Google AdSense For Video Hits Beta Big publishers (and Bob Vila) take note This time, Google's beta tag means something - to become a user, Google has promised that it will expand the program "in the near Shamim Samadi and Ryan Hayward write, "This approach takes the Also, in the event that you want to watch a carefully selected All of this points back to what we covered in the opening: if It's the mother of all record deals, and it has nothing to do with Madonna inking a contract last year with Live Nation (NYSE: LYV). In one of the largest transactions ever on eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY), a retiring record-shop owner has found a buyer for his collection of nearly 3 million vinyl albums, singles, eight-track tapes, and CDs. The winning bid came in a smidgeon above the $3 million starting price for the auction. The buyer has already put down a 10% deposit, so it doesn't appear to be a bogus purchase. One could argue that a better strategy would have been to dispense with what the seller dubbed the "World's Largest Music Collection" in smaller lots. The record collector could have set up a Web page, paying pennies a click to generate leads through Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) or Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO). He could have set up a merchant account through Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) and sold his wares piecemeal. Who knows -- maybe he tried these venues. If so, that only goes to prove eBay's effectiveness. Besides, those other methods may have proved too time-consuming for someone bent on cashing out and enjoying his golden years. In that time I have bought and sold hundreds of different items in just about every conceivable category. In fact, at one time I actually sold comedy CDs because I had got a great deal on a bulk shipment. I'm firmly convinced that Ebay is the single best place to sell a product online. The problem confronted by many would be sellers, is trying to find a product they can actually sell on Ebay. There may be an outrageous amount number of hungry buyers lurking on Ebay but you have to find the right product with enough demand in order to make a killing. Electronics are one of the biggest categories listed on Ebay and at any one time there are literally hundreds of thousands of different electronics items listed for sale. Electronics include things like mp3 players, cell phones, and computers. Just about any adult who lives in an advanced industrial society has some interest in electronics. Therefore, the demand for electronics is huge and shows no signs of decreasing any time soon. Selling electronics can be very profitable if you are able to buy items in bulk. Believe it or not the best place to purchase bulk electronics is Ebay.[more/[ Many sellers on Ebay will list electronic items in bulk quantities like 10, 20, or 30. With a $10 subscription fee to Ebay's market research tool you can easily determine the average sold price for each individual unit. When buying in bulk you are ideally hoping to make a profit of 20%-30% per unit. What's nice about buying in bulk on Ebay is that you don't have to worry about getting scammed and losing your money so long as the seller's feedback is top notch. When buying in bulk from other online vendors, particularly vendors located in Asia, the chance of getting scammed is very high. You can find wholesale lots in just about any category by clicking on the category on the main page and then clicking on "wholesale lots" within each subsection. Baby clothes are yet another hot selling item on Ebay. The baby clothing category has an unusually high Sell Thru Rate (STR) which means that the number of auctions which are completed successfully versus the number that don't is above average. Take a look at the completed listings and see for yourself. As with electronics, baby clothing can be purchased in bulk right on Ebay. You can also purchase used baby clothing by visiting your local thrift stores and discount chains. What's really nice about selling baby clothing is that you can create an entire business model based on selling nothing but baby and children's items. Think about it. If you sell baby clothing it is a certainty that your customers will need more clothing in the future because babies and young children grow. By building a targeted mailing list of your customers based on their purchase history you can send out emails when you have new items that may be of interest to them. If someone needs baby clothes they will eventually need toddler clothes and so on. By building a list you can supply all of your customers needs and make a small fortune in the process. source Thanks to Your Website, My Eyes Are Melting Readability is one of the essential elements of a well designed website that, at times, can get lost in the graphical segment of the design phase. At least once a week I run across an affiliate site that has pages that are difficult, if not painful, to read or even scan. Undoubtedly, if you are presenting someone with a website that is not easy to read, your conversions will suffer. Here's an example I ran across today that show what I'm talking about: Poor Text Layout As you can see, the gradient from grey to black makes the words on the page harder and harder to read the further right you go on the page...and the fine font doesn't help that much either. In the end the site ends up looking amateurish...not the best impression to leave when you are trying to make money online. Of course, it's not just affiliate sites that suffer from readability issues. A great example of great content destroyed by poor text layout is the Cool Travel Guide blog. The blog is authored by Lara Dunston, a professional travel writer who has experience writing for some of the biggest travel book and newspaper publishers on the planet. The most direct path to accomplish this major change in your life is to begin working online in the privacy of your home office. I do not have an office, I work out of a small breakfast nook in my little house. In my pajamas, until noon, when I "feel like working". Actually, I love marketing and often spend my entire day in my nook learning, visiting with my peers and friends, having a grand time. When a person seeks an online career, searching for self-income opportunities online can be overwhelming. What offers are real? Which programs are legitimate? Is this and that website a scam? Why is online coaching hundreds to thousands of dollars? Why do some programs charge so much when they have little to no overhead? Single. Sale. Arggh! Don't despair -- we've all been there before. In fact, it's one of the most common problems people ask us to solve for them. Here's something that'll help ease the pain of turning a "dud" site into one that rakes in the profits... IMC's surefire "My Website Ain't Making Money!" troubleshooting checklist! If you recently launched a new web site and aren't getting the results you expected, you need to ask yourself every single question on the list below, starting at number one. Once you're able to answer "yes" to all ten questions, I guarantee the sales will come rolling in. When you buy things on eBay, you pay the seller before they send you anything. This means that you, as a buyer, are vulnerable to all sorts of problems. You might not get the items you have paid for, or they might be damaged or faulty. Luckily, you have two very important rights when you buy on eBay. Before reading this article keep this is mind. Success is measured by the obstacles you overcome and success is define by your persistence against those obstacles. The Right to Receive Your Item. Maybe the seller never sent the item, or maybe it got lost in the post. Whatever happened, you paid for the item. If it doesn't arrive in the post as described, you have the right to a replacement or a refund, whether it's the seller's fault or not. Though irate eBay sellers are threatening to boycott the online auction house starting Monday to protest recently announced fee and policy changes, some supporters fear the effort will fizzle. "I'm almost positive nothing is going to change," said Nancy Baughman, a boycott promoter who heads ebizauctions.com in Raleigh, N.C. EBay's discussion boards have been sizzling with complaints since Jan. 29, when the San Jose company announced it planned to restructure fees, overhaul how buyers and sellers grade each other, and introduce discounts for the site's best sellers. EBay said its aim was to boost listings by making it cheaper to list items, and to improve eBay's fabled feedback system, which spokesman Usher Lieberman said "was broken." "We recognize this can be a burden on them, but we also feel we have very good reasons for the actions we're taking," Lieberman said. The backlash led eBay to quickly revise its price list to mollify high-volume vendors of CDs, DVDs, books and other media. And Wednesday, eBay rolled out a one-day special that cut all fees to list items for sale to just 20 cents - saving vendors as much as $4.60 an item. Baughman said she was chagrined because the promotion boosted eBay's listings 25 percent, to 16 million, by one online count. Those listings will remain posted for up to 10 days, obscuring any impact from the weeklong boycott and bleeding steam from a movement that hasn't even begun. "Twenty cents and we fold," said Baughman, an eBay "gold PowerSeller." "It just makes me go, 'Ugh.' " Activists opposed to eBay's (EBAY, Fortune 500) upcoming fee and policy changes are readying for a weeklong site boycott starting on Monday, with buyers and sellers waiting to see if this strike will succeed where past protests have failed. The boycott, planned to run Feb. 19 - 25, is scheduled to overlap eBay's Feb. 20 rollout of significant changes announced last month. Sellers say eBay's new policies are likely to cost them more money, but what's really inspired an outpouring of wrath is an adjustment to eBay's feedback system: sellers will no longer be able to leave negative commentary about their buyers. Critics say that will leave sellers vulnerable to negligent bidders and scammers. Spitzer, Amazon.com At Odds Over Sales Tax NY makes a play for millions of tax dollars New York Governor Eliot Spitzer wants all online retailers to collect tax on New York sales, even if the retailer is not based in the state. Spitzer, Amazon At Odds Over Sales Tax In online commerce, consumers are supposed to pay tax on their purchases if their state normally collects a sales tax. This has not been enforced outside of companies with a physical presence inside a state, an example being dsports.com, which will charge me 6 percent Kentucky sales tax when I buy a Giants Super Bowl Championship hat from their website. Purchases on Amazon don't trigger a sales tax charge, since Amazon is based in Washington state. I will have to fork over a few bucks as an honest citizen at tax time for buying a few things on the site in 2007. Businesses should improve email backup policies A federal judge has issued an order allowing the government watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics In Washington (CREW) to conduct "very limited" questioning of White House officials about email messages the group alleges are missing. The group filed a lawsuit last May against the White House Office of Administration (OA) asking for access to White House email under the Freedom of Information Act. (FOIA). The administration maintains the OA is not subject to the FOIA request because it only advises and assists the president and should not be considered an agency. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly pointed out that the definition of an agency is not meant to cover the president's immediate staff or the Executive Office of the President. (EOP).

Owens, a Severn, Md.-based seller of high-end dolls that typical go for several hundred dollars each. On such an expensive transaction, having a buyer cause trouble - by, for example, disputing the transaction and requesting a credit-card chargeback after they've already received their merchandise - can be financially devastating, she said. What To Do After Your eBay Auction Closes Hopefully you made a sale or several sales. Now the important work begins. Here are some tips on what to do after your eBay auction closes. Buyer Contact Once your items have sold, be responsive to the buyer. Contact them in a quick manner, thank them for their purchase, and provide the required information for payment. Professional Wrapping When you wrap your items, wrap it professionally in nice, clean tissue paper. If breakable, be sure the item is wrapped with bubble wrap as well. Include a business card with your website information, name, address, or a printed out statement showing the items name, items number, price paid, and a small hand-written note thanking the buyer for their purchase.
Start at Home When you first get started, it can be a little unnerving. The best option is to start by looking around your own home. Think of items that you would sell in a garage sale. However, instead of pricing each item and lugging it outside hoping for a nice sunny day, you can advertise them on the Internet. Collectibles Hot sellers on eBay are collectibles such as coins, stamps, or dolls. You can check out the collectibles category to get a better idea of what people love to buy. Anything that will move up in value would fall in this category. Consumables
If you sell vintage Americana and don't allow Japanese bidders you might just as well place a "No Baggy Pants Allowed" sign in your auction ads. Vintage Americana is hot in Japan with thousands of hungry collectors. These collectors have several things in common. They have money to spend on their interests Internet marketing strategies involve driving targeted (people who are interested in what you have to offer) traffic to your website, blog, or sales page. That traffic then has to be converted into sales. This simple formula illustrates this process: Traffic + Conversions = Sales Keeping this formula in your mind will help you in your internet marketing efforts because you will realize that you not only have to generate traffic, but also turn those visitors into buyers. Furthermore, here are 7 basic rules to follow when applying this formula. These rules are relevant to all forms of marketing but are especially important for online marketing where inexperienced people can "burn" a lot of money quickly and become very discouraged. 1. All marketing involves RISK. Whether you are trying something new or "copying" a strategy that has brought good results for others, there is still an element of risk. When speaking of risk, you tend to think of gambling which makes for an appropriate analogy here. For internet marketing, we try to reduce the risk and swing the odds in our favour by doing keyword research, learning skills like ad writing, article marketing, and pay per click, and other general marketing activities such as knowing what your target market is interested in. 2. Test small first. Since the creation of eBay, just about everything has been bought and sold. Take a look at some of this stuff... eBay - The worldwide garage sale. Since its creation millions of items have been bought and sold. You can find just about anything on eBay, the question is whether or not you would buy it. Some of the items are quite hilarious, some are rather interesting, and others are just plain weird. Perhaps the strangest phenomena is the ridiculous amounts of money people are actually willing to pay for some of this crazy stuff. 1. Diane Duyser, from Florida sold her grilled cheese sandwich that appeared to have the face of the Virgin Mary upon it. The item was purchased by an online casino for $28,000! A man from Arkansas sold a strange jar that he claimed contained a ghost inside of it. He said he found it while metal detecting around an old cemetery. For his full story visit here. A software industry group representing Adobe Systems Inc., Symantec Corp. filed seven suits Friday against eBay sellers it accuses of pirating Adobe Photoshop and other programs to sell on the auctioneer's Web site. The suits were filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California by the Software & Information Industry Association. The litigation adds to two other cases the association said it filed against eBay sellers two weeks ago, one involving the illegal sale of Symantec's pcAnywhere. We know this is off topic for the blog, but, to funny not to share. There are few words so may not be suitable for all ages. This is one of those stories where you begin to chuckle....then find yourself laughing out loud. (Not to mention the tears that come with the laughter) TASER GIFTING Pocket Taser Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife. A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Taser for their anniversary submitted this. Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized taser. The effects of the taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety.... 'WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button AND pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and taser in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really and (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, "no possible way!" What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best... I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, "don't do it master," reasoning that a one-second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one-second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and .. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION! I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs. The cat was standing over me making meowing sounds I had never heard before, licking my face, undoubtedly thinking to herself, "Do it again, stupid, do it again!" Note: If you ever feel compelled to "mug" yourself with a taser, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one-second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor. A three-second burst would be considered conservative. SON-OF-A-... That hurt like **%!!! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. How did they get up there??? My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I'm still looking for my testicles! I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return!! Still in shock! P. S. My wife loved the gift, and now regularly threatens me with it! "If you think Education is difficult, try being stupid." More than six months after the announcement of deal between StubHub! and Major League Baseball (MLB), new details have emerged revealing that certain customer information received by the secondary ticketing giant will be given to MLB teams. At the recent International Ticketing Association conference in Chicago, representatives from MLB told those in attendance that for any tickets that are sold on StubHub!, the information on who bought the tickets, who sold the tickets and how much they were sold for will all be revealed to the teams. "At this point we're not elaborating on any customer information sharing relating to our MLB deal," StubHub! spokesperson Sean Pate told TicketNews. "The terms of the deal are confidential and we'll be communicating any necessary information to our customers in the coming weeks." The agreement was announced in August as a five year deal for StubHub! to be the exclusive secondary ticket reseller for Major League Baseball. The three other major sports leagues (NBA, NFL, and NHL) have all inked deals with Ticketmaster to be their official secondary ticketer. Last Miniute Deals! Valid 2/14 to 2/18!
