wildlife news and information I know most of you have heard the news in the last week... the world has lost a great adventurer, wildlife advocate and, I'll admit, crazy man - Steve Irwin AKA The Crocodile Hunter. Although the news is already out, we here at AnimalHelp.Com think it is most fitting for us to recognize a fellow animal lover. I remember well watching the first episodes. At the time I was a zoo veterinary technician, working with one of the top crocodilian vets in the world. I had my hands on an amazing variety of different species of crocodilians on a daily basis. I couldn't believe how Steve Irwin would tackle and tangle with the crocs - we never did things that way! We had safe - well as safe as you can be around crocs - ways to capture, restrain, and work with crocodilians. It was never the wild cowboy ways that Steve Irwin handled crocs...
The most widely dispersed of American cats, cougars once ranged coast to coast, from the southern tip of South America almost to the Arctic Circle.

Giant pandas are found only in the mountains of central China....

The black-tailed species has the greatest range down the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains from Canada to Mexico. Gunnison's, the white-tailed and the Utah prairie dog all occur further west.....
I am a behavioral ecologist - someone who studies the behavior of organisms as they interact with their surrounding environment - who likes to study predator-prey relationships.
Most biologists like to think of themselves as interested in particular kind of questions (e.g., how does a certain species of predator successfully locate and capture its prey?); but, I also freely
admit to an organismal bias: I love to study snakes....
