We find two rests in the Scriptures, one that is given and another that is found. "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." Hebrews 4:9-11.

"Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on Him That raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead," Romans 4:24. The most wonderful news for as lonely a sinner as I.

The third resurrection is the out resurrection out from the dead (Phil 3:11). Those who fail to distinguish the things that differ (Phil 1:10) will miss out on this truth and stumble in their understanding of God's Word.

"For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." Rom 4:3. In this wondrous chapter, we learn the good news of our justification by faith alone in Christ alone by observing how Abraham was first justified.

Discussed in this message is the resurrection out from the dead. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." 2 Co 5:10.

"Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24

The idea of "resurrection of the dead" is so familiar in the English-speaking world that the very word "resurrection" implies the rest of the phrase. But in the Scriptures, there are three different phrases used. To appreciate the Bible, they must be distinguished from each other. Paul prayed the Philippians would appreciate the things that differ. In this message, John helps you do that very thing.

In verses 17-29 of Romans 2 the apostle expounds on what it is like to sin as a Jew and defines what a true Jew really is: "But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly: and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God." Rom 2:29

The overthrow of Israel in the wilderness is an example for all believers. It is written for our admonition, and relates directly to the prize of God. 1st Corinthians Chapter 10.

The second chapter of Romans gets very personal as the Apostle points his instruction directly at the reader. "And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?? Rom 2:3.

Just as Abraham was twice justified, so must we be to be called a friend of God. Discussed in this show is the hope of our calling and its relation to God's prize.

"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;" Rom 1:28. In this message we discuss those things which are not convenient.

"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? 1st Corinthians 9:24. God's prize will not be won by all of His children. We must first learn how to run before we may obtain.

In this stunning portion of Scripture we see what happens to men who deny the living God. "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened." Rom 1:21. That's just the beginning...

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 To confuse God's gift and God's prize is to fail to "rightly divide the word of truth." 2nd Timothy 2:15

We begin our study in the book of Romans with a look at the theme verse of BibleStudy.net. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: For it is the power of God unto salvation unto everyone who believeth; To the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16.

A gift is not a prize. A prize is not a gift. God has both of them for us. Failure to distinguish them is confusing us, hindering the gospel, and driving us apart.

As this epistle to the Colossians comes to a close, we take some time to study the saints mentioned and take note of the cyclical nature of the letter. "And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church f the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea." Col 4:16

The end of Colossians 3 takes up the oft mentioned subject of our conditional inheritance based on faithfulness in our Christian walk, "Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons." Col 3:24-25

This portion of Colossians is overflowing with practical advice for the Christian life; "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Col 3:16
