The Bat-Blog was totally honored recently with an interview by the AMC TV Channel Website & also to be named "The Site of The Week" at their SCI-FI SCANNER Blog! The American Movie Classics channel is the home of one of my favorite TV Shows called MAD MEN ( about advertising executives in the 1960's, wonderful writing, great acting, very cool hyper-accurate art direction, etc...check it out sometime! ). So, it was a big surprise to be featured there! I don't mean to be bragging or anything but I thought it was cool that they wanted to talk with me, that's neat! Here's a link if you want to read the interview. I love that the BAT-BLOG LOGO is so BIG!! ( Thank you Kevin for this rare treat, it's been a lot of fun ).

Our friend Matt sent these 2 very cool photos showing him at the actual location where one part of THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie was filmed in Chicago. Do you remember the now-classic scene in the movie trailer where the Joker is standing in the street & Batman whips the Bat-Pod motorcycle around, then there's a close-up of the Joker ( Heath Ledger ) looking back? Well, this is that street! Ever since seeing that famous scene I knew that this exact location would be a super-famous tourist spot! I mean, it's gonna be like that cross-walk in England where the Beatles shot that Abbey Road cover!! Chicago is a beautiful city & I know that the next time I'm there I am gonna have to get a shot like this, ha ha! Matt, thank you for sharing these pics, they're great, good job! But, could you please send me the address of this street because a million readers are gonna ask, ha ha! Just please leave a comment & they can read it there, thanks again.
Remember our new friend Kuan who, in a previous post, sent us some really interesting photos of "Batman Movie Advertising in Singapore"? Well, yesterday he sent a few pics of his amazing Batman Action Figure Collection! The 1st photo shows the 1st 100 Kenner Batman Action Figures & I gotta admit that they're pretty impressive. ( If you look at the very 1st figure at the far top left-hand side, that is the Super Powers figure from the 1980's! ) It's always neat to see toy collections & I really like how this one is displayed on that staircase, very cool! The 2nd photo shows a few Batman action figures he has bought recently that are related to both The Dark Knight & the Batman Begins movies. It's really neat to compare the ones made by many different toy companies like Hot Toys, Takara, Mattel, & Medicom. Also, the Tumbler Batmobile is 1/6 scale & is the Remote Control RC Car by Tyco. WOW! Great collection Kuan & thank you very much for sharing your pictures, they're awesome! I want to invite ALL our Bat-Blog Readers to send us photos of their toy collections. ( One last note, if the pictures seem small then just click on them for larger, more detailed, versions ).
Here's a video showing "The Making of..." the New DC Comics Warner Brothers Video Game called DC UNIVERSE ONLINE. Basically it's gonna be like World of Warcraft where you become a character & go around a huge environment, many cities actually, & fight crime! This is gonna be available for the Playstation 3 & it looks awesome!!

At the next San Diego Comic Book Con be sure to look out for this SDCC Exclusive Boxed Set of Hot Wheels 1:50 Scale BATGIRL CYCLE, 1966 BATMOBILE, & BATCYCLE Diecast Cars! The photo shows what the packaging looks like & it's pretty cool ( Click the image up above for a larger version ). The display box has sort of a "Batcave" design, very neat. Now, I already have the 50th scale Batman Car & Bat-Cycle so hopefully Mattel will be selling the Batgirl Motorcycle all by itself at the convention also.
OK, I know that The CATWOMAN movie with Halle Berry is one of the worst movies of all time but she still looks pretty good in that tight black leather cat-suit, MEOW! While filming in Canada the famous Batman Comic Book Artist Jim Lee got to visit the set and, while there, drew a classic image of Catwoman. The 1st photo shows him drawing. The next one is him showing his original artwork to Halle. I thought that fans of his art would get a big kick out of this. Plus, he got to meet THE Halle Berry...lucky!
Ok, Ok, I know I already posted some Batman Desktop Wallpapers ( because we post brand-new ones every Wednesday ) but this one was so cool I couldn't wait to get it online now! Here's a fresh high-resolution graphic from the new Cartoon Network TV Show BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD! This image features Aquaman & Batman...underwater! I'm really liking the style of the graphics I have been seeing from this animated series lately, it could be very cool, I can't wait! Let's just hope the toys & action figures are cool too, ha ha!

Over at the Popular Mechanics Magazine website a reporter, named Erin Scottberg, interviews Nathan Crowley, the production designer for The Dark Knight Batman movie. The main focus was the creation of the Bat-Pod motorcycle & the problems they had maneuvering a bike with such HUGE tires! Pretty interesting.

Over the last 3 days I have been in nightmare-mode trying to keep the graphic banners & buttons working! It appears The Joker has hacked into my account & is messing things up, ha ha! Actually, I am getting between 500-600 visitors an hour & it's crashing my bandwidth! Yesterday the Bat-Blog received over 10,000 visitors in one day ( that's a record! ). I apologize for any buttons temp missing but the main content of the blog ( which is stored with Google Picassa ) is always up & running so when you visit you can still enjoy all the articles & main photos. Mainly it's just the banners & buttons that are screwed up. But, I'm working on it & apologize for any problems. I'm sort of conflicted because I'm super excited about the site's popularity, that's the goal of every blogger & I honestly appreciate everybody visiting, that's awesome! But this bandwidth thing is a nightmare, ha ha! Ya'know, this August is the 2nd anniversary of this blog & to celebrate I plan on creating a whole new page with new design features. It should be way better & I will continue to try to bring the best content I can! So, look for the new design in a few weeks. Thank you!
Here's a really interesting TV commercial from back when the BATMAN FOREVER movie teamed up with McDonalds Fast Food Restaurants. Since we're not getting any kid's "Happy Meal" toys for The Dark Knight ( in the USA anyway ) I thought I would post this!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Kuan, sent us these 2 wonderful photos in response to a previous post where we showed some advertising billboards & banners from New York City for The Dark Knight Batman movie. Kuan lives in Singapore & recently saw some outdoor signs for The Dark Knight. Well, the amazing thing too is that he got some pictures from when the movie Batman Begins was showing there a few years ago! As you can see from the dates on the photos they were both taken on almost the same day but 3 years apart! Wow, how cool is that?! I want to personally thank Kuan for sending in these great pics, Thanks! And while I'm at it, I wanna invite all our other readers to do the same. ( On a side note, I think it's amazing getting communication from a guy all the way in Singapore. I love the internet! )

Here's a wonderful black & white photo sent in to us from a Bat-Blog Reader named Michael who said he loved this old publicity photo of Chief O'Hara from the 1966 Batman TV Show reading Mad Magazine. I have to agree, it's very cool! The actor's name is Stafford Repp. While watching the show, as a little kid, I always liked his thick Irish accent. Thanks Mike. The photo inspired me to hunt down my old issue of this classic magazine cover. I show a picture of it next to yours & even made a Desktop Wallpaper for you to enjoy...Thanks again.

The other day I was talking with a friend about the Bat-Blog. I told him about how I have been writing the blog for 2 years now & I post 2-3 items every single day. OK, sometimes I miss a day but then I post 4-5 items to make it up, ha ha. Anyway, he said what do you do if you don't have an idea for a certain day? I told him, "I post a Classic Batman Comic Book Cover", ha ha. I mean, it's easy to do & it's kinda neat because while it does create "historical reference", it also helps to bring back memories for readers. Like, "Wow, I remember when comics were only 25 cents!" or, "Yeah, I always loved that certain bat-logo." Another thing people like is seeing a favorite artist again like Jim Aparo, Neal Adams, Carmine Infantino, Norm Breyfogle, etc... I asked my friend if he had any bat-memories & he told me this story. "While sitting in the car my Dad went into a 7-11 store & bought me my VERY first comic book, a Batman comic. It was a story about a villain named The Wringer. I must have been about 5 or 6 years old. I remember the appeal the comic had on me because the story was sooo crazy. The villain got his name because he liked to wring necks, ha ha!" Well, ok, this cover is for you Dave! Thanks for sharing your tramatic childhood story. The issue was Batman #278 from Aug 1976. I hope it's not too scary for ya, ha ha ( inside joke ). If any other readers have any nice stories to share about their Batman fandom then please leave a comment below, thanks.
Here are some really funny Batman photos! The 1st one is a parody picture that I have seen on MySpace a lot. It's about how Batman deals with the death of his parents. The 2nd one is a comic strip about the 1989 Batman Movie submitted by a Bat-Blog reader. You might have to click on it to be large enough to read, pretty funny! The last one is another popular MySpace Joke Photo of a cat dressed up like The Joker ( Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight ) with the phrase "Y SO SRYS?" ( Why So Serious? )...enjoy!
Recently the Bat-Blog has been receiving a lot of e-mail from people who are totally excited about some movie called The Dark Knight. It sounds pretty cool so I might have to check in to it, ha ha! Anyway, I wanna thank everybody who wrote, especially the 3 people who attached these 3 awesome TDK-related photos they shot in their hometowns. The 1st one is a HUGE Advertising Banner in Times Square & it was big enough that I could make it into a BATMAN WALLPAPER. So, be sure to click on that one for the larger image you can use as a desktop background. The 2nd photo is really neat too. It's an Advertising Banner on the side of a bus. Not sure where it's from but it looks cool! The 3rd example is really wonderful for 2 reasons. First, it's a great picture of a large "Joker" banner but also, it shows some outdoor mural art done by Keith Haring. Haring was a famous Pop Artist from the 1980's who also did some graffiti art. See that small "cube" with bright colors just under the Joker picture? That's Haring! This is also in NYC. If you, the reader, have any cool photos like this then please send them in. Sharing the fun of Batman is what this site is all about!

This Cable TV interview took place in Hong Kong, one of the cities which the movie was filmed at. The interview of Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal appeared on July 13, 2008. It's pretty interesting to see "foreign press" & I'm also wondering why "Rachel Dawes" was there. I don't think she had any scenes in Hong Kong so that's kinda weird. But, it's always nice to see her, enjoy.

The Bat-Blog featured some of Sean Hartter's artwork in the past & since his work was so popular I thought I would show a few more. This guy has a really great drawing style & the pictures are also kinda fun so...here...we...GO! The 1st one sort of cracks me up, it's a really nice portrait of The Joker. I like the coloring here, a light palette. The 2nd graphic shows Batman in battle in Gotham City. Not quite sure who this villain is but he looks cool. The 3rd pic is really neat. It's the Catwoman in flight! Next, is one of my favorites. It's a small pic of the Dark Knight in sort of a very cartoony-style & kinda cute too, goo goo goo. If you would like to see more of Sean's work just click on the graphic down below. For right now the button graphic might not be showing up but it does work and is clickable. Sorry for some pics being down. Right now I am getting about 400 visitors an hour & it's crashing my bandwidth. So, some photos or pictures might be down at times. I'm working on it.

Recently at the Bat-Blog we featured photos of all the new DARK KNIGHT Batman Kid's Meal Toys that will be at Burger King in Germany. It's a total shame we won't have any fast food toys here in the USA but these are still kinda neat! Well, here's the TV commercial that's being shown there. The cool thing is that it's in German!

Late last night, at midnight, I went to my local theater & viewed the new Dark Knight Batman movie!! OH MY GOD!!! I'm not kidding when I say this movie is a True Art Masterpiece! It was amazing. Every actor's performance was brilliant, especially Heath Ledger as The Joker. Heath Ledger took the Joker character to a whole new level & he simply deserves an Oscar for his performance. But, to be honest, so does every other actor on this film: Christian Bale ( Batman & Bruce Wayne ), Gary Oldman ( Lieutenant Jim Gordon ), Aaron Eckhart ( District Attorney Harvey Dent & Two-Face Villain ), Michael Caine ( Butler Alfred Pennyworth ), Morgan Freeman ( Lucius Fox ), & Maggie Gyllenhaal ( Rachel Dawes ), among others. It's also important to note that Christopher Nolan deserves a "Best Director" Oscar & The Dark Knight should get "Best Movie of The Year"! I know I sound kinda crazy but I'm totally serious when I say that if you're a true Batman Fan you will totally LOVE this movie...go see it tonight, twice!
BATMAN TECH on The History Channel!! This Monday & Tuesday, July 21st & 22nd, the History Channel will feature a documentary on the gadgets & weapons of The Dark Knight. This one hour TV show will be a "must-see" for all Batman Fans! At the official History Channel website they write, "Since his debut in DC Comics in 1939, Batman has dazzled readers with an amazing array of bat gadgets. Viewers will go deep inside the Batcave to examine these incredible tools--many of them inspired by amazing real-life military developments. Discover just how close they come to real-life technology." On Monday it will be on at 9:00pm & Tuesday at 1:00am. But be sure to check your local listings for the exact time because it comes on at different times in different time zones.
Ever since I saw that scene, at the end of BATMAN BEGINS, where Jim Gordon hands a Joker Playing Card ( in a police evidence bag ) over to Batman & Batman replies, "I'll check into it" we have known that the next movie was gonna have The Joker! For awhile there was wild speculation as to which actor would be this character. Then we all heard the name "Heath Ledger". To be honest, at first, I thought it was a weird choice. But, I put my trust in Christopher Nolan's decision & look what has happened. All the news reports & reviews are saying that Ledger's performance is easily Oscar worthy. That he plays the Joker with incredible skill. Well, I'm really excited about that & tonight, after waiting almost 2 years, some friends & I are gonna go to a special midnight showing! I'm totally excited & really looking forward to this film. OK, sorry to go on & on. Let's get to the reason of this post. I thought, to celebrate the movie, I would post 2 DARK KNIGHT Desktop Background Wallpapers! The 1st one is a montage of a few different Batman TDK Movie Posters. This one was created & sent in by a Bat-Blog Reader named Levi. I think it looks really cool, thanks Levi & GOOD JOB! I made the 2nd one & it's the classic scene with the Bat-Pod motorcycle crashing though the window of a Gotham City building. I hope you enjoy both of these!

Recently at the Bat-Blog we shared the information about there being a set of 4 cereal premium figures of THE DARK KNIGHT ( 2 Batman, 1 Scarecrow, & 1 Joker ) that are "foreign" because they're from Brazil. They're put out by Nestle which is a division of General Mills. OK, just to revamp, General Mills has 4 figures in cereal boxes for the USA & Nestle has 4 figures in Brazil. When you look at the figures on the backs of the cereal boxes, & even in photos, the figures from Brazil look exactly the same except for Scarecrow ( obviously ) & a "Double-Punch" Batman. So, I thought there were only 2 figures that were different. Well, our friend Eric got a set of them recently & ALL FOUR of the foreign ones are different! They are a little bit taller & a lot thicker than the US ones. So, thank you Eric for the information. For the rest of the story, & some amazing photos, please be sure to check out Eric's website. It's called TOYRIFFIC!
