The above file is the latest patch for V3 exchanges. All the bugs mentioned on the forum have been fixed. Along with some code enhancements.

Patch Installation

The patch is much like the installation routine, We use a exe to make the process easier and quicker.

1) Take a FULL backup of your current exchange.
2) Run the EXE.
3) Patch Complete, Make sure your exchange is working correctly.

.::Migration From A V2 Exchange::.

We have made the migration from other exchange software as easy as possible. Our migration script will do all the work for you.

Requirement
1 Additional Mysql Database
PHP4+
GD2*
FreeType*

*Required for the new image security feature

DO NOT use the same database. This is very important otherwise it will be overwritten when the installer updates the database. It will also prevent the ability to rollback in case a problem is experienced.

How To Migrate

1) Take a full backup of your V2 exchange.
2) Backup mysql_config.php and /data/configc.inc.php to an easily accessible location.
3) Delete all files related to your exchange your are migrating from.
4) Run our installer and following the step by step guide.

mysql_config.php

This file is needed during the migration process as it will be used to connect to the old database to move the members. We have used an additional database so the original data will not be touched reducing the risk of corruption.

/data/configc.inc.php

This file is also needed during the migration, The script will attempt to keep your old configuration. About 95% can be successfully kept.

What if everything goes wrong? What can I do to fix it.

If during your exchange upgrade something goes wrong. Or after installation something isn't working correctly recovering is not that difficult due to the way we have created the migration :

1) Delete all V3 related files on your exchange.
2) Upload the files from the backup you created at the start.

Your exchange will now return back to how it was before you started the V3 migration.

I am on your hosting, How do I setup the 404 and scheduled file?

The 404 can be setup from within helm. Look for the "Error Pages" icon. This will be located at the same place where you setup your email address.

When making your request we will setup the scheduled.php file for you.

Can it really be Christmas again? It seems like only a few weeks have past since the last one! In December 2005 we enjoyed a cold and frosty Christmas in Southern Ireland. Snow actually fell on Christmas day, something which everyone likes to predict but the reality is rare - at least where I normally spend it.

3.3.0 Patch After Installation Pactch

If you have installed 3.3.0 patch there are a few minor bugs introduced. Follow these instructions to solve the bugs

Run the following in the "SQL Viewer" in the manager :

Fiex {tracker.hits} in the template

The above post patch contains the orignal "V3_Patch.zip" post patch. So you do not need to install both. This deals with the homepage manager and other little annoyances found.

1) Unzip & Upload (It should unzip in the correct folder structure)

I fergot to include one more new feature in the readme area. This again is professional script owners only. "Solo Adverts" allow your members to purchase email/write an email which gets sent to ALL your members.

The main design is controlled by 2 files which are :

outside.tpl - Displayed when they are not logged in.
inside.tpl - Displayed when they are logged in.

The standard design with the script uses javascript to round the corners (this makes the pages load faster) You can change the colour of the rounded corners by the javascript tags in the inside/outside templates :

There are a few tags to look out for.

{Active} - This displays their account active notice
{ContentDisplay} - This displays the content page
{BannerDisplay} - Displays Banner Show from the System Configuration
{BannerDisplay3} - Displays Banner Show 3 from the System Configuration
{Slogan} - Displays the slogan from the System Configuration
{TopMenu} - Displays the top menu
{BottomMenu} - Displays the bottom menu
{TopMessage} - Additional Information (Displays location)

{blocks.display} - This is slightly different, It will have some loop tags around it as this is what is used to generate the separate blocks which can be edited from within the manager.

Inject Pages

These are the template files which are placed into the {ContentDisplay} tag of the main templates. They are located in the inv folder. They work just like the main templates however they do have some more advanced tags which are unique to each tpl file.

Be careful if you use a WYSIWUG as you might highlight and delete one of these special tags by mistake. I also suggest you DO NOT run any html checkers/cleaners as these template tags will be removed.

Code & SQL

You can write your own php/sql in the tpl files. You can also include your own php file (via <include filename="location/file.php">)

.::Negative Opinions About Walker Traffic Exchange Scripts::.

I have been in the TE business for several years and an online marketer for about 10 years. I have used most of the best of all the TE Scripts available. I have been blessed with enough success to be able to afford any script I want and to throw it away if I really get disgusted with it. And, on one of my exchanges, I am using the Walker Script.

As soon as I came out with the exchange, I received an email from one of the prominent people in the field of Traffic Exchanges, Jon Olson. He was very negative about the script and it is well known that he doesn't like the script at all. He says it is very unstable.

My experience has been both pro and con. My users have been mostly favorable toward it, though I recently changed directions and have put the script to use on another domain and do not have any feedback from that yet because I am still in the setup phase - actually, trying to get a few script problems resolved.

From my perspective as a script owner and webmaster, I find that the script has many problems and needs much fixing as is evident from the Walker Traffic Exchange Support Forum. So, my biggest criticism would be that the Walker Pro-Traffic Script is one of the most expensive on the market and should have been better tested and fixed before release. That's the con.

The pros are:

1. When you consider what plugins comes with the Pro Traffic Script, you would actually have to pay a lot more if you bought another script and had to pay a programmer to program those things in.

2. The support you get from Walker scripts is attentive, responsive, and pleasantly courteous. There are problems, but they get fixed, or are scheduled for fixing. They keep plugging along and refining the script.

I'll stick with the script and though I get a bit annoyed at times and frustrated, I always feel better after talking with the Walker folks because they solve the problem in a reasonable amount of time. I have confidence that the Walker script will just get better and better, and I hope that the current naysayers will have to one day acknowledge that the Walker Script is one of the best on the market, if not the best.

Hi Everyone,

The developer pack is continually being improved and documented. We have many more plans to give full control to the administrator without having to loose their custom work when we release a patch.

System File

This is the most important file in the whole exchange, It controls a lot of the low level setup. It also setups the mysql connection for you. It uses the default identify so you only need to do mysql_query(SQL);

Manager Integration

This will allow you to add a link into the managers 3rd Party Applications section. Use the following SQL :

Program Title - The title of your program.

Manager Login Security

If you would like to use the built in manager security is very easy all you need to do is include the following files :

system.php - Located in the root.
admin.security.php - Located in /manager/include

If the user is not logged in they will automatically taken to the login screen. It will also set the following variables you can use :

$level - Their access level 1,2,3
$display_name - Their login name.

Exchange Pages

There are 2 separate locations to split members/non members access pages :

index.php?_m=FILENAME - Members Page
index.php?_n=FILENAME - Everyones Page

The files are located in :

/custom/members/ - Members Only
/custom/all/ - Everyone

Inside each folder above will be an example shell_file.php which you can use to copy. All you need to do is output your content like normal php files and the exchange will capture your response and put it into the master template.

Extended Execution

You can now hook your own code into ours without the risk of it being lost when a patch is applied. At the moment the hooks are very limited but we plan to expand on them all the time.

1) System Tools > Extended Execution

You add the php code directly into the "code" box (doesnt require ) and select the position of the script you would like that code to be executed.

.::How Do I Setup Alertpay For Taking Payments?::.

Although alertPay's documentation says they can handle subscriptions it's not true LOL! Well, I phoned them yesterday (2/9/06) and they said it's a priority for them but it's not ready yet. They expect it will be available "soon". They would not be drawn into exactly when that would be.

However they can be used for banner impression and hit purchases and with the use of their IPN these purchases will be handled automatically in the same way as Paypal and Stormpay. We are ready for when they do release subscriptions and as long as they don't change the specifications you'll be "alertPay ready" LOL. I expect we will have to release a patch.

Setting Up alertPay IPN

Unfortunately it's not as straight forward and needs a little more effort on your part than the other payment processors. Here's what you do:-

Create a new payment receipt email address for your site (you will need a separate email address for each site you have that uses alertPay)
Login to alertPay and add the new address (select "Add Email" beside your email address on your Account page)
Select "Sell Online" (top right hand side).
Select IPN setup (2nd from left below the alertPay logo).
Select Advanced Options
In the "Set Up alert URL Associations" section select the email address from the dropdown options
Then add your IPN alert link in the "Enter alert URL:" field which should be http://yourdomain.com/alertpay_ipn.php (replace yourdomain.com with your domain).
Click submit and you should see it added to the table just below the submit button.
Make a note of the "Encrypted Security Code:", this will be a funny looking string of numbers and text. best thing to do is copy it to notepad.
Now login to your exchange, go BCP/Configuration/General Configuration/Financial Configuration
Enter the email you just create for the alertPay IPN
Enter the "Encrypted Security Code" into the BCP but you MUST change any "+" for spaces. For example if your secret code is o+/xLt4rpu2W1l7drHlrdd you would enter o /xLt4rpu2W1l7drHlrdd instead

And that's it

SYMPTOMS

When you try to access any page on your website the page may fail and you may experience the following symptom.

The page doesn't load and reports an error similar to:-

The file /home//yourdomain.com/public_html/index.php has been encoded with the ionCube PHP Encoder and requires the free ioncube_loader_lin_4.3.so ionCube PHP Loader to be installed.

CAUSES

1. The problem occurs when the Ioncube loader files are not installed or not installed correctly. This can also happen if your ISP updates the version of PHP and you do not have the correct version of the Ioncube loaders installed.

2. The hosting provider has switched PHP SAFE mode ON.

3. The hosting provider has disallowed the use of dl functions (.so's in linux, .dll's in windows).
