(writing as Arthur Jefferson)
With Sean Barrett, Michael Jenner, John Hollis and Alan Cuthbetson.
Directed by Gerry Jones.
Broadcast 1984.01.15 to 1984.02.19
In the town of Melford, a Christmas shift for DI Carter and DC Nuttall becomes a trail of death. And why is the mysterious Mr. Farnham so interested?
From The Independent's August 2007 obituary:
"In the 1980s [Wingfield] fell out with the commissioning editors at the BBC. New brooms were heading up the drama department and Wingfield's work was by no means PC (women hardly get a look in to his plays, other than as harpies, naggers, tarts or murderous schemers). He submitted his serial The Killing Season as 'Arthur Jefferson', rightly surmising that no one would realise it was Stan Laurel's real name."
mono; 46.54 MB; sound quality fair to good
filtered, speed-adjusted, and generally massaged by SadSack
mini-review: this is an excellent, tense thriller (but if you plow through it all at once, you may never want to hear White Christmas again)

Five more episodes of 2000X
How often are you late for work? For school? For dinner? For anything? How often are you chastised or punished for it in someway? What if we became so dependant on punctuality that it became not just a social grace but a full fledged law?
Robin Williams (yes, that Robin Williams) plays a rebellious citizen who decides to protest the system, even (gasp!) make people late to show his contempt for the system in this Harlan Ellison tale called Repent Harlequin! Said The Tick Tock Man.
As a bonus (offered more by the 2000X series than I) there is included the Steven Vincent Benet story called By The Waters Of Babylon, painting a different future than Ellison's tale. Benet paints a future where civilization has been broken and destroyed, and a primitive post-apocalyptic man searches for the lost knowledge of the once great society that lived on this land - a trip that takes him to the mysterious dead city, once called "Newyork".
2000X was a National Public Radio series produced by Hollywood Theater of the Air head Yuri Rasovsky and narrated by author Harlan Ellison that spanned 26 episodes.
