NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- An oil bull has pulled in his horns, but isn’t turning tail.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Is it over? One battered bull believes so.

Apple may have taken a bruising over its weak earnings guidance, but three of the top-performing newsletters that held the stock prior to its announcement remain steadfast in their convictions that it's a buy.

The market may be going to hell in a hand basket but there are some who are profiting mightily during this downturn. Small consolation, though, for Hager subscribers that opted for a different portfolio, which suffered a stunning 75.5% loss over the same period.

Market sentiment suggests a bottom is near. Investors should keep a close eye on what the VIX does this week.
