Mobile-SG.com RSS Feed Sun, 30 Nov 2008 05:13:00 +0100 I was unwell for several days this week, so my meals were simplified down to fish soup, fish porridge, seafood soup, etc, for several days. Tried 3 of the fish soup stalls in Alexandra Village and found the one served by the corner stall (#01-88) to be better in presentation & taste.
![]() Made a trip to SITEX 2008 yesterday at Singapore Expo. It's a real long ride there, so I decided to have my dinner in east area after I'm done with my purchases at SITEX. Eventually ended up in Tampines Mall and had a hard time finding a seat at any restaurant. Fast food is out for me since my throat has not fully recovered yet. And the food court is a nightmare on a weekend with the crowds. Fortunately, I found a seat in Central, which is a cafe that serves food in Hong Kong style. Ordered the chicken cutlet noodles (ok, this is not good for throat either, isn't it?) and a glass of lemon lime drink. I can't remember the name of the dessert that came along with the set meal (forgot to take a pic of it). Anyway, it had mango, sago and pomelo in the bowl of mango-yellow "juice". Overall, the food tasted quite good. The place is a little cramped though. ![]() ![]() Sun, 23 Nov 2008 01:14:00 +0100 Why did I wake up so early on a Sunday morning although I do not need to do so? It's all "thanks" to RC (Residents Committee) for West Coast GRC. They have pitched a tent an the empty space just beside my block and have an event that starts at 8am. So, they started testing the acoustics at 7am and the level of the "music" ( I prefer to call it noise) went up. I got a very rude shock and woke up abruptly. If my heart was weak, I may have ended in hospital by now.
What I am so "amused" with is with the organising committee for such events. It's not the first time they have done such stupid things like organising events on weekend mornings and start testing the acoustics early. But this time round, it is one of the earliest and the music is also one of the loudest. I have noticed there there are more people at the coffee shops below my block today, more so than a regular Sunday morning. I guess it's most probably because of the loud music waking people up. I wonder where the brains of the organising committee go. Let's see if the MP can answer my question. Sat, 22 Nov 2008 06:50:00 +0100 Went over to have "POWER" nasi lemak at Boon Lay today. Costs $2.50. The fried chicken and chillie is good. The chillie is not too spicy for me. Just right! Actually, this stall has 2 shifts. The night shift is the one that commands the long queues till 2am.
![]() Noticed there is a queue at the 雷茶 stall and someone is recording video there. Possibly for a food variety show? Fri, 21 Nov 2008 14:28:00 +0100 I've finally tried the claypot laksa at Alexandra Village (#01-75). It's yummylicious!
![]() Thu, 20 Nov 2008 15:53:00 +0100 Here's what I had for dinner today at Jurong East (the food court just next to the bus stop at Jurong East Central). Good in both presentation and taste.
![]() Wed, 19 Nov 2008 14:24:00 +0100 I've been eating more unhealthy food recently, and it's not easy to resist the temptations.
Had chee cheong fun again for breakfast, but filled with juicy prawns... ![]() And nonya curry chicken (Alexandra Village #01-45) for lunch. Spicy and delicious.... ![]() Wed, 19 Nov 2008 07:43:00 +0100 ZoneAlarm celebrates their birthday today and the software is given free till 19th Nov 2008 6am PST. Grab it fast!
Tue, 18 Nov 2008 18:41:00 +0100 Finally decided to remove my Facebook badge placed on the right of this blog after trying it out for a week or so. I am so totally annoyed with the bugs associated with it.
Firstly, the "recent pics" field must be used. Otherwise, the javascript version of the badge may randomly decide not to display anything at all. This happens quite frequently. Secondly, the language of the field names just changes by itself randomly. This is extremely annoying because the field names may be pretty long in some languages, and it totally screws the webpage design. Arrgghh....enough of their badge bugs. Tue, 18 Nov 2008 18:30:00 +0100 Most Singaporeans love to eat and I am no exception...
Had char siew chee cheong fun at Alexandra Village (#01-77) for breakfast on a Tuesday morning... ![]() And went over to IKEA to have swedish meatballs for lunch. Since the portion doesn't quite make a meal, I also had pasta. ![]() ![]() Mon, 17 Nov 2008 16:46:00 +0100 Spotted some live size soft toy dogs at Paragon and one of them looks quite real and cute. Costs $60+ if I remember correctly.
