat room.

Remarkably, Space Ruckus: The Great Invasion has been in production for two years. In truth, this project began with a select few developers. Many of whom had never designed a modern 3D game. However, there is a first time for everything, and the team quickly learned what needed to be done. In the time span of two years, many changes have been made to the development team. Sadly, a few developers were removed from the project, but in business, you have to move ahead, so they were quickly replaced.

The most notable replacement is Vlad Kuryluk, who has taken the place of our former music composers, and begun work on the soundtrack. Below, we have attached a sample of his first composition. Also of note is Gordon Wallace, who has produced a number of models, ranging from furniture to space crafts. At a later time, we will reveal a few of them. Finally, our newest addition to the team is Harrison Brock, who is filling the position of lead programmer.

We began with nothing more than an idea, and it is expanding into something phenomenal. We are well on our way to completing the game. However, there is still quite a bit of work to be done, and we could certainly use more help. If you are interested in a position, please refer to the openings on the team page.

Sample #1 (Vlad Kuryluk)

As Space Ruckus: The Great Invasion development kicks into high gear, we plan to provide public updates on a more frequent basis. To keep the main page from overpopulating, we have added a news archive. When new items are added, old items will be archived. A link to the archive can be found at the bottom of the main page.

Today, the Space Ruckus franchise marks its seventh anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, we've put together a desktop wallpaper. The Space Ruckus logo has been adorned in silver to mark the occasion.

We are pleased to present a teaser poster for Space Ruckus: The Great Invasion.

The poster depicts Bill Grig, Bob Gunner, and Joe Commer standing in formation. Behind them, a number of stars can be seen, along with the top portion of Ralin V. There is a definite sense of calmness in the surroundings and the characters themselves, but be forewarned...the invasion is approaching.

Today, Akril sent her portrait of Bob Gunner. By far, this is the best image that has been released of the character. For those that don't know, Bob Gunner is Commander of the base orbiting Ralin V. The new portrait can be found on the media page, along with a few other art pieces that she has drawn for Gridline Games.

We are proud to announce that we have acquired the use of a classic arcade game. Manufactured in the fall of 1985 by Space Monkey Software, Galactic Struggle was a typical arcade shooter. Although, the inclusion of depleting laser power added a unique challenge. Sadly, due to a limited budget, the game was not widely released. A playable version of Galactic Struggle will be featured within Space Ruckus. In the meantime, you can get your hands on a PC port.

[Galactic Struggle is real, but Space Monkey Software is not. The game was designed by meelWORM and I.]

Change is in the air. Firstly, the site and forum have been transferred to ePerfect.net. As a result, the domain, spaceruckus.com, has been established. Secondly, the company name, Goalsoft, has been retired in favor of Gridline Games. However, this does not change our goal. We will remain committed to bringing you the best game possible.
