One of the so-called “killer apps” from the late 1990s was m-commerce, a concept that fell completely flat even before the dot-com meltdown. However, the mobile wallet is a much different application that includes elements of mobile transactions, as well as other items one may find in a leather wallet, such as membership cards, loyalty cards, and other forms of identification.
Both DVD players and recorders are growing, in terms of sales, globally. The DVD player market benefits from versatility in form factors. DVD players can be seen in portable renditions, integrated with VCRs, or in the back panel seats of SUVs. While DVD recorders have come down in price, there is still delineation in the pricing of DVD players and DVD recorders-each represents a different value proposition.
Traditional wireline service revenues in the US remain on an overall negative trend. This In-Stant Analysis argues that while the move will increase AT&T’s market shares in key segments and enable it to compete more effectively in emerging markets it won’t raise the specter of monopoly power. Indeed, the report provides data from AT&T’s 2006 Consumer Broadband Survey of 1,200 US households showing the leadership and growing adoption of VoIP providers such as Vonage, Yahoo!, Skype and other emerging competitors.
The transition to the next generation of game consoles has begun. Microsoft has launched the Xbox 360 in North America, Europe, and Japan.
