It's been a long, long time since Nokia has last dropped a contest on its USA site. In an attempt to promote the Nokia 6205 BatPhone, Nokia is giving away 32 pairs of tickets to see The Dark Knight in full IMAX glory.

Engadget reports that the shiny E71 North American version, complete with North American 3G, has hit the Nokia Flagship store in Chicago. No word on the flagship store in NYC, but the price is a cool $483 + tax. Which looks like a nasty 10.25%. Ouch!

So it looks like there's a grand total of two leaked screenshots for Nokia's upcoming S60 5th Edition Touch UI. But take the word leaked with a grain of salt, because this wasn't taken from a Tube or even an actual device: it was lifted from an S60 Theme Editor.

Compusa may only be a shadow of its former self after being purchased by Tiger Direct, but right now they've got a damn good price on the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet: $299.

The N810 brings a slide-out keyboard and integrated GPS to Nokia's series of internet tablets. Combined with the 4.13" touch-screen display and open-source Tablet OS, it makes for a pretty handy multifunctional device + media player + GPS.

After a lackluster Q1 report, Nokia's second quarter earnings wowed investors, who boosted shares of the company's stock by 8% today.

How good were the earnings? Good enough that Nokia actually increased sales for the USA by 10%, something we haven't seen in a long, long time...

And Mac users get a little love today: Nokia just released version 1.3 (Beta) of its Multimedia Transfer app. It's similar to PC Suite, minus the PC, and the Suite. What's left is just simple Mac-to-phone file transfers for your music/video/random files.

There's some v12.046 firmware goodness at Nokia Europe for the Nokia N78 - but only if you've got the international version. Otherwise, if you're holding an N78-3, consider yourself shafted.

Updates include some improvements dealing with "softkey selection, Bluetooth, video playback, email sending, and alarm clock functions."

Grab the firmware either through Nokia Software Updater or via your N78's device manager.

If the leaked Nokia 8208 wasn't enough to whet your CDMA appetite, here's another one for ya: the 1508/1508i.

I'm still trying to figure out whether this new app at Beta Labs, Nokia Chat, is a forward-thinking, revolutionary piece of software or a complete waste of time.

Think you're hot stuff when it comes to sending SMS'es? If you send anything like a thousand text messages per month, then you just might be headed to New York City. For LG's Texting Championship, that is.

Texting could bring you fame and $50,000.

Texting could bring you fame and $50,000.

Mosey on over to Nokia Beta Labs for a little taste of A-GPS on your N810 internet tablet. The beta app should shorten GPS lock-on times and "provide improved performance," using either a wi-fi/WLAN connection or your cell phone data plan via Bluetooth.

To get it working, you'll need to give the A-GPS app a reference location, or your approximate location on the map. And again if you happen to move more than 185 miles away from there.

Requires OS2008, DIABLO_4.2008.23-14 or later.

...and what a leak it is: Nokia posted a product page for a forthcoming device called the 8208, with some very Nseries-ish styling (aka anything that looks like an N81). Which would be nothing new, considering that said Nseries-ish styling has been all the rage this year with Nokia's GSM phones. Except that the 8208 isn't a GSM phone, it's CDMA. Interesting...

Nokia's software programmers have been busy lately. The latest updates on Nokia Europe (but nowhere else) include some new apps and upgraded functionality on some older ones.

Early last week Nokia opened up openatownrisk.com, a teaser site that promised "the weirdest clip ever made" sometime on the 7th. Or was that the 8th? Either way, the site has been updated with a Notice of Immediate Termination letter that claims the owner of the site "will stand before trail, accused of intent to publish content driving people insane. Failure to remove the site will result in immediate incarceration."

Wow. Just wow. This has got to be the absolute worst marketing ploy in the history of the Nokia Phone Blog. The only thing that could possibly make it worse would be an announcement for an N85.

Four phones were released by Nokia on in the last few days of June - among them the 7610 Supernova, 7510, 7310, and 7210. The best of the bunch is without a doubt the 7610, but it seems that there's something for everyone in the Supernova line.
