Shacknews - Your source for the latest video game news Fri, 05 Dec 2008 03:17:00 +0100 Valve has just released a minor patch to Left 4 Dead, which addresses frustrations some users have reported with both the Versus mode and co-op difficulty settings.
In response to the nearly-impossible task of completing a stage on Expert difficulty in Versus mode, the difficulty has now been locked to Normal altogether. In co-op mode, the server will now switch to whatever difficulty the party has selected.

While no specific songs were named, the tracks will be from artists Bentley, Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert and the Dixie Chicks. The songs will be released as a download for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. The first screenshot of Raven's X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been released via 1UP.
The title is based on the upcoming movie of the same name starring Hugh Jackman. The film will detail Wolverine's past, and is set to cover the Weapon X storyline and reintroduce the character of Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber). Namco Bandai has just announced Surge, a new studio and publishing label it says will provide "cutting-edge, genre-defining games that are targeted at satiating the appetite of western gamers."
Afro Samurai (PS3, 360) will mark the first Surge release when it hits on January 27. Publisher Midway's stock has plummeted almost 40% since Sumner Redstone's sale of the company for an embarrassing $100,000, settling at an all-time low of 23 cents per share.
Friendly investor Mark Thomas purchased Redstone's majority shares of Midway on Monday. Though the publisher is still valued at $21 million, it also carries some $70 million in debt--a fatal figure that could actually be as high as $150 million, according to Variety. The Mortal Kombat publisher is now in danger of being brutally delisted from the New York Stock Exchange, and must raise its share worth above $1 within six months. Of the four, Warner Bros has an advantage as it already owns 20% of Eidos. The free items, including a coat and winter hat, are automatically unlocked after signing into Xbox Live. New selections are designated by a yellow star in the Avatar Creator Tool. It's the first clothing update for the customizable avatars, which arrived as part of the New Xbox Experience on November 19. Microsoft has stated plans to release new items across the next six months, though it's not known if all the parts will be free.
